Fly,
I have no idea what the going rate is for that kind of thing. Let me look into it a little. Meanwhile, what do you think would be a fair price?

I love the wings part, but something about the way the heart is done takes away from it for me

Fly,
I like the way Clavus thinks. Couple free copies of the album, and being on the being on the guest list for sure. I would want a token payment too so I could add "professional graphic artist" to my resume. I'm pressed for time right now, but I'll shoot you a PM when I get a couple minutes.

I have to agree--I think it's because the wings of bone look so organic, but the heart outline looks kinda starkly geometric (not really the best way to describe it, sorry) in front of it.

However, it's a very cool concept and the wing execution is absolutely fantastic. And I think it would be highly effective as a album cover. It evokes a legacy rock and roll feeling to me. I really like it!

A humble suggestion:
Move the light source up and to the left a bit more. The light would also be reflected in the left side of the right hump of the heart. Move the main shadow down and right a bit more, and add smaller shadows to most of the perimeter.

This might take the edge off and give it a more 3D look that would blend with the bones.

I personally think the heart problem is strictly with shape... Purely a suggestion, as the piece does look amazing...

Maybe a slightly shorter wider heart, with more "voluptuous" curves?

To explain it another way, starting at the crevice at the top, start slightly deeper, come out in a graceful curve, and around the sides, but once you get to the "vertical" part of the heart (Math head here, vertical tangent line) come in a little harder, making for a tighter radius when you curve back out to the tip... If that makes any sense whatsoever... Ill try to find a picture...

EDIT:

A picture I did a while ago, but see how the left side is shaped? That kind of inspiration would make it fit the rock n roll idea a little better to me.

I also wouldn't rule out slight asymetry... Just my .02, that picture is amazing regardless, and far out of my legue using a computer. Fantastic job man!
