Yeti and drawing tablet question

1 Attachment(s)
IMO my best pencilwork yet, can't wait to "digitize" it.

I'm about to purchase a drawing tablet sometime soon, don't know wich one though, any tips?

The Wacom Volito2 has an attractive price, might be enough for someone (like me) who's not going to use it professionally. Or do I need a bigger one? I just don't know.

that looks nice and small, is that somewhere between a graphire and an intuos?

Snoogans 07-12-2006 02:07 AM

It's about the same size as the Graphire, but half(!) the cost.
The Graphire is a whole lot better but do I need it?
What do you people use?

I'm no artist, but I use my Graphire (A5 XL) when I'm retouching photos, and find it to be allmost too big - but I wouldn't go for a smaller one if I'll ever have to replace it.

It seems that the volito is a Europe-only product. I have one of the original graphires (4x5") which works great for my smaller laptop screen, and an intuos3 (6x8") which I use for my larger computer screen. Both do an excellent job when I get around to using them. The main advantages of the intuos is that it has twice as many pressure sensitivity levels, and additional buttons and scroll touchpads next to the writing area.

The volito doesn't seem to come with a mouse for the tablet, which is probably why the price is better. To be honest, I don't like using the wacom mice, because it is like having only one mousepad that works. Unless you're compromising a lot of features by going with the volito, I could say go for it.

The ONLY thing that sucks about Wacom is the mice. totally useless.

I have a really small WACOM at work and the great big WACOM bastard at home. I find them equally functional. So, I guess the smaller one is better because A) it takes less space and B) it costs less money

I'm going with the Volito, if I in the future realize I need a better one it's not that big of a loss (49 dollars).

Thank you all for your help!

I think you'll be very satisfied with it. I'm looking forward to seeing your digital work.
