I logged on today and saw that I had access to a few more boards, one of those being Members Playground and a thread called "Got an avatar? So do a few hundred others..." said I should now be able to have an avatar.

Hooray!

Except when I went to my User CP, there were no avatars available (since I can't yet use a custom one).

All it had was a Change Avatar button which after clicked said thank you for updating your profile.

Any ideas?

The avatar option will appear eventually, but may not coincide with your increased board access. Enjoy the rest of TFP!

The best way to be able to get all the neat stuff avators etc. Has nothing to do with post count.

If you just post for the sake of posts, you lose out on so much.

Look at this place as a real community that gives you the luxury of being as ineverted or exeverted as you like and in the same time build a good foundation of friends and information.

If you keep on feeding into the community in a fun positive way you will discover that thread count has nothing to do with the rewards that you receive.
Instead you will just lift your head up one day and be like oh shit I can put that picture of barbie up now.

Just you know I am not singaling anyone out, just posting my experience.. minus the Barbie pic lol

It's probably one of the effects of the switch. Hal is doing his best to keep up with any problems associated with the switch and it should all be resolved with a little patience. :)

I have talked about this on Tilted Support, but still have the problem. I have plenty of posts for an avatar, in fact I used to have one, but when I tried to change it, all that happened was I lost mine, and can't get another...Guess it will get straightened our sooner or later...

Don't let it torture you, tiltedbc. I was really anticipating hitting the 250 mark. As I got closer I started picking out my avatar and, even more, looking forward to the great conversation in the new forums.

This will be post 276, and I would consider myself a pretty good member of the community. Yet I have no avatar and no extra access. It was all very disheartening for a while. All that buildup and then... Nothing. I'm getting over it, but it still sometimes bothers me. Last night I actually had a dream that I had access to the new forums (does that mean I'm here too much if I actually dream about the place?).

Anyway, if there were never any avatars or member forums, I would still post. (Obviously, since I'm still posting.) I would recommend to all the newbies that you simply embrace the community. If you're just looking to get an avatar, you're not going to get much out of the TFP. But if you really sit down and take the time to read what some of your fellow members have to say, it will hook you like it did me.

Every day after I check the boards, I feel like I'm smarter than I was before. Not just smarter, I feel like I'm a better person. The anonymity provided by this format creates an incredible degree of honesty. It's conversation like you can have almost nowhere else. Embrace it.

my question is why that my post count says 15 but if you look at my number of posts its like 67 or so??? im not all that woried about it i was just kinda curious as to if it just counts quality posts or if it just is slow at totalling up everything.. just curious

I also went to my profile to add an avatar, yet, the radio button did not turn off (the one saying no avatar). I am confused. I suppose there is a thread that explains all this. IF so, it isn't readily evident. So what's the deal? is there a reward system for number of posts? Why not make avatars avail immediately upon registration.

how do you increase your member status?

I have almost 500 posts and I still cant obtain an avatar or view any member forums. I like to believe my posts are of pretty decent quality. :) It would be nice to atleast have an avatar or get 1 or 2 member forums.....but oh well, I guess I will have to wait.

I think its pretty kewl that not everything rests on thread count alone. I have been on so many other boards where members post all day and night just to get their counts up. In just a few days of serious involvement on these boards, I can honestly feel the sense of community. Its great how people can disagree without getting jumped on by 10 other members.

Yes indeed, this board is the most mature in that and in many other aspects than any other board I have visited.

It's the only reason I stay here, the sense of being able to speak your mind thoughtfully without people getting irratable at the first comment you make.

No, that's not the case. All active board members are registered, but your current status is a rookie.

I have been here for quite some time....and for my first month, I didnt even know there was a titty board. One day, all this "Important" stuff was just there, and I decided to take a look. While I enjoy nekkid women as much as the next guy I have spent very little time in these forums.
My point is.....If you truly use this forum as it is meant to be used, as a community of people, intersted in learning from each other it should make little difference to you whether the titties are here or not. I have donated in the past, and have yet to have the all important "Donor" tag placed upon me, and this is also unimportant as I know I am a part of this community. The contributions are more than monetary, and posting "nice tits" does not constitute constructive participation.
I will be sending another $20 to TFP because it will help continue a service I value very much. Not because I wish to Pay for Porn. Perhaps if those who are upset about this change did indeed spend a little time exploring the wonderful conversations that take place on a daily basis here.....they would not have time to worry about breasts, and by the time they remembered to worry....said breasts would be sitting there waiting for them.

I wish anyone can have an avatar...

I hate to ressurect a dead thread (dead and slightly rotten), but I'm curious if the avatar thingy is automated, or if a mod has to go in and hit a few buttons?

Both actually......the Avatar will automatically activate, Unless someone hits a few buttons.

A member can reveive an avatar only if they have 'full member' status (as is clearly stated in our rules).
said 'status' requires button-pushing, yes.

It gives you something to strive for. It helps you become a part of the community. Post count doesn't matter at all.. but becoming a member does. Avatar's are just a bonus for those who have contributed to the community.

There have been times in the past where the board slowed down and load times were painful. While the avatars wouldn't hurt it much more, they definitely didn't help.

I want an avatar and a full membership! I'm probably quite far away from it though :(

So how many posts would you say it takes to become a full member ?
