mouse dudes

This started as a doodle on a post-it note at work while waiting for the computer to regenerate a very large model. I took it home, scanned it into PhotoImpression 2000 (came with digital camera), made copies and colored them differently.

Very briefly toyed with the idea of adding more variation, other than color of clothes, and trying to make a comic-strip type thing. Problem with that is that I'd need to find someone to write something for the characters to do so I could illustrate. Even started a list of characters describing attitudes, how they relate to each other, etc. Ambition-o-meter is reading pretty low at the moment so, who knows?

The animation in the new avatar is a starting point to animating some of these little guys to do...something, I don't know what yet.

Maybe my insecurity and paranoia are getting the better of me, but what is "scary" and "freaky" about badly drawn mice? They're not dressed as terrorists or IRS agents or in SS uniforms or anything (yet)?

These reactions really suprised me.

Or is it the possibility of what I might animate them doing?

2 minutes later: Oh! I get it now, you're all freaked out cause the right shirt sleeve is longer than the left. Sorry.

I think these mice are cute! When you animate them, what do you think you will have them doing? Will they dance? Will they argue? Maybe some of them could fly......

I was thinking along the lines of Quentin Tarentino style blood-everywhere violence. Already started on a revolver-headshot suicide thing. I'm doing the individual gif frames in MSpaint and it's taking longer than I anticipated. The stepping avatar is only 14 frames and half of it was copy-paste the other half. Which is why it looks like two left feet.

I had to edit this down to make the avatar. But here is the uncut version.

I also have a loop of just the mouse sweating.

Here's an avatar that I thought would be funny, but turned out too big:
Well it's supposed to be Bob Marley morphing into G.W.Bush and then back again. If it's rexed, blame microsoft. I do.
