Movie poster I made
 

Hey guys! About a couple months ago the Sony website was offering the public a chance at 50,000 dollars to create a movie poster for RE: Apocalypse. I figured what they hell and accepted the offer and entered. I did not even make top 5 and was pretty depressed about it. Normally if something is better than mine, I will gladly admit it, but the top five, aside from 2, were absolute garbage that could have been done in 5 minutes, its all good though, there is always next year. Hell maybe you guys think this is garbage too......lend me your opinions.

Hell I like it! The red color certainly ads to the atmosphere in the movie!

The text below has the classic look of a movie poster but I'm not too fond of the ones above. It's like they miss something - a different font? Some shadow perhaps? I can't really put my fingers on it.

not too shabby, but i do completely despise the font you used for the actresses names....what are the specs on this peice? (size, dpi?)

LOL, Everyone hates the font...whats so bad it about it? I like it :D. Maybe thats why I lost. I dont remember the size, but the resolution was 72.

i hate that font because it is way overused, with the likes of sand, papyrus, and century gothic...i could be wrong but isn't that the font that godsmack uses as their logo? that's another reason to hate it...lol

Do you by chance have a link to the winning entries? Besides the font, I like it. The enemy guy on the right is a little hard to see but nice otherwise!

I say keep the font, but shadow it as someone above suggested.

Here you go. I thought the winner was good, but simple to make. The other four in my honest opinion are crap. Each could be done within 5 minutes. Oh well, so much for trying to make shit complicated.

Simplicity is more effective. In the case of movie posters simplicity is a must because they have to show the "message" immediately. People who walk by the posters on the street are very busy and only have time for a quick glance at the poster..

Unfortunately, it's not about how difficult it was to make. In pop culture, everything is dumbed down for the mindless masses to digest. It's like Jazz. Very complicated and difficult to understand unless you know music.

Your poster certainly was worthy of at leasting being a finalist. Absolutely better than three of the five chosen. I would have to say that the grainy one is the worse of the bunch. The catch phrase, "You're all going to die" is just bad. Really, really bad.

wow...the one that says you're all going to die is really bad....as is the one to the right of it...yours was better than the "you're all going to die one" though...geez, that one is bad...

Yeah, I was shocked when I saw the "you're all going to die" one. All he did was put a picture up and us the craquelure filter in photoshop...THATS IT!! Oh well, the movie is garbage anyway :D.

the font irks me too

looks like "Roar"... the font everyone hates, that is. pretty ugly even for a logotype.

Ok, that IS why I lost. I believe it now. I did not know it was so hated, damn font.

don't feel too bad, the movie's title is pretty ugly, that font kind of goes with it... sad realy ;)

OMG the winner poster sucks!

I kind of did like the winner, but yours definately should have been in the top 5. Only thing about the winner is, I dont think the picture even had anything to do with the movie, besides the fact that it looks freaky. And while I agree about the text, it does kind of match the title. Nice Job.
