Tree Dancers Gathered
 

I have done a few Tree Dancers, and a couple of related drawings, in the last few months. I have noticed that the good folk of TFP seemed to like the ones I have posted :thumbsup: , so I thought I would show a few more that are currently sitting in my sketch book. A couple of these will be getting cut out of said book soon, but there will still be some left inside for when it winds up on the shelf.

Really nice work. My favorite is the last one you posted. I really like how the lines flow, and the circular curves in the background frame the Tree Dancer beautifully.

You need to be on staff for a fantasy book publisher!

you do color so infrequently, it's different... but I love it - that last one is exquisite...

and they should be notecards or framed work... they are beautiful... and should be shared

Hoom hom indeed Charlatan :lol: Actually, there is a related set I have never drawn, but I like the idea of - and that is Mist Brides, who would be cousins to the Entwives but live where land and water meet.
Thanks ng - I was thinking how the little images I can attach to the posts here at TFP look like cards. They look pretty neat that way, don't they. Maybe I need someone to help direct what I do so that it ends up as cards that carry sweet words. I know that would be a wonderful source of income, in addition to the pleasure I would get from sharing in such a manner. Actually there is a show in Toronto called Square Foot http://awolgallery.com/ to which I am submitting 3 pieces for consideration. That is why I am cutting some out. Wish me luck :eek:
I have heard that Zeraph - and it is a very interesting idea to interpret these in 3 dimensions, in a manner that would fit with the outdoors. I should look into it.

I like colour Mal - I just have concentrated so much on drawing with pen and pencil that the colour sort of became secondary. That is the beauty of drawing with colour pencils, eh? Two birds and all that ;)
Thanks aberkok. I am interested any time. These days the studio time would be hard to work out if I was to draw you recording, but if you are willing to go with something I produce in my own studio . . . :thumbsup:
So, here is another one I did last night to get ready to submit to that show.

These are reallly nice, as usual you have a great technique in your drawings that is very personal. My favourite is this last one you have posted, because I feel that this is the one where you have meshed body and tree the best. Also it's the most artistic one whereas I feel the others would be more suited to illustration. Congratulations and good luck with the show!

that last one is really cool -- and seems to have a lot of emotion -- it's either really uplifting with a sapling sitting on the bigger trees knee while it's being told a story... or it's really sad like it's a tired old tree knelt down in prayer.... or sometimes a tree is j ust a tree and i should avoid commenting on art :)

Thanks little tippler - this is the third of the 3 submissions I am making.

I thought the first one was best. I didnt see the human form at first, but then when I did, it lept from the paper, contrasting to the white background. Very oriental looking. All the others are impressive, too. Ive always loved the concept of tree people. :thumbsup:
