From your personal experience...

I figured it would be a neat idea if we all shared our stories and remedies of personal experience. Maybe we can all learn something from one another!

Mine would be- trying to skip a "period" while on the pill caused me to bleed regardless because I had only been on the pill for a few months. (I haven't tried it again because I'm afraid I'll waste another pack!) The moral of the story- you'll have to stop taking the pill and have a "withdrawl" bleed regardless if you've only just begun taking the pill.

I find that tanning just makes me feel better inside & out. It's relaxing and a good time to think when I'm in that stand-up booth. And to think, I'm claustrophobic and I just love it. Although I do get a bit fearful in the lay-down beds!

OK, now it's your turn.
"My story from personal experience is..."

Ooo what a neat idea for a thread!

My personal experience is...

don't tell a guy something is ok unless it really is ok. ie - "it's ok, you don't need to worry about fixing that now" translates to: "Don't ever fix it for all I care."

Even a leaf or piece of stem from a pretty succulent plant grows easily from a cutting. I have on multiple occasions snuck a little tiny piece from someone's overgrown plant while on a walk, and gotten them to live happily by putting them in a bit of moist soil.

Don't change brands of birth control if what you're on works for you. I went through three new brands where I wanted to die after a week because of how moody they made me or how bad they made my skin.. I keep returning to Yasmin because that's what works.

Hydrogen peroxide (diluted, of course!) can work as a good toner in a pinch.

Working with kids makes you feel both younger and older simultaneously.. but be careful when playing Red Rover. It can be a VERY violent game.

If you feel dizzy, sit down. Nothing good can come from blacking out (except maybe a story to laugh at later).

1)Always buy furniture with legs. Stuffing things under the sofa or bed when company is coming is quicker than actually putting them away.
2) Take a mirror in your hand, bend over and look at yourself. That is how you look when on top. At my age, I don't get on top.
3) Had I not been a sun worshipper, I would not have the crepey skin, the dark marks and freckles that I have now. I looked great tan, I look horrible with its results. Thank goodness I have oily skin or my face would be looking just as bad. In your 20's you don't think about that shit.
4) Ketchup cleans copper and brass and silver better than any cleaner made for those. Or those little packets of sauce from Taco Bell. Trust me on this.
5) Always, ALWAYS fill the script the doctor gives you, even if you think you won't need it. At some point, you will. Two years down the road, you might have a killer headache and keeping those Darvocets will be a blessing.

Make sure to get gas for your car no matter how late you might be running. Thank you AAA.

1. Never make haircolor decisions under emotional duress.
2. Men really don't care if your panties match your bra, but somehow I always feel sexier if they do.
3. A good hairdresser and good masseuse are all anyone really needs in the world. (See above.)
4. Shoes: sexy, comfortable, cheap. Pick two.
5. Never shop for bathing suits while you're PMSing.

Never drink when you're angry and alone...this just leads to people a the club you frequent asking you if you have come to collect your name.

when your SO hurts you, that hurt never really goes away...you might think it does and you may feel it does for the longest time and you may forgive and you can try to forget and you can have the happiest life after...but it never really goes away.

thats all i really have for now, will pop in again when i think of something else.

Absolutely. I have to agree with this.

From my personal experience:

- Taking the time to learn all you can about things you use (appliances, vehicles, house features like the furnace, etc) can really save you time and trouble when something goes wrong with them.

(For example: I learned everything I could about the components of computers through research, and taking them apart. Now I have a little side business where I build custom computers for people for nearly the same price you can buy one at a retailer! Except my computer will last longer, and I provide maintenance and instructions on maintenance.)

- Being open-minded and trying new things (whatever they may be) generally produce positive results, and are damn attractive to men!

Especially if that attitude extends to the bedroom.

I'm not sure if these are what the OP were looking for. However, they are things that I've noticed women doing or I've been guilty of myself.

Don't pretend helplessness. The damsel in distress thing is overdone. It's called the Princess syndrome and it just makes you look weak. Strength and straight-forwardness is better.

Don't wear lycra t-shirts that are too tight unless you are a size zero. The rolls are unbecoming.

Some things you just have to spend the money on (make-up, cleansers, shoes, etc.) The cheap ones will make you pay in the end.

Never opt for sweats and use the excuse, "But they're comfortable." Comfort can come in many forms and be more pleasing to look at. Think of the people that have to look at you before you leave the house.

Fad diets don't work. Just listen to your body, eat healthy, and exercise. Everyone is different and what works for one, may not work for another.

Don't put up with a man that treats you like shit. Life is too short and there are better ones out there. One of my favorite words of wisdom: Find a man that treats you like a queen because you always get demoted after marriage.

From personal experience: After (literally) burning my ass in a tanning bed, I decided I didn't want skin cancer when I was 40 and have since made peace with my pasty whiteness.

The person you gossip with? They gossip about you when you aren't there.

Clear mascara is great for taming flyaway hairs.

If you're with someone who cheats on you. Don't get mad at the woman he is cheating with. She isn't the one who owes you respect. He is.
So he obviously has no respect for you, Have some respect for yourself.
Dump him. Dump him immediately, Dump him hard core. Make sure he breaks his teeth on the curb when you kick him to it.
No excuse will ever make it right again. You can't repair that kind of damage.
Move on.

Spray hairspray on your brush and it'll smooth your hair down faster. If you're like me and have unruly curls, go without washing it for two days and you get the prettiest sleek ponytail. (Just don't tell anyone.)

3 strong bobby pins will help you pick the lock on most older desks and filing cabinets.

I have to add to the hair-washing bit. I was having a bit of issue with my natural curls going all frizzy and looking dry and dull. Low and behold.. I had washed the dog with this spectacular shampoo. Amazed at the results and how shiny it made her fur look, I gave it a go for myself. Needless to say, it gave me unbelievable results and I have continued to use it at least once a week ever since.

Seriously? What kind of shampoo? I'll buy some... for the dog, of course, of course. :expressionless:

You are SO right. So many women blame the woman that their man was with! WHY do so many women do that???

Curly Hair?

After reading a few posts on curly hair, just a word of advice on the dog's shampoo. BEWARE! Using it a couple of times can do wonders ... however the residue build up is even worse. I wouldn't advise using it for a long period of time!

Don't sleep on your curls! If you want to wear your beautiful curls out for more then a day WITHOUT having to wash, or wet it again, put your hair on the very top of your hear with a soft scrunci ... just make sure you don't pull it through for the last time, making it look like a bun. This keeps your curls protected inside. Anything else being exposed is underneath anyway. ;)

Definitely do NOT was your hair every day! I started going to a NYC salon whose clientele is ONLY curly heads. They give AWESOME tips and one of them is NOT to was your hair every day!

Oy. I wish. Right now I'm in the sixth month or so of growing my hair out from a super cute pixie. It was adorable... and my hair is very pretty when it's long... but right now I'm rocking the Lil Orphan Annie look.

Personal experience! Buy things from a local farmers market if you can. Not only does it usually taste better, but you meet the coolest people, support your local economy, and get great things you can't find at the grocery store. I bought eggs from an Amish guy today, bread from a local bakery, milk from the oldest dude I have ever seen, and a pretty pottery mug from someone I think may be Santa's hippie cousin. Oh, and fried apple pies. YUM.

I wanted to find a direct link to the company to show you what the bottle would look like however it seems that is an impossible feat. I hate to sound like a salesperson or anything. I will say that it does state on the bottle that it should be used for animal use only. However it does not really appear that the actual product contains anything that would not be found in typical for-human-use products either.

In any case here is a picture of the bottle.

I believe the safflower oil, lanolin and glycerine are the likely ingredients of my hairs positive response to the use. It is definitely not cheap though.
