What is a lip plumper? How does it work?

I'm not sure how it works, but it seems to make the lips darker and fuller by irritating them slightly, making the capillaries expand. I have "Lip Venom" and it just tingles and tastes cinnamon-y, and I notice a slight increase in fullness and color for a while. I'm sure there are more permanent ones out there, but that's the only one I've tried.

I believe that the lip plumping balms and such work buy making blood rush to the lips. This makes the capillaries expand and the tissue plumps up, kinda like when you get a bug bite and it swells up.

Be careful. Some lip plumpers make it feel like your lips are on fire. Not sexy.

I have Lip Venon and the one that Victoria Secret puts out. I like Victoria Secret better. Seems to last longer and plumps a little better for me.
