and yet I still feel like a newbie

WHOA suddenly the TFP is twice as big. So now I'm a member, and thats awexome and I'm very excited, but please answer me this:
Did this happen when I ticked over to Crazy, or have I had my review?
If I've been reviewed, I have to say I was kinda expecting a little report :) or even just a PM saying "You have been reviewed and are now a member".

ShaniFaye 12-29-2004 04:32 AM

I never got one....it was like...all of the sudden one day there was more board to look at

Lak 12-29-2004 06:01 AM

well there you go.
cool, thanks whoever reviewed me :D

tecoyah 12-29-2004 06:18 AM

It is when you reach the crazy status.....and see nothing new, that you should worry about your review. All are reviewed as they are noticed or reach a certain level.....depends on quality of contribution.

blitz.fenix 12-29-2004 10:13 AM

Yeah when I ticked over I was impressed at how much more there is to explore. Its like there is too many places to go

mac03 12-29-2004 05:28 PM

well how long you gotta be around here to not be a 'rookie' anymore?

Tracybrian 12-29-2004 06:01 PM

like 4 ever
no I think it is like 50 posts just kick back and enjoy and before you know it...... or so I am told

Powderedmaggot 12-30-2004 10:40 AM

My first post. What do I need to get crazy? Or tilted?

SiN 12-30-2004 10:48 AM

^ Tilted and Crazy are User Titles.
Just like Rookie is one ...

Titles are directly related to post count ...

However!

What matters around here is quality, not quantity. We want thoughtful and mature contributions. Walk around, check out the forums, and if you see a discussion that you can add to, by all means, do so!
That is what you should be concerning yourself with.

and, welcome!

go-girl 01-24-2005 05:11 PM

welcomed how?

i mean it i really don't feel welcomed or maybe it is just me what do you think? :

Glory's Sun 01-24-2005 05:17 PM

I'll personally welcome you go-girl. Find some interesting subjects and post that will always help with things

wolf 01-25-2005 11:36 AM

It was funny, all of the sudden there was just more, I keep wondering how much more there is that I am still missing.

Give it some time... it isn't like there is a welcome wagon or anything. The more you post the more people start to notice you posting...

Pretty soon, you are just a part of the communal madness.

younggunz 01-25-2005 05:03 PM

I registered here a while ago but only now have decided to start posting....

I find myself with more free time than I realistically should have in my situation, so hopefully this community will give me somewhere to turn when I feel like I've somehow exhausted everything there is to see and read on the internet.

You just need to make yourself more visible. You only have four posts which means many of us have never seen you around before and therefore, haven't had a chance to interact and get to know you. Even though I have posted much more than you, I sometimes feel as though no one here notices me. I just try to keep in mind that I have only been here 2 1/2 months so I'm still one of the new guys in the neighborhood. Visit and post when you can. Add your input to a topic, offer advice where you can or start a post (after searching to make sure it hasn't been started already). It will all come together in time.

Oh yeah, welcome to TFP go-girl. :)

check out this thread:: http://www.tfproject.org/tfp/showthread.php?t=45061 section III should explain the review aspect of the board

he_haha 01-26-2005 07:31 AM

i love my rookie title

TexanAvenger 02-03-2005 04:32 PM

^ Way to go he_haha. Finally somebody enthused about the Rookie title. Even if you don't still have it...

jstory 02-05-2005 07:09 PM

So crazy is when you get the new boards, good deal :)

um, not quite.

User Title != board access/member 'status'.

/me quotes herself from another thread..

worthwhile posts ... there are a couple forums where posts do not count towards this total. Nonsense, for example. Why should be obvious.

User Title is part of the board software, and is automatic.

Your status generally refers to the mysterious full member privelige.

these 2 things are somewhat dependent (notable contributions are a 'filter' for the status processing) ...
('Status' is indeed on a case-by-case basis).

but they are 2 different things.

and, above all ... don't worry about it!
Just hang out, participate, enjoy yourself. That is what really matters.

looks like there was some confusion about user status and titles and full membership which is explained here

MiSo 02-25-2005 11:45 AM

i browse the forums alot, but only post when i have something to say...

so it looks like i'll be a newb for a while =(

dX927 02-25-2005 12:28 PM

yeah, it's the same for me. i come semi-regularly and look around but only post if i really have something to say or i'm agreeing with someone just like right now lol.

0energy0 03-06-2005 03:49 PM

i think of the "status" as "levels" such as leveling up in final fantasy or pokemon. isn't it pitiful that i have to refer to video games to describe my "status"?

0energy0 03-06-2005 07:57 PM

whenever i post, what is the red dot under my name? on others posts by other people, their dots are not lit up. they also have an exclamation point?

The dot has to do with whether or not you're currently online (in grey is offline, green is online, red is invisible). The exclaimation point is to report a post. You can get an explaination by hovering your mouse over the images.

Only because you used pokemon as your example...

Eh... one analogy's as good as another.

Just try a few more posts here and there (as long as they have meaning). Then, suddenly you'll want and have more to say. I guess it takes some practice just like anything else.

HAL3000 04-04-2005 09:25 AM

You mean I'm going to get a performance review?

I think I'm going back to work to soak my head. ;)

dX927 04-07-2005 03:21 PM

I finally hit my 100th post today. It feels like some huge accomplishment for some reason, especially since it took me a long time lol.
