Designing in 3d.

Hi everyone!
I'm currently modeling a kitchen in 3d as a piece for my portfolio.
this kitchen does not exist but it might if my parents decide to remodel the house.

what i have is a big empty room and the possibility of 2 entrance on the left side. where the word entrance is, stairs could just go up there. patio door doesn't have to be on that side. but it needs to be up there somewhere. north or east.

I got a few of the objects in already. the shelves behind the table on the west wall have to stay there. and the counter is just my 1st idea. Any designers here want to help me out?

Lost area could house a dining table, some chairs, and a China cabinet.

the problem is that my entrance is there. what would i do with the south-west corner?

edit: right now, imagine it's just an empty box. i think the entrance could change around too. the only thing important is the south wall. (living room entrance)
north wall's windows don't even have to be there. they can change.

west wall's cabinet/shelves need to stay. south wall's entrance and window hole should stay that way. the rest can change. any tips would be fucking great!

Basic appliance setup is a triangle. Sink to stove to fridge, for example. I wouldn't set up a table and chairs in the work area; flip the counter and stools 90 degrees to the livingroom so that there's a flow during social times.
Sinks traditionally face under a window, but there's nothing wrong with putting it on an island or wall. The lost area appears big enough for a dining/seating area, taking advantage of those windows and their view, as would the counter and stools.
Just thought of something: the sink can be placed more to the edge(facing would be more left) and the cooktop next to it, leaving the counterspace open.

I didn't touch this much this weekend. but i did some work. made the cabinets on the right side. it's not finished yet. and I added a couch area. possibly to fit a tv or fireplace. not sure about that top left wall.

An entertainment center wouldn't be a bad idea at all. You could always put a woodburning stove in the corner....

I'm using 3d studio max 8 for now. simple Scanline renders.
I haven't given up on this project. i just got a job and it made me not want to do anytthing productive after... I'll pick it up this week for sure. possibly tonight.
