You will not be deleted......but you will be missed

El Kaz 01-05-2005 02:03 PM

Out of curiosity... What does the "Loser" title means, and how does it differ from "Banned" ?
Saw it a few times in older threads, and I don't think they were custom titles?

tecoyah 01-05-2005 02:19 PM

Loser is someone....who not only got bannned, but managed to piss someone off along the slippery path of bannination. Think of this as an individual who was not only useless to the community, but a true detriment.

Is there any way to check your points or know how close you are to your advancements.

Also, do you guys actually check every post or how does your scale work.

Cadwiz 01-06-2005 03:09 PM

POINTS! - We don't need no stinking points.

Just hangout, have fun, and PARTICIPATE!

There are no points....but as mentioned inumerable times....quality is extremely important when posting.

I took the liberty of giving you a quick review.....let us just say this:

"Nice Tits" does not a quality post make.
20 posts is far below the level where we even consider looking at evaluation for full membership.
We look at outstanding posts, and accumulated pointless posts.
If the scales lean one way or the other......membership is granted or denied.

My advice:

Use more than three words in your replys
Spend a little time in General discussion

You will get there if you become involved

Zach 01-08-2005 06:19 AM

I got a couple

1. When will the Cubs win the World Series?
2. When will the Cubs even get into a World Series?
3. When will the Vikings win the SuperBowl?
4. When will the Iowa Hawkeyes win a national championship (in anything other than Wrestling)?
5. Am I predestined to live a winless life?
6. What is sex like with another human?
7. Is it wrong to get it on with your sisters cat while shie is tied up in the corner?
8. Are Randy Moss and Sammy Sosa gay lovers?
9. Would you like to have sex with my sisters cat?
10. Why?

tecoyah 01-08-2005 06:42 AM

1) 2012
2) 2012
3) 2008
4) never
5) No....but you are unlikely to better yourself due to lack of self esteem
6) Emotionally draining, Physically satisfying, spiritually enlightening
7) Yes
8) This is only likely in your own fantasy world
9) No.....and you seem to misinterpret the term "Pussy"
10) I find Human companionship to be enough, for my physical needs

As a side note......You really need to get out more Zach

ranger 01-24-2005 12:33 PM

What is the "avatar" and how do we get it?

Cadwiz 01-24-2005 01:32 PM

The avatar is the little picture under some members user name. You get it after enough meaningful participation.

munchen 01-24-2005 07:07 PM

I've seen reference to this a couple times but I don't know what it is. What is an internet troll? what is trolling? does anyone know anything on online etiquette thats worth checking out?

Bossnass 01-24-2005 08:52 PM

A troll is someone who looks for arguments/flamewars online. It is a bit of a dual meaning. First: you go 'trolling' when you are fishing, slowly crusing with your bait dragging behind waiting for a bite, much as people write inflamatory posts and wait for someone to take the bait and continue the argument. Second: trolls are stupid ugly beasts with thick skin. Much as internet trolls are not easily offended and are usually stupid beasts.

Also, drop the term 'netiquette' into a search engine... I seem to think that once found me various resources worth checking.

munchen 01-24-2005 09:40 PM

nice, thank you sir

hambone 02-01-2005 01:43 PM

Not a big deal, just wondering, but does entries in your journal or comments on other people's count towards your post count? Just wondering because I am semi-close to an avatar I think, but whatever, it doesn't matter.

I just like the journal and reading others the best, but if it doesn't count, oh well.

Thanks in advance

Averett 02-01-2005 01:57 PM

Nope, they don't count hambone...

hambone 02-01-2005 02:00 PM

Thanks Averett. That's what I figured.

Oh well, just takes longer :)

drakers 02-02-2005 12:27 PM

I was wondering I have surpassed the 250 mark to recieve an avatar, but I haven't (unless I read the rules wrong). Was wondering if any of the moderators could fix this or let me know the 411.

hambone 02-02-2005 12:33 PM

drakers. I believe in the rules they say that they have to be 250 quality posts, so that makes me think once you cross the amount, they do a quick review of the content of your posts before opening up the avatar option.

Mods, is this correct?

tecoyah 02-02-2005 12:59 PM

That would be incorrect. In reality.....should a member contribute to this community in an exeptional manner they may be evaluated at any time, After one month on the boards. Each user of these forums is "Checked Out" before full membership is granted.

Give it a couple weeks drakers......and we shall see.

drakers 02-02-2005 01:22 PM

thanks for responding...I shall wait in anticipation.

Halx 02-02-2005 01:30 PM

If ya don't mind me asking.. how do you 250 times in 2 weeks?

Were they mostly intelligent posts with something interesting to say? If so, then thank you. If not, then keep wonderin' about that avatar.

DJ Happy 02-03-2005 12:51 AM

Do you get the option of a custom title at the same time as being granted a custom avatar, or are they separate privileges?

tecoyah 02-03-2005 02:39 AM

non inclusive...............membership has its privledges

DJ Happy 02-03-2005 03:04 AM

What do you mean? Membership of what?

tecoyah 02-03-2005 03:21 AM

There are several levels of participation attained at TFP. Some of the levels are attained automatically through a formula built into the code of the forum software. Some are given as a reward to those contributors who show the maturity and respect needed to interact as part of the community Membership. The latter are not automated and must be turned on after careful evaluation of posts, and consideration of history.

DJ Happy 02-03-2005 03:40 AM

Ah yes. I've already been granted access to the "Hidden Boards," and I saw today that I am able to have a custom avatar (yay!). So is the custom title the last privilege awarded?

If so, I await it with eager anticipation.

how is making quality posts "jumping through hoops"? Is it so hard for someone to carry on an intelligent discussion? There are WAY too many topics on this board for it to be considered a challenge to take part in discussions. I really wonder about people sometimes

In your user CP you can set it so that any thread you reply to you "subscribe" to. You can choose to get email notifications about it or simply mark it as a subscription. Then when you want to reply or check the discussion, just go to User CP and then click on subscribed threads....from there it is easy. This is a great way to find a discussion if you have been away for a while and it has sunk to the bottom.

Have fun!

I don't understand the theory of just posting to get an avatar for no reason. An avatar isn't that big of a deal.

Actually....we noticed the "activity" shortly after you started posting on the 6th.
As most here are aware, that is not the way to gain membership. In fact it often delays the flipping of the switch. It is helpful to understand that this is not like most forums, we do not use Bots to track our membership.....we use a staff of Humans and track the Quality of posting from Everyone. PLease keep this in mind in the future as it will likely benefit us all.

0energy0 03-08-2005 09:54 AM

ahhh, but as you can see...my posts are quality....well most of them

BigBen 04-06-2005 01:51 PM

Quality pics to post, but a quandry...

I have photos of famous paintings.

Chegall
Monet
Van Gough
Matisse
Pollack
Picasso

I saw these while touring the National Gallery in Ottawa, and I took pictures to share.

Problem: In Tilted Artowrk, it says original work only. I have never pretended to be as talented as Monet.

In Tilted Photography, although these are MY pictures, am I allowed to post photos of other works?

Aha! Not nearly as clear as I once thought.

Help Tecoyah!

tecoyah 04-07-2005 01:15 AM

Yes....you are allowed to post "your" photographs in Photography.

paddyjoe 04-07-2005 04:01 AM

BigBen931, I think the exhibiting of others artwork to be kind of a 'grey' area. Quite possibly we in the photo forum would rather see your original and unique views of perhaps, the museum the works were housed in, or the neighborhood housing the museum, or even the folks you visited the place with.

While I never turn down a chane to view such masters as the ones you had a chance to see, I really enjoy the opportunity to admire photographers original compositions.

BigBen 04-07-2005 06:30 AM

thanks for the heads up. I really thought that was the case.

I think they should go into artwork, because they are art.

Who wants to see a photo of a painting in Tilted Photography?

You know where I am going to put them? In the regional forum, CANADA, since it is the National Gallery!

Hi tecoyah, I've heard little bits around the site that this used to be a 'titty board' type of place, are there any links or something around here that tells of the journey or evolution that has made TFP what it is today?

tecoyah 04-17-2005 10:11 AM

Sexuality,....and Living would be the spots. Nothing specific to Gays....as you will find we dont need to define each other in such a way here. Glory's Sun 04-19-2005 05:51 AM

yes rookie's can start new threads. At the top left of each forum you should see a button that reads 'New Thread'. Simply click on it and the rest is up to you :D

TrevDigital 04-30-2005 11:52 AM

I have a feeling you're going to yell at me and tell me that I should search or find it myself, but there is so much discussion about this issue on so many super long threads that I would really just like to ask here

Other than naked pictures, what is there to be had once you get upgraded? NO, I'm not looking for porno, I'm curious as to what else there is to be had. YES I am interested in talking to people online in a forum-like environment.

Finding free porn on the net is like finding cow shit on a dairy farm anyways.

tecoyah 04-30-2005 12:19 PM

The depths of conversation expand dramatically when full access is granted. We are careful in upgrade due to the extent of true communication that can be found in these boards, and work very hard to keep these areas free of immature debate, and those who fail to understand what it means to contribute to a community.
The actual content is something you may see for yourself at some point....but it is not for me to paint a picture of it. I will say this....

No one has been dissapointed at gaining full membership....no one.

I was watching something on TV last night about pre-historic art.

There was a bit about some fairly recently discovered #12,000 year old carved columns but I didn't catch the name of the place.

It was two words. First word begins with 'G' and is fairly long. The second sounds like "Tepê"

G--------- Tepê?

And this is the link to the BBC Website

An excellent question, and one I've pondered. Yes, there are the lounges that would traditionally appeal to men more than women, but there's nothing to keep a woman out of the baseball chatter if she so desired to be there. Men may have some things to talk about with interruption from women. It's long overdue here!

Our first topic: What's so hard about putting down a toilet seat? We can lift 'em, why can't they lower 'em?

This has been answered many times, but a little perspective : The ratio of male to female on this board is very high, and often, any predominantly male oriented thread will get enough feedback and responses from male posters despite its location on the board. Because the number of women is smaller, it helps our threads from getting buried among all the posts to have them in a centrally located place.

Renfairewench 07-25-2005 09:23 AM

I put the seat up for you

This thread reminded me of the time that I went to a party that was being hosted by an alternative lifestyles group. The party was held in a gay club, which was filled to capacity with all types of people and genderbenders. The kicker was that there were 3 bathroom stalls in one uni(everything)sex bathroom.

As I waited in line to relieve my bladder there were several gay men ahead of me and as one of them departed the stall he chuckled and said "I put the seat down for you dear". I laughed and said thank you. Not to be outdone, knowing that most of club was filled with men I put the seat up before I vacated the stall and said to the next person in line "oh, don't worry I put the seat up for you ;).

Jinxed: go here and follow the instructions on how to setup either mirc or xchat. That's the best we can do for you right now.

Jinxed 08-02-2005 08:02 PM

Tecoyah- Is that truly why you believe we are on this planet? I'd really like to know.

Due to the location of this Planet, with respect to its parent star, The elements of matter were capable of producing a biosphere. We, as Humans are here on this planet because.......we can be.

As to the philosophy behind your question, We are here to become more than we are. We have before us the ability to understand our existance, and become that which we percieve to be God. Human interaction, combined with Scientific Theory will inevitably result in an advanced understanding of what it means to be enlightened. With this enlightenment will come further advances in base understanding of our nature, and our place in the evolution of life in this Universe......insignificant as it is.

Though limited in scope, due to the general jovial attitude of the reply....Yes, I do believe this to be true. There is of course, far more to US than this, but the core thought is there.

They you for your response to the last question. Now, I am curious about something on TFP. Why aren't the locked threads deleted?

tecoyah 09-20-2005 09:03 AM

We tend to leave closed threads up , so that the community can understand the reasons for closure. This not only helps to set the standard, but also tends to send a bit of a hint if needed to the member(s) that may have caused the thread to Die. We try very hard to be transparent in policing this project....as in the long run, open communications are really what will define what this place becomes.

Call it a tool of our evolution.

I have some tech questions. When I look at my own posts, the search finds that I have made 56 posts. However, when I look at the rest of the profile, it says, Poppinjay as made 33 posts. I can read all 56 posts so I know they exist. Why does the other count stand at 33 (and has been standing at 33 for a while)?

Charlatan 09-22-2005 06:54 AM

Did you make some of those posts in the titty board? They don't count towards your post count... at least I don't think they do anymore.

Poppinjay 09-22-2005 07:15 AM

I've never made a post on the titty board. I made one post a year and a half ago when I joined and intended to participate. All the rest have come since I actually started participating a month ago.

Most of my posts are in NONSENSE, does that make a difference?

It may be a plot to keep me from putting up an avatar of me going down on Phyllis Diller. Which is understandable.
