Comfortable, sexy undies!!

As some of you may or may not know, Martel and I go to Victoria's Secret a lot, and we always end up getting such neat stuff there. As a "larger" lady (meaning, as someone who is not shaped like their models) I often find it difficult to fit into any of their underwear. However, while pawing through the big bins of underwear at their semi-annual sale the other day, I came across THE greatest pair of underwear in the world:
http://www2.victoriassecret.com/imag...6769_CROP2.jpg

They're sexy, they're stretchy, they feel like you don't have anything on, and when you wear them you feel like your own private underwear model/porn star.

They also happen to be $7.99 a pair and they're in the panties section of the Very Sexy Lace collection Third pair down on this page

I also find Jockeys to be really stretchy and comfortable, and not give me any underwear marks, but I have a really hard time finding them in my size for some reason.

If you guys have any comfortable underwear recommendations to add to the pot, please feel free! :)

DKNY thongs. BEST THONGS EVER. While expensive when normally priced, they can be picked up for about $5/pair on sale at Nordstroms frequently. They're cut just right--and for someone that is larger than average, they fit perfectly :)

ChrystalRainne 06-11-2005 05:36 PM

thanks for the suggestion, as a fellow large lady, it's really hard to find sexy
underwear that isn't too tight i go up a size then i can fit becuse i find it way more confortable, for everyday, non sexy underwear i like hanes tagless, no pantyline underwear, not sure the exact name of the underwear. but there are no pantylines and no scratcy tag to deal with.

Sweetpea 06-11-2005 05:39 PM

I got some lowcut boyshorts from A&E last week and hubby loved them...I'm not the type to wear thongs much, so these are different than my "regular" ones. AND they are super comfortable. The Body by Victoria thongs are the most comfortable ones I've ever worn, but they sit kind of high so if you are wearing low cut jeans, they peek through. I'll have to look at the VS ones...and dammit, I know I'll end up buying some!!

Lead543 06-11-2005 08:27 PM

The boyshorts for AE are sooo comfortable...although not good for "hiding" lines. My biggest problem is my superlow pants and finding superlow under to match that actually is low and doesn't cut off circulation because it's too small.

streak_56 should take me shopping

Those lacy hiphuggers from Sage's link are very nice. My problem isn't the panties, which always fit just fine, but they always seem to be out of 32A bras to match. It isn't always easy for us smaller girls to find clothes either. Clothing manufacturers seem to have decided we're all a size 6 or 8, and those of us at the extreme ends get left out of the prettiest stuff. :(.

Thanks for the reminder, though. I might make a trip to get something special for someone close to me who's in need of some new undies.

I agree. Even with larger bras it's this way... I'm a 38C. The really pretty and sexy bras seem to end at a 36C. Lucky me. :rolleyes:

Anyway, I actually don't own a thong... yet. They have scared me to no end. I feel like someone would be able to see exactly what my butt looks like (even in jeans) if there was nothing there covering my cheeks. eeep. Although, that one up there looks very sexy. And I should stop having insecurities about my butt. I'm getting there...

Seriously...forget finding a sexy bra at 38D--except at Target! Thank God for Target.

I can't even express how much I love Target. The place can be very dangerous when I have money to spend. :D

Sage 06-13-2005 11:36 AM

onesnowy- you're a 38D? I'M a 38D... and I have a crapload of bras from VS that fit really well and are very sexy!

HUZZA FOR THE BIG-BREASTED GIRLS!!

Gilda 06-13-2005 11:42 AM

I can't tell you how much I envy my sister's being able to go into any clothing store in the country and find every style and color bra available in her size, 34b.

vic28 06-20-2005 11:21 PM

I have always been crazy about bras and panties...and I've worked at Victoria's Secret for about 3 years now, and love it. The thing that really surprised me when I started working there was how little I really knew about something I wore everyday. I wasn't even wearing the right size--which is a problem a lot of women have (you're supposed to be measured every 6 months). I know the bras are more expensive than some people want, but it's so worth the comfort. And if you shop the sales (big one starting now), you don't spend as much, and you get more of a variety.

I just love how so many things look sexy and cute, and are comfortable to wear.

Sage 06-20-2005 11:23 PM

Yeah man, I TOTALLY became a convert to "expensive" bras with my first VS purchase. They just fit so well and last a really really long time!

So, what I don't get about the bra measuering thing is that according to my measurements (near as I can tell) I'm like a... 40DD, except I'm really a 36/38D.... please vic, enlighten us about how to properly measure!

genuinegirly 06-21-2005 07:31 AM

These days i have trouble finding non-underwire in my relative size... 32d/34c. Bra shopping is of the devil. i've converted to sports bras.

superredhead 06-26-2005 08:15 AM

best bra ever has to be the VS Body by VS bras. WOW. they are super comfy, dont cut into your skin, and dont give you that tired "ive been wearing a bra too damn long today" feeling. as for undies, im definitely an a&e or VS boyshorts girl.

I spent entirely too many years working for The Limited and training people for Victoria's Secret - Measuring for a bra is pretty easy -- and there's a huge majority of owmen out there who are wearing the wrong size bra. If the cup gaps on you, or there's some spill over, or the back of the bra rides up, you are wearing the wrong size bra...

To properly measure:
(and it's best to have someone else measure you to get the tape measure even)

1. Measure around the chest directly under the breast at a constant height with the cloth measuring tape. Add 5 inches to that measurement.
This is your bra/band size
If the bra size works out to an ODD number go up one inch to the next EVEN number.
This should equal the circumference around the chest, directly above the breasts/under the arms.
2. Now measure around the chest at the height of the fullest part of the breast. The measuring tape should be held horizontal, flat on your back, and your arms should be down.
Make a note of that measurement (only used for comparison) and compare it to the Bra Size from step 1.

Determining your Cup size
3. To determine the proper Cup Size, find the difference between step 2 and step 1 (step 2 - step 1.) Use the chart below to determine your Cup Size.
Half inch AA cup
One inch A cup
Two inches B Cup
Three inches C Cup
Four inches D Cup
Five inches DD Cup

Now that method doesn't work for everyone... the alternate method is:

1. Measure around the chest directly under the breast.
2. Measure around the chest, directly above the breasts/under the arms.
3. If the difference between the two measurements is two inches or less, use the Step 1 measurement. If the difference is over two inches, you may want to try one bra/band size larger for comfort. This will be your bra/band size.
4. If the under-breast measurement is an odd number, add one to reach the next even numbered bra band size.
5. Now measure around the chest at the height of the fullest part of the breast. The measuring tape should be held horizontal, and your arms should be down. Make a note of that measurement (only used for comparison.)

Cup Size:
To determine the proper Cup Size, find the difference between step 5 and your bra band size. Use the numbers above to determine your Cup Size.

I'm not sure what the difference that adding the + 5 does - the second method seems to be more accurate..

~~~~~~~~~~
Note there are no real standards for bra sizing, so that fits in one bra manufacturer and style, may cause you to have spill over or gapping in another style. Always try on the bra before buying..
It seems arbitrary, but there is a somewhat silly reason for it. Adding 5 inches gets you to a point where the letters for the cup sizes match up with their positions in the alphabet: A=1, B=2, C=3, D=4. This is supposed to make more sense than A=6, B=7, C=8, D=9.
Try 38 DD- I usually buying bras that come in boxes. Not too sexy. My selection is beige, white, or black.
Sometimes, I feel like marketers want me to be 80 instead of 21.
try figleaves.com
a search on the US site (it's a UK lingerie shop, if ya didn't know) has 160 results for 38DD :)
Gilda 06-26-2005 01:28 PM
I was about to suggest Lane Bryant, but a quick stop at their web site reveals plain black, plain white, and plain pink in 38DD.
la petite moi 06-27-2005 09:39 PM
Those look awful, Sage. I hate those kinds of underwear, as they get lost in the folds of my vagina. Woops, TMI.
Biscuit Buns 06-28-2005 12:26 AM
Hey! I have the matching bra! :D And yes, you can get DD sizes at VS. ;) If you're a 38DD, go for the Shaping Body by Victoria full-coverage bra. It is divine.
Sultana 07-01-2005 05:37 AM
Hullo all! Relative n00b to TFP, but not to bra-wearing...
The thing that gets me with bras is that it seems such a rare thing to find a bra for the larger cups without the skinny, piano-wire straps.
So far I stick to Wacoal for the daily wear (Wacoal is terrific for the larger-busted), and Bali for the costume stuff (I occasionally make dance costumes) because I love that one with the wider-at-the-top-of-the-shoulder padded strap..
And I fear all stringy and thong undies :P Apparently there is a world-wide string shortage at the factory when I buy them--they always cut into my hips.
I like the super low-rise boyshorts style. I think the retro-ness of them is so hot, and I like to hope they're less likely to offer VPL.
Just had a thought--will this post be considered for advanced-placement membership privileges ? LOL.
Sugarmouse 07-22-2005 05:26 PM
I have never heard of adding the 5 inches, so I have probably been buying the wrong bras. But I think they fit all right.
I like looking at the second set of numbers. Makes them seem bigger for some reason. I don't know. I think I am a 34C, but I will have to be measured and check it before I going bra shopping this week.
shesus 07-23-2005 07:00 AM
My favorite underwear is made by Barely There. They are comfortable, light, and havce good coverage. I am not pulling them out of my butt constantly. Calvin Klein makes similar ones which I buy when they are on sale. To see the style go to:
http://www.barelythere.com/detail.js...mit=10&id=2426
As for boy shorts, They look good on, but I think they are so uncomfortable. They go in cracks and hurt in my opinion. As for thongs, only for seduction purposes or photos for the exhibition section. And that is my 2 cents...
Acetylene 07-25-2005 08:14 AM
I always dig through the 75% off bin in Kohls or some other cheap department store, so I always have an interesting variety of really tacky stuff. I also always buy at least a size too big so it doesn't leave panty lines.
shannon 07-25-2005 09:36 AM
for all you girls having a hard time finding pretty bras- i think it is a canadian company, but if you are ever up north i have found 40Ds and 38DDs at la senza. i've got to say, it's a bit hard to find them, but they are there.
Minx 07-25-2005 12:58 PM
Oh la senza is almost as good as Victoria's Secret....truly!
I spend omg way too much money when I got there.
The trouble I find is that I'm rather petite and if anything - the smaller sized panties (thongs) don't fit. Grrrr. I get around that little snag in life by going comando. :D
lokijeep 07-25-2005 03:28 PM
LOL Minx!
Recently I bought 12 pair of regular and low rise thongs at a Sears clearance- for a buck a piece! And they're really girly too! Lace, satin, one even has tassles! Not bad for a buck each LOL. The key to a comfy thong (for me anyway) is to make sure the string part in back isn't too thick or thin.
I rarely have matching bras though. At best I have 2 'working' bras at a time. I don't know why; I just never ever have enough good bras. And I'm a 34B... not a hard size to find at all.
minyn 07-28-2005 07:53 AM
those always cut into me for some reason. either they are to small around my hips or the crotch is goofy feeling.
im a fan of lacey boyshorts. see through shows just as much and you can still wear them places and surprise the honey!
cellophanedeity 07-28-2005 07:08 PM
I just bought the most comfortable pair of pantsu from La Senza the other day.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...ettypantsu.jpg
They were three for ten dollars, so my best friend and I each got one, and she bought the extra.
Jinxed 08-01-2005 02:49 AM
Comfy sexy undies, I seriously never knew there was such a thing!
