Query: Illustrator styles?
Okay, so I'm looking for some way to create custom styles/patterns that bend along with the outlines of my object.
Something like this: http://www.isandro.net/fnord/curvey_line.gif Except this one I did by hand so it's not perfect and the process is tedious. Anyone have a clue? I think I could make some very cool mathematical/organic designs with this trick :) |

this was done in Corel Draw using Blend Along A Path effect. Illustrator can do the same thing just as easy. |
i don't know what you are asking. do you?
|
basically I want to be able to draw a simple line like above, then apply a style swatch to it, in this case arrowheads, that bend along with this line, instead of all pointing to the right.
I know it's possible to create a pattern swatch that replaces the fill color of an object with a (custom made) pattern. what i'm looking for is the way to create custom styles, wich I can apply to the outline -not the body- of an object. I've been trying to create new brushes also but I can't make heads or tails of it... wpully: but how do you link the arrowheads to the line? |
I can tell you how to do it in Corel Draw. I don't have Illustrator loaded on my sytem right now.
What vector programs do you use? i.e.- Corel Draw, Illustrator, Freehand... ( Photoshop is not a vector program ) |
I only use illustrator and flash. Was planning to try out freehand but didn't get around to it yet.
After looking for some tutes i got this far: http://www.isandro.net/fnord/curvey_line2.gif almost perfect! except that when the curves get tight the ends of the arrowheads start bending a little. I'll get there tho :) |
