Salad Fingers - art or twisted psychosis?

I think these are fascinating. There are more, but these are the first three.

What do you think? Total sick twisted perversion or beautiful, creative art?

I can't help but be charmed by the subtle humor and I think they definitely push the envelope, for me, but I can't help but think they're funky cool.

I sampled the second video entitled 'friends'. Suffice to say, I am the unwitting character with the 'M' emblem on my jacket. Not sure what to say, tentative about what to do, and I have no resolution as to what happens in the end. My thoughts are like the red water in that it is supposed to perceived as solely one thing intuitively, yet what becomes of it is when exposed is intepreted as an alternate state.

I was both affixed and aghast at this unattractive portrayal. Is this a British production?
If it is, then the underlying tones are more realized because of the vague 'mort' expressions through various different mediums in a similar fashion are expressed here throughout the history of the British isle, a notable example yet not firmly apprehended by many, were the Monty Python's animations. It is very difficult to produce such a work that chills you by confusing your senses of what one grasp's to be innocence. Even an explanation of it does it no good since it is expressed solely through the 'stammering-calm' act and what the audience's perception of this vast contrast comes to ponder why this is. It raises so many hanging questions.

A very impressive production, and most thankful for sharing. I am actually still abit weirded out to continue, so I'll watch the first one tomorrow, and the last the day after.

What comes to my mind at this time is to compare this video to a short of 'Courage the Cowardly Dog', but without any comedy or conclusion. It only survives on its inconclusive character story.

I first came across Salad Fingers. . what. . .3 years ago now? I still haven't decided what I feel about it. Firth has done a bunch of other flash animation works as well but none half so provocative or intriguing as Fingers.

"M. . . Marjorie. . .Stewart Baxter! You taste like sunshine dust!"

I've been watching these for years, but still think that whoever makes these is a sick fuck.

I watched Salad Fingers a few years ago, probably about 3 - like above - and I thought it was twisted, boring, and really confusing.

Not my forte, but I could see how other twisted fucks could like it. :)

From what I understand David Firth records himself having these conversations (not sure if he is sober when he does it) and then animates them.

I think it is borderline art and entertainment.

"Have I been gifted with a grubby tap?" and "What's the matter Mr. Fingers? Don't you like my mouth-words?" crack me up to this day.

There's a ton of this stuff form the "early days" of Flash animation. Threebrain comes to mind. Wheeeeeeeeeeee!

It's OK, I guess. It seems like a slightly eccentric artist tried to create a cartoon that could pass for something created by someone who is actually "insane" in some sense of the word, but fell short and ended up with something that's just odd. I wouldn't call it genius or insanity, and I really can't understand why some people find it frightening. Maybe I'm too jaded from being on the Internet for so long.

I remember finding this on the 'net years ago and immediately being both fascinated and confused. I think that Firth's animations can all be interpreted to mean a great many things depending on the person. Creative, provocative, and twisted, all in one. Most definitely "different"

Like many others here, came across these in their heyday. Looking back on them now they don't seem to have lost any of their charm or surrealism.
I find them quite mirthful in fact but then again I am the sort of person who finds Chris Cunningham's work hilarious too.

Like minds I guess, you either love it or hate it and recoil in disgust.

Agreed.

Ever amusing, but I can only watch so much before I start to feel brain-rot creeping in.

Art? Sure. I mean, if a guy can squirt paint from his ass onto a canvas and call it art, why not this? Anything can be art in that sense. A photo of a turd in a toilet can be art.

I like Mr. Stabby much better.

A sickly, or rather sad view of life as depicted on the computer level,
hoping to be confused as art. With a lower case "a".

Just sorta out there but quite sad...he has few obtained his minutes of fame. (Using the term "fame" in the lowest sense."

I'd move on.
