You know how I said I would mail the check that day unless I forgot... well I forgot. But now the letter with the check is in the mailbox waiting to be picked up. You will recognize it because the paper that I folded around the check has trade information of goods from the Carribean on it... That and I put my nick, and a little note too.

how long after we donate does it usually take to register with our account?

I just clicked on the Donation thing at the top of the page. I am thinking about donating...But it said the minimum is 50 dollars..I don't have 50 dollars to donate, I was thinking maybe 30 or so.

Help.

Ok, I have never done this shit before.

I filled out my Credit card Info..Below that there is a billing address..Do I have to fill that out?

I live in Canada and there is no where to put my Postal code...Only a spot for a zip code...And it's required.

Why do I have to fill out the billing information for anyways?

EDIT: I don't think Canadians can use this to donate, I tryed filling out the Social Security Number..But it won't let me put my whole Social Insurance Number in the required field.

Don't know what to do now

Currently, PayDirect only accepts credit cards that were issued in the United States and have a valid billing address in the U.S.
So that counts us brits out too. :(

Why is it so few of these things accept non US cards.
PalPal is the only one that I know of and it took them years to start doing it. Not even the Amazon.com honor system allows it but I can still buy stuff off them with a non-US card.

Dammit dammit dammit, I've been trying over and over again to get verified on PayDirect and it keeps telling me it can't!
I am a regular US citizen, with a regular US checking account, and a regular Visa credit card. It's telling me my social security number is wrong... that's kinda scary. Ah well, I have to go to the bank tomorrow, maybe I'll get some more checks being as I only have my one "emergency check" and this isn't really an emergency.

sexymama 09-14-2003 07:31 AM

Yea -- I was finally financially able to donate. Silly me, I had to ask Lebell how to do it other than "snail mail" as I usually use Paypal. It was easy to just click on the link at the VERY TOP of the page and only took about 4-5 minutes to fill out the forms. Thanks for a well managed and fantastically open site!

Mephisto2 09-15-2003 07:08 PM

Donation assistance

So do any Mods have a personal Paypal account I can send money to so they can donate on my behalf?

Yahoo Paydirect does not accept non-US credit cards. And yes, there is a world outside the USA!..

:)

Mr Mephisto

redravin40 09-15-2003 08:17 PM

I guess you can use the snail mail with a money order though I understand what a PITA that would be.
We'll see what we can do otherwise.

Minx 09-17-2003 01:15 PM

I use snail mail and money orders.....works just the same, just a little slower! Oh, but the exchange rate sucks big time!!!!

skinbag 09-26-2003 09:46 AM

I -think- I donated...what a dumbass..full of second-guesses. Well here's to the magical e-payment! I'll watch for it on my bank statement. If it didn't work? My apologies to Halx.
(I'm not sure if the confirmation email was for registering on yahoo, or actually paying up the dough.) I'm sure it was. *repeats to self once a day for 1 month*

Mupwah 09-27-2003 04:42 AM

Just sent some cash by Yahoo. No problems.

tekaweni 10-05-2003 01:56 PM

I clicked on the Yahoo PayDirect button, but it said the minimum donation is $50. Thats a bit steep? I can afford about 25-30. Maybe I'll just stick to earning my keep by posting :(

Quite miffed that you have such a high minimum, I have to say.

The amount is actually $ .50 or 50 cents or fifty nifty miniature portraits of Abraham Lincoln.

actually, after trying to go through the "legal" hell of Yahoo Pay Direct , with all the bullshit terrorist crap, I will send (snail mail) $25. What was wrong with the old PayPal?
I really find it objectionable to answer ALL of the questions Yahoo raises based on the "Homeland Security Act". Is this the norm with any site that transfers money?
(I haven't sent money for at least 4 months...)
just wondering...

Sounds like that they told TFP to stop using them because TFP is an "adult-oriented" site.

Mods: You may want to add that to Zerocool's original post (saying that you can't use Paypal.. I read through half the posts to find that out, although it was good to learn a bit more about it.)

I'm pretty sure I donated, I had just created this payahoo account or whatever it is. It says the donation was successful, so I guess we'll see.

Thanks for a great board all!

quadro2000 10-21-2003 12:52 PM

Okay, so I donated on 10/9, and never heard back from anybody about whether my donation was received. I logged back into the Yahoo account today and it says my donation was cancelled on 10/15. Can somebody please look into this and PM me to see if the info on my donation was ever received? I PM'd Hal(x) last week and never heard back.

Halx 10-21-2003 01:09 PM

hmm sounds like I took too long to accept the payment... I've not been finding the time to go through donations lately
gonna try to get it going today if you wanna send again today

Dude...find the time to accept money! :)

I just re-sent the donation...please let me know either here or via PM if you've received it. I put in an e-mail to Yahoo just to see if it was on their end.

Latch 10-25-2003 04:19 AM

Just a question... what's the average turnaround on the "Donor" tag thing after donating? I know you've been busy lately, that's why I've waited about 3-4 days after you accepted my money.

puddlesmilo 11-03-2003 03:26 AM

After reading this whole thread I'm confused.

Yahoo wanted WAY too much information.
I'm told Paypal won't do it. But some have paid that way.
Who do I make the check out to? If I decide to send it that way.

Does it ever. My 40$CDN contribution is gonna turn into 30$US, whatever helps though.

goddfather40 11-22-2003 02:43 PM

I just tried to send in a donation through Yahoo Paydirect and when I tried to submit the order, I got a message saying, "Invalid email. [Message: 231]"

I believe they are saying that the email that is receiving the payment is invalid. Does anyone knows what's up?

rockogre 12-01-2003 01:02 PM

Well, I miss the old PayPal but I have muddled through with my usual quarterly donation.

Damn, I really want to make a donation, but the only way I would be able to do it is with paypal, since I happen to have 10 dollars sitting in there right now that I pretty much have no use for.

Thogg 12-11-2003 04:08 PM

I know someone mentioned it somewhere...but there is no way to set up a private paypal that we can send too? And just don't provide a link to it on the fourms? I tried to set up a yahoo account and it kept saying it couldnt identify me over the internet and to e-mail them...so i did and they tell me to fax my SS# and a bunch of other crap to them to get the account set up...no way in hell am i gonna do that...Don't see why they couldn't set up an account w/ the same bank account that i use for my Paypal account /shrug...Will procrastinate for abit more time before i send it through the mail :(

cowudders14 12-14-2003 11:20 AM

Ok, I have read every post here and one thing that seems to have been overlooked:

I can log into my bank account online and enter a sort code and account number to transfer money to. Thus, Halx, if you were to put up your details, we could transfer money directly to your account. That would make things a little easier and also would remove the cut the yahoo takes...

Having said that, this does assume that UK bank accounts can transfer to US ones... Not really sure how that would work. I noticed an "international account number" appear on my bank statements a few months ago - do you have something similar?

moonstrucksoul 12-16-2003 12:16 PM

do you get confirmation ? i donated earlier this week and i haven't heard anythiong back from the board, like a PM or something.

kraz4u16 12-16-2003 03:29 PM

Mine just done

thingstodo 12-18-2003 04:34 PM

I'm finding some cash to toss in. What shows on your credit card statement?

GremlinDelirium 12-18-2003 08:12 PM

OMG, paydirect is the worst thing ever!! I just tried using it and it wants to do way too much crap for a simple transfer. Also, there isn't a simple 'log in to donate' feature' that I noticed... hopefully you will be able to find some online replacement to make things a little easier.

thingstodo 12-19-2003 03:58 AM

I could swear I posted this question here yesterday.... how does the donation show up on your credit card statement?

Devilinmypants 12-20-2003 03:11 AM

did you guys every get my check?

Rainmountain 12-20-2003 05:45 PM

Thanks again for all your hard work

d4in 12-29-2003 11:16 AM

teshadoh 01-13-2004 10:49 AM

BigBlueWrecking 01-13-2004 11:45 AM

I am pretty sure it worked though.....thanks again for all of the hard work you guys do.

Now I just wish I had enough time to post here more often. Thanks by the way, to all those involved in the creation and maintenance of this excellent collection of forums, etc. You're hard work and dedication to quality is very appreciated.

MichaelFarker 02-18-2004 01:44 PM

I've loved this site for quite a while. I fiinally donated just now. This is my first experience with Yahoo! Pay Direct, and I hope it works. Thank you to everyone who has made this site what it is.

Strange Famous 02-22-2004 08:16 AM

As far as I can see, the Yahoo link wont let me register a UK address.

I always use bidpay to pay for auctions and stuff and it works fine for me (Wester Union/Meridian Group)

If I can make a donation by bidpay, I'll do it - so... can you accept payments via that provider?

teshadoh 02-29-2004 08:52 AM

Ok - money was withdrawn from my checking account & I received notification from Yahoo that I spent the money. And now I notice people that have donated since me (January) - what gives? Not that I'm going to cry about it but having a shiny 'Donor' tag would be swell :-)

BigBlueWrecking 02-29-2004 01:29 PM

I am in that boat too. I am not worried so much about the donor tag, I am more worried that I sent the money to the wrong person. It was not a lot of money, but I still want it to get to TFP and not someone else.

elpha 03-02-2004 10:57 PM

hey, i'm back from a long tenure, and i'd like to donate. am understanding that paypal is no longer an option?

Brian Warner 03-15-2004 06:55 PM

I gave at the office.

frankgrimes 03-21-2004 07:04 PM

like others in this thread, i donated some time ago and am not sure if the $ were recieved. i guess some donated via some newfangled electronic means, i sent a money order by conventional mail around the end of Feb. I understand the admins are too busy to email confirmations of donations recieved or anything like that, but i guess this is why everyone is so anxious to get their donor tag. hoping to see it sometime soon...?

Demon Deacon 03-22-2004 02:50 PM

With all these people getting donor tags it seems quite obvious that there would be an excess of funds since a website surely doesn't cost much to host.

Where does all the money go ?

Halx 03-22-2004 05:03 PM

I've collected about $65 this month so far... colo hosting for 2 servers, one is 4U and custom... $400/mo
This does not include other fees which are yearly and one-time

How can us TFPers outside of the US pay electronically? Halx, if you PM me some account details, can I telex transfer you some funds?

Obviously if you say "Yes" then I will do it. I'm not just asking out of interest :D
