The satellite dish
This is a project that I've been using a couple of my vacation days on: painting two satellite dishes for loverboy's boss whom I hardly know. His boss has made the design - I merely painted it for him on two sattelite dishes that are to be used as an advertising for the company.
First of all I had to sketch the logo and letters on the dish using a projector. Up close they were pixelated as hell so I had to sketch it by eye. Then I painted it 2 times using a tiny paint brush and some paint based on xylener which is very injurious to health. It had to be xylener-based since the dishes are going to be outside all the year round. The satellite dishes have the old measure of 140 cm in diameter (the present ones are about 60-90 cm) - nearly as big as I am. And damn heavy too! Me trying to lift the damn thing so I can show it to you: http://img35.photobucket.com/albums/.../Kunst/394.jpg and voilá: http://img35.photobucket.com/albums/.../Kunst/248.jpg I guess it turned out ok :D |
thats cool.
i like the first one :) u look cute trying to lift it. made me smile. ... and with that im out, the sun is coming up so its past my bed time... |
i imagine projectors can sure come in handy. i've never used one, i just freehand my murals. but the level of detail & accuracy here is excellent.
this project makes me think that lots of other folks out there must have stuff that's nearly as big as they are, so let's see it! (or perhaps nancy is just very, very tiny) |

and like I said: the satellite dish is abnormally huge - they don't make them this big any more :) |
nice work, Nancy.
Good to see it here. Thanks. |
Sweet dish.
Either one. |
Hail Nancy!
The art looks professional, excellent work. The pictures themselves are entertaining, as well. You, of course, are always pleasing to look at but my favorite feature are your fingers peaking out from either side of the dish in the second image. It's always the little things that make me laugh. Thanks, -GH |

Looks great! sleek, professional, perfect.
I too am fond of the fingers peeking out. Watch out it doesn't roll you away. You would be missed. |
very, very well executed :)
i don't like the style of the central "LEH" lettering personally, but that's a design issue i hope you got something nice for doing it, apart from a head-rush from the xylene fumes ;) |
heh awesome!
As everyone has said, very professional! And I hope he does give you something for it, seeing it's goin to be used for advertising and all.. |

Good job, Nancy. I like your style. ;)
I wouldn't mind riding that dish down a long snowy hill. It'd be exhilarating. :D |
you have a very steady & accurate hand, ms. nancy.
that lettering looks like pre-cut stick on letters. remarkably good job! you could be a valuable asset to a sign shop. |
Fremen: excellent idea! hehe maybe he's got one to spare that I can have :p
Bernadette: thank you so much! I'd never work in a sign shop though. I prefer the variety of assignments that my career as a media graphic artist will ensure me :D |
halla good artist you are nancy.......always enjoy your contributions.

looks really neat, i wish more people would to this
