Banned vs. Loser?
 

While I'm not a newbie, I'm curious as to what the difference between these two statuses are.

hmmm, i thought banned would be banned and loser just what someone might call themselves (if they're self-destructive or something?)

ie. I don't believe loser would be something tagged on anyone, by anyone else (like a mod or someone else above the crowd). Cause that wouldn't be very nice :eek: Although i might be wrong?

hmm, My current sattus is All Up Ons...maybe i should change that to loser :hmm: :|

what I'm saying is.. they're both the same.. what it normally means is..

Banned is when a moderator bans them
Loser is when an Admin bans them.. but they also have the option of putting them as Banned.

So, its like super bannination. You must have to mess up pretty bad for that.

or you could just confuse the hell out of everyone and put Banned or Loser as your custom title when you are able to have custom titles... I know I would be confused, I would think to myself;
"Were not you banned like a few months ago... how are you still posting...? hmmmmm.."

so, it's not like those funky t-shirts that the kids are wearing? :)
e.g. Pervert, Loser, Pimp, Witness Protection Program....

the easiest way to tell fake bans is attempt to PM them. If they have a PM llink in their last post but it gives you the "not accepting" message they're really banned. If the PM button is missing they're faking a ban most likely. You can try emailing them to test that IIRC.

So, 'Loser' is just a way for us to slap our knees and say "ha! they're not just band, they're forever a loooooserrrrr!"

Banned means you're banned
Loser means you're banned and we think you're a loser

examples:
guy shows up, first post admits he's 16 - banned
guy shows up, brags about being a pedophile - loser

I think some of my posts are pretty offensive. Not bad language. Just "disagreements". What would it take to get banned or lost?

Just don't be rude. Don't make fun of people or put them down. Arguments are accepted here, and debates are encouraged. When people start bashing others and making fun of others then the bannitehzatininzation occurs!

It would be cool to have a thread where the mods and admins post all of the stupid stuff people have done to get banned or the loser status. Anonymously of course. I think it would make for some funny reading.

Why are certain email addresses banned from use? When I first tried to register with a yahoo email address, it was rejected as banned.

As was mine, and I was wondering the same thing.

I'm thinking one of the reasons may be that I was linked here from another forum and they were all trying to use the same username to get into the porn section. I looked around at all the other sections and realized this place wasn't just about porn and signed up. All I did was use an e-mail address at mail.com instead.

(And if that makes me banned or a loser, been nice knowing y'all!)

I suspect that the difference between banned and loser is about as meaningful as the difference between moderator and super moderator...

i tried that at another board once. the mods there were not very happy about it. then again i don't think that most of the mods there knew how to spell. my title was listed as 'band', and yet they kept PMing me. strange people they were...

banned banned banned, how do I get the feeling somehow that this member is walking on thin ice? har. just foolin'. is there a warning before this happens? maybe I'm just being too paranoid about the whole thing. Time will tell.

In most cases, there are multiple warnings.

I'm wondering what you see if you're banned. Will the page just load? Or will there be some witty thing on the screen like "You're an Idiot" or something?

They see a screen that just says that they have been denied access. Nothing more sinister, or evil than that. We are very...polite...about it.

Both. Sometimes, we "ban" as a form of "timeout", if you will. Sort of offering up a couple of weeks to cool off and get whatever bug is up someone's ass out.
Conversely, there are those that are so blatant with their disrespect, abuse, what have you...that it's best to just bring out the patented Ronco Axe-O-Matic, and be done with it.

I think I'll be on my best behaviour. Not that I was at anytime being bad mind you. ;)

I've had a couple of accounts banned for lack-of-postage, back when I was a leech on the Titty Board. I never got any warnings, but eventually I decided to grow a brain and donate.

After awhile I decided to check out some of the other boards. Now I rarely visit the TB, and contribute to the community like a mofo.
