stylistically a lot like last week's Bubbles.
for at least the last 8 years i've had a lazy habit of sticking a face on anything and calling it funny. next week, i'm on vacation. |
that's pretty awesome doddlebird! Somewhat disturbing with the face and all but I still like it! :D
|
Hail Doodlebird!
I love this part of Townsville. The unparallel lines, the non-Euclidean geometry, and the angry buildings all make for a suitable setting cast beneath a blood red evening sky. Bravisimo, -GH |
I started off with something very different in mind... but...

todd, the 2nd is my fav there... WOW! that is great!
|
Hey thanks. Yours is pretty cool too. The stuff surrounding the circles looks neat
|
awesome todd! Is the spiral some sort of monument or an actual building??
|
|
|
Todd - that is great. It has a certain UT2004 feel to it. Where is my flack cannon anyway?
|
Good evening,
Animosity, I am reminded of tinted glass that blocks the deadly glare of a three morning stars that might rise on a desolate desert planet. My favorite detail of Todd's is the reflection of the alien artifact in the side of the building. I like the bright white lighting of the first version best for this reason. Nancy, I would like to stay in one of those ruby bubbles beneath a soft rosy sky and enjoy the lens flares as long as my life support would let me. Bundy, I know that whale and squid! It's from John Osborn's Whale gallery. It inspired me to attempt to capture the classic confrontation of squid versus blimp. It's hanging out in one of these threads around here somewhere. I am eager for the images of Clavus and Vermin. Here what came out this week… http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1.../spacestop.jpg next week: monkeys |
|
uhhh a space winabago! Nice place Clavus! :D
|
borrowing from GH's commenting structure if i may...
animosity: the block have an interesting texture. kinda of like a candy my mom used to make. it wasn't very tasty. maybe it was from outer space. or maybe my mom is. bundy: awesome combo. i never knew Kitty-chan was an extraterrestrial. but that sure explains a lot. the eternal youth, speech without a mouth... todd: that center structure is awesome. a giant corkscrew opening the earth spilling the blood of the innocents like so much wine. mmm wine. nancy: i want to eat those red bubbles. are they cherry flavored? clavus: i can't remember the last time (if ever) a chalk drawing made me pee in my pants. maybe i need to see a urologist. maybe not, that's truly funny stuff. G-Ham: damn you for calling out everyone's influences! (ok, thank you. i didn't know the whale gallery. you are a fountain of knowledge) i enjoy your little details. i hope next week, your aliens will pick up their trash. and to all: great work. thank you for making this fun. |

ho hum
aliens have no taste - they cover their buildings in leopard-skin effect frozen methacrylate |
I started drawing this before seeing todd's spirally cone-like thing. This must be a case of great minds thinking alike. Or something. I used a "blurry" tool to give the illusion of depth. Didn't work too well, did it?
Third edit (and I'm not even drinking): Every week there seem to be more and better entries to this "thing". Yay us. Suggestion for next week: If cats had thumbs |
This thread is the best one in a long time. Great work, peeps!
Moments ago, I muttered something about "critical work emails" and snuck away from my wife to check this thread. What the Hell, we're on vacation, but that doesn't mean I can't enjoy a little on-line art, right? doodlebird - don't feel bad. It wasn't chalk. Oil pastels do that to a lot of guys. |
seriously, you people are great.
next week: look out your window |
uuuhhh I like yours apeman! I feel like taking a swim in the ocean but with the green gleam I don't think it would be good for your health ;)
|
thanks :) i will try to get a nicer water effect right for you to want to swim in Nancy ;)
this is indeed a very cool thread - it must have been to make me get off me arse and contribute - QED ... thanks everyone :) |

reworked the previous scene for more of a moonlit swim effect for nancy
|
nice re-work apeman.
indeed more inviting for a swim. but also less alien. (tangent to follow) it reminds me of a spanish film, Lucía y el sexo. pretty good (not great) movie with some cool mermaid scenes. there is the requisite love making by moon light, but this scene's in the water. check it out. the star, paz vega, is a cutie. |
so now i need to work out what would be both
a) invitingly swimful, and b) alienly interesting hmmm ... (i will look out for that film, cheers) |
I like the posts with the spheres, so I decided to include one as well. :)
