clean vector or messy scan?

preferences for one style or the other?
this one, or the next?
comments, additions, omissions?

it's for a silkscreen image.
most likely with the subtitle,
"texas speed bump"

*i actually like cats.
i've just been asked to do more dark stuff,
and more texas-themed stuff.

Vector. Definitely the choice for a silk screen.

Hail Citizen!

I vote for vector, as well. Since you asked, I'd like to see a little ethereal cat angel floating away from the corpse. Actually, now that I think about it, how about 9 ethereal angels drifting off? Wait, what about 9 cat angels all lined up in a row and run over? Upon further reflection, it's great the way it is.

How about a few flies buzzing around?
OK, I'm done.

vector, baby!

The exposed cat-bones in the top of the tread are anice touch, but I would adjust them a bit. Make it look like a spine (use a circle) in the middle, then get rid of the others.

Just my 2 cents.

vector

but, if you're light-cutting for the silkscreen, the added detail can be nice, especially when you dont need to cut it out

what's light cutting?
i'm a slik screening one trick pony.
i do the speedball photo emulsion & sensitizer
on a synthetic screen of 110 to 196 thread count.
mostly one color,
only because i don't have the clips
or a table to register on.

thanks to all for the input.
sounds like vector is the way to go.

light cutting is using special ambafilm and a black and white picture on an overhead sheet, using a light machine to burn the image into the ambafilm, then screening through the film... it works really well and you can do super detailed stuff

I like the pics, but wouldn't an armadillo be more Texas-ish than a cat?

If you are screenprinting on fabric, you definately want to go with the vector. Or maybe if you inked the hand drawn, (thick lines without shading) that might look cool.

nice illustration by the way.

nice work on both - i suppose the alcohol = texas?

vector as first choice, but if you really wanted to use the illus. my only suggestion was to remove the "double x" line

i also think that the subtitle should be in the same format

after several tries,
this was the winner.

i think it looks more like a fly/cat
than an angelic cat...

help.

you're right on vermin.

i'll lose the texas speed bump text here,
and do a separate image w/ armadillo.

thanks.

The vector is a little more cartoonish but it would work better for a silk screen in my opinion

vectors are the way to go with silkscreen burning because you need a solid black image to burn out the screen like said previously. if you don't have a solid black line, you are prone to not burning the screen all the way and it will look like crap.
