Well, I seem to have fallen on my feet here. Let's take these one at a time...
I made this one for a beer label, but could never figure out what kind of beer it would go on. I used a version of it as my avatar for a long time too.

I used to have a pet planet, and I had the animals classified as to the broad ecological niche they occupied. For "medium predators" I wanted to use a pather as the icon, so I put one together. This one.

Finally, I thought I ought to do something new for this thread, so Here's my baby kitty, Cobweb...

Tophat665 10-24-2004 01:15 PM

Suggestions for next week:
Things that go bump in the night.
Autumn leaves.
Band-Aids throughout History.

GoldenOuroboros 10-24-2004 01:25 PM

Wow tophat, very cool
That fist one is awesome
:D

You only need on suggestion too
:p

bernadette 10-24-2004 02:25 PM

not new. i did this maybe as much as 2 yrs ago. i think i've posted it in a thread here before, too...
<img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/1003/m0us33/tfp/mouse_teatime.jpg">

i wish i had time to make something new. alas... maybe after the first of the year?

bernadette 10-24-2004 02:25 PM

ps. nice ones, nancy & tophat!

Tophat665 10-24-2004 02:29 PM

I really like the styling on that one, bernadette. The whole coloring not quite inside the lines thing, and particularly the arcs in the cat's eye. Makes it look like he's got the munchies a bit.

Fremen 10-24-2004 06:44 PM

Very nice work, guys. :)

I especially like the panther, Top.

clavus 10-24-2004 09:32 PM

Looks like somebody is getting a cat coaster for Christmas...

Nancy 10-26-2004 07:15 AM

LOL! I thought it was it's mouth and those little white spots were its teeth! Well... how else would it say "miv" if its mouth isn't open? :hmm: :D

clavus 10-26-2004 07:29 AM

real cats don't say "Miv," they say "VRROOOOOOOOM!"

GoldenOuroboros 10-26-2004 04:55 PM

Clavus, your cats remind me of the egyptian ones for some reason O_o

clavus 10-26-2004 08:34 PM

It's because they are into various pyramid schemes.

hmmmm good question. I guess I'll trade anything for it except loverboy and my Fox t-shirt :p

GoldenOuroboros 10-26-2004 11:34 PM

ooo Clavus, she said anything ;)
:D
:p

Tophat665 10-27-2004 08:34 AM

Clavus, those are some spooky kitties. Excellent, into extreme sports, but spooky. It's like that black one managed to catch the Black Rabbit of Inl&eacute;, and moreover, knew what to do with it.

clavus 10-27-2004 12:03 PM

Well, I try to be community minded. So if Nancy agrees to post some great photos of herself with the coaster in Tilted Exhibition, I'll send it her way. Anyone else think this is a good idea?

I approve of this.

clavus 10-27-2004 01:15 PM

Is anyone else suprised that neither Vermin nor GH have subitted something off the wall (i.e a picture of kitty litter, something related to the Broadway production of "Cats," a group of large tractors, etc.)?

Tophat - thanks, man.

Exhibition pictures huh? Why am I not surprised? :p
Never the less you've got yourself a deal Clavus! can I choose which cat I want for my coaster then? Or does this deal of ours secure me TWO coasters? I'm having a hard time deciding whether I want the one with the stars or that last one you made you see..

Nancy 10-28-2004 12:01 AM

Ok, I must admit: The reason I'm so bad at art is because I'm lazy. I'm too lazy to buy the supplies. I'm too lazy to move everything around in the apartment so I have room to paint. I'm too lazy to have an imagination.

now that's a real shame. But you know, you don't have to move furnitures in order to draw sketches in a book ;)

Nancy 10-29-2004 02:33 AM

Hey Pacifier aren't you gonna join us this week?

Pacifier 10-29-2004 02:36 AM

*g* no, sadly not.
I love all your work here, very good pics!
But I cant do cats :(

You can make realistic human beings and bad-ass subs but you can't make cats?! I have a hard time believing you! :p

Well, the only one that is "real" (ink on paper) is the one with the stars. I don't think a laser print would do that well if I coated it, stuck it to cork and poured resin all over it.

How about I send you two coasters - the cat with the stars, and a dog to match?

Sorry for the delay in replying. I was in Milwaukee. For real.

clavus 10-29-2004 11:02 PM

Next week - alcohol

FngKestrel 10-30-2004 11:16 PM

Sneaking it in after the deadline. :D

Okay, so quick and dirty, it makes me feel dirty.

I had to give an homage to one of my favorite webcomics and the boneless kitty that resides in it. Go read Something Positive and fall in love with Choo-Choo Bear.

http://img60.exs.cx/img60/2725/choochoobear.jpg

FYI: Rereading the first couple of webcomics, I forgot how dark the humor was. You've been warned.

I'd like that! Send me a PM when they're ready for shipment :)

vermin 11-01-2004 02:12 PM

Better late than never

Four renderings of a cat head modeled in Solidworks. Took longer than I thought it would.

Fremen 11-01-2004 04:24 PM

Wow! That's some cool looking stuff, vermin.
I've never heard of Solidworks. Is it bundled with Photoshop or something like it?
Or is it an independant program?

Whatever it is, those are some pretty sharp looking pics. :)

vermin 11-01-2004 06:26 PM

Engineering software. 3D CAD, basically. It has a photorenderer with it that lets you save a screenshot as a jpeg. These were then re-sized in MSpaint.

The problem with using engineering software for something like this is that everything needs to be dimensioned. Typing in numbers instead of just sort of random sketching. Everything has to be planned in order to make it look like anything.

So in other words, you had to go through probably four times the steps than if you used a normal program?
Damn. You done good. :p
Blows my piddly little drawing away. ;)
