Let's Doodle!

What ho friends and enemies alike!

I would like this thread to be a repository of doodles great and not great, big and small, color and grayscale. Not to take away from starting your own threads but when you have a little something-something that you made but you don't want to dedicate a thread to it...put it here!

There is no time limit.

Blow the dust off those scanners and release the art.

I drew this one this morning...
http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2509/...cb4c5db5_m.jpg
As a challenge and to get this thread rolling I will try to match anyone who participates.

Don't leave me hanging...

I'll play. An excuse to get some drawings scanned  I drew these in the last 2 days.

Giant Hamburger 09-18-2009 01:53 PM

Aw yeah!
I knew I could count on you Kramus.
I love your lines and colors.
I could use a good tree woman but then who couldn't?

As promised, I must match your honorable post...
http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3455/...00e9ce2a5e.jpg

I would like to add that these drawings do not have to be recent.
Post anything and everything from the time just before the oceans drank Atlantis to the day after tomorrow
and BEYOND.

Thankyou for your kind words GH. I shall savor them as if they were delicate, fragile servants gifted me and devoured with pleasure.

A few more then, from the archives. Note the first drawing is my sister Leah's name, and the second is "P" for profile, proboscis, whatever . . .

wooÐs 09-18-2009 10:57 PM

I hope PSP is acceptable :o

Kramus, I want to gnaw the flesh off your second drawing.

Woods, my hearts sing to the thrum of your participation.
I accept EVERYTHING!

Here is a doodle for you.
Please print it out and attach it to yourself.
http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2510/...81375402fc.jpg
The location I will leave to your discreation.

wooÐs 09-19-2009 08:09 AM

omg yay! A lamprey eel, amirite?

I'll put it on my collarbone part.

Halx 09-19-2009 09:19 AM

I wish I had the skill to do some of this stuff.

Giant Hamburger 09-19-2009 11:55 AM

I remember your picture of Sammy Sosa!
The doodles lurk within you.
Let them wiggle to the surface and live in this thread.

ring 09-19-2009 12:17 PM

A recent doodle. I call it, "out of body something."

http://i253.photobucket.com/albums/h...File0021-4.jpg

I think the cat just farted out a mouse.

Giant Hamburger 09-19-2009 02:52 PM

Ah Ring, I was waiting for you.

I would give that mouse-farting ghost cat a home if it needed one.
Is it floating above a mountainscape during a Colorado noontide?

In a different time-line we would have raised a squid together

And Pink Hearts, Orange Stars, Yellow Moons, Green Clovers, Blue Diamonds, and Purple Horse Shoes! And now with new Red Balloons.

Giant Hamburger 09-20-2009 05:01 AM

I want to see your new red baboons.

wooÐs 09-20-2009 10:43 AM

They're camera shy. :o

Giant Hamburger 09-21-2009 07:18 AM

It's best to keep them in a cool dark place.

I will drop this Monday morning doodle

but instead I will longboard with an old friend

and then dash myself.

Here are two from last week. These were both done during planning meetings at work, with a bic pen.

ring 09-21-2009 04:38 PM

The tension in the first doodle is palpable.

I can feel your critter's purchases - the grasping onto their surfaces.

Sweet.

Giant Hamburger 09-21-2009 07:01 PM

Frogza, those doodles have completely melted my face off.

I hope to see more in here even if that means you must endure more meetings.

Here is the type of doodle I slip into my kids lunch box.

but he's cool as long as we share our food.

ring 09-24-2009 10:46 AM

This doodle outgrew the scanner.

http://i253.photobucket.com/albums/h...File0021-5.jpg

wooÐs 09-24-2009 04:34 PM

I wish I had a scanner so I could switch to manual doodling.

I'm noticing I seem to not smoke while doing brainless activities like this. It's a good thing.

http://img199.imageshack.us/img199/1179/doodle5.jpg

ring 09-24-2009 06:35 PM

Woods.. you could perhaps save those manual doodles and have a friend scan them,
or take them to walgreens or something. Please don't let not having a scanner,
stop you from creating.

The tactile pleasure of doodling on paper with different mediums is
good meditative, relaxing, stimulating, focusing...fun. (far from brainless, but I think I know what you mean.)

I don't smoke as much when I draw either, and that's a good good thing.

Those water droplets look so very real...nice.

wooÐs 09-24-2009 06:48 PM

I love mah PSP. But I haven't 'doodled' like this in years. I forgot how interesting it is to just get lost in cool-pretty-stuff land.

Maybe I'll price some machines. I know a basic scanner is way cheap nowadays - I dunno. We'll see.

And ty :o

thanks for the comments gucci and frogza :)

I always did love doin' the doodlin'

Mostly more of those 3" x 4" doodles from a few years ago. We had a stack of offcuts from legal sized paper cut down to letter sized to fit into a printer, and I kept a stack for notes and such. And for doodles when the 'puter was grinding on a file.

GH, your tiny parachuting elephant from 9/21 wants to come live in my tiny house. please send it over now.

all of your works are great, but frogza and kramus give me something for which to aspire.
my land is land of only two dimensions.

evilbeefchan 12-07-2009 04:37 AM

Just finished up an ink drawing for a Secret Santa art trade. It's 4x6 inches on watercolor paper, using ink, acrylic, coffee and charcoal. I haven't worked on a drawing in a looong time, so I'm damn happy with the way it came out!

http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2785/...ed634352c4.jpg

Giant Hamburger 12-07-2009 08:21 AM

Ahoy Evilbeefchan!

It is a pleasure to have you in this thread.
That is a good looking image.
Tell me more about using coffee.

I can't stop drawing cephalopods
http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2641/...fb052c3d8a.jpg
but it's hard to tell what they are thinking.

evilbeefchan 12-07-2009 01:13 PM

I like to add color washes to warm up the tones but I don't like some of the color calligraphy inks available, So I tried using cheaper options i.e. leftover coffee and tea. Since the pigment is fairly watered down, I can keep layering it on to get subtle lines and textures. Also there's some oxidation that occurs whenever using these materials (green tea & wine especially), so the tones feel more natural to me. A bit unpredictable and time consuming, but that's all part of the fun. =)

Vigilante 12-09-2009 11:31 AM

Ah, I haven't drawn anything decent in years.

I can't find any of my old scans from pencil and ink, but I do some work in MS paint haha. This is what I drew last:
http://www.tfproject.org/tfp/members...ttery-died.png

Giant Hamburger 12-09-2009 03:04 PM

What ho Vigilante!

Is that a High Efficiency, Low Noise, Inductorless Step-Down DC/DC Converter?

It needs a tentacle or three in there somewhere if you want to up the efficiency more than just two-times higher than a linear regulator.
Just saying...

And GH - do your young female spawn ever report on the effect your graphic insemination of their mid-day meals has in the classroom? I would think that the innoculative effect of being your progeny would protect them, but leave their weaker classmates prone to spontaneous self-ingestion and other powerful/bizarre reactions to the lunch doodles you supply.

Lady Bearcub - that suspended figure doodle is beautiful
