Blown glass from college

I finally managed to photograph a portion of my glass work from college. While this by no means a comprehensive collection of my work, its a pretty decent representation of how I liked to work.

For a little background I blew glass at Bowling Green State U. for two years, or 4 consecutive semesters. My main focus was organic art glass with odd (and sometimes unfortunate) color combinations. However, I did like my glass to keep a certain level of functionality, if not in practice perhaps in form. I haven't been in a studio for over a year now and I dearly miss it. Once I am gainfully employed where I have financial stability I will take up this art once again.

But enough chat, here are the pictures:

Some excellent pieces here, yakimushi.
I appreciate the chromaticism, but I am attracted even more by the forms themselves.
Thanks!

That is some very impressive work, always wanted to take a class but they took it out of school here because everyone was making pipes.

Beautiful work, Chihuly...oops! I mean yakimusha. ;)

Fremen, you are too kind by far. If I ever achieve even a tenth of what Chihuly has accomplished I could die a soulfully satisfied man.

Everyone else, thank you very much for your compliments!

Seriously. You could make a great living selling your stuff. AWESOME!
You clearly have desire and heart for the craft.
Thank you for sharing this with us all!!!

Those are some awesome pieces there, it'd be awesome to have any one of those as a centerpiece, or even a conversation piece...

When you get back into it, enjoy it and keep the master works coming..

i like them there great

Gortexfogg 09-15-2004 05:57 PM

Awesome work! The pieces look like they'd be a lot of fun to make. I think the sixth one is my favorite, it reminds me of a humand bloodstream sort of. Thanks for sharing all your work!

skier 09-15-2004 08:41 PM

I would pay for the six one. I don't suppose you're willing to sell?

yakimushi 09-16-2004 06:16 PM

While I greatly appreciate the sentiment, I cannot sell these at this time. I'm not producing right now and these kind of hold some emotional value.

However... if I start producing again I'm sure I will have pieces for sale. When, who knows?

Again, thank you all for the kind comments.

Great job ! You're very talented.

amazing work yakimushi! It's so nice to see something else than drawings and paintings in the art section for a change. I can imagine that working with a material such as glass is very difficult?
