hey everybody, I've been working on this for the last couple of months on and off, and now I have more time to work on it. Its a german king tiger and I hope to put in a scene full of snow.

C&C welcomed...

mmmm....radiosity.....what are you rendering this in? Looks somewhat POVRay like. Very nice, either way..excellent use of textures and composition, not to mention your model looks pretty good as well. Does the turret intersect the body in a spot it shouldn't, though? It looks like it can't turn....or is that just a quirk of the angle in pic 2

hansthemolemann 09-19-2003 01:41 AM

the lighting is just global illumination with brazil, and the turret can turn without clipping anything atm, it may look funny because i havent raised it from the main body yet, i keep meaning to do it but always forget.

awesome o' clock

CrazySaturn 09-19-2003 02:42 PM

Really nice looking. Make sure to add some snow on the tank and diesel exhaust when you put it in the scene.

Dibbler 09-19-2003 08:36 PM

I think it's really great. When I first looked at it I was under the impression it was a model, as in plastic and glue with airbrushed camo. Didn't realize it was CG till I read the comments.

Again, Great job!

hansthemolemann 09-19-2003 11:25 PM

Hey thanks for all the input, I should be done texturing by monday, and then I'll work on(hopefully) getting some good looking snow on it! The little pieces just take forever to get textures on and the tracks will be hell...

Four Fingers 09-20-2003 03:32 AM

Good model. Can the chain move?

Dunta 09-20-2003 07:16 AM

Wow, great job.

yeah, I set the tracks up so they will be able to move.

peeweesbigbong 09-20-2003 11:28 AM

yea, looks really good!

i would add a few muddy treads and some dirty snow in it if you are going to place in an enviroment. just my 2 pesos. but other than that good job!!!

i'd also check out www.cgtalk.com
a lot of professionals are on that sire (ussually over 150 people are present on forums at any given time) you might get some more opinions about this piece if you were to post it there as well!

David2000 09-20-2003 04:30 PM

Whoa! That's insane. How many hours has that taken you?

hansthemolemann 09-20-2003 06:24 PM

hey all, I'll head over to cgtalk and post it there. the project has been on and off for about 2 months.

analinguist 09-21-2003 05:38 AM

i don't know crap about 3d rendering, but this looks ready to be popped into a video game.

Damnfinn 09-21-2003 03:45 PM

I'm no artist but I think it's great.

sartan 12-27-2003 03:58 PM

Dont know if you were going for it, but it looks game ready. Great job

gallopingwanker 12-28-2003 08:20 AM

what kind of lighting did you use? just default...or something different?

Jack Ruby 12-28-2003 10:59 AM

That is very, very nice. I like the tracks especially.

uber1 12-28-2003 11:34 AM

my sentiments exactly. I understand you probably do this professionally. Mind if I ask who you work with?

JohnS72 01-03-2004 11:47 AM

That is sweet! I've always had a fascination with WW2 related things, except for tanks :-p but wow, that is amazing detail. Props to ya!

-Ever- 01-03-2004 08:14 PM

Pic 3 shows that the 'upper' portion of the tank could use some rougher texture. It looks too sharp IMO.
Very nice otherwise!

hansthemolemann 01-06-2004 03:29 AM

wow, forgot about this...

Unfortunatly my computer crapped out and I lost most of my scenes :P

I think I'll start another model now though!

thanks for the nice words, the project taught me a couple usefull things.

MexicanOnABike 01-07-2004 06:47 PM

niceones 01-08-2004 12:28 PM

viper11885 01-08-2004 01:03 PM

Wow, it looks like it is turning out great!

Love the amount of detail that you put into it. Really shows.
