Being a n00b again
 

It's just so strange that just a week ago, I was #16 all-time on the posters list, with an avatar, and a title, and everything all iced-out, and now, there's nothing. Still, I am ready to make every post count on the way to getting back to where I once was. It'll be a long process, but I can't wait for the whole TFP community to get re-upped and make TFP v4 even better than the rest.

I feel your pain, KWSN. I was well on the way to 5,000 posts, and now I'm at a miserable 3. :(

It's like the aftermath of a nuclear apocalypse. Just a handful of us, emerging from our shelters full of cans of spaghetti-o's, ready to repopulate this bleak, fresh world we have been given.

And I don't even like spaghetti-o's....

I had only just started when the board went tits up, at least it gives the newbies like myself the chance to keep pace with the old pro's. Im not helping am I? I'll get me coat.

Well, I guess it's only fitting that one of the newest threads involves post count - won't be the last, either.

OK, OK - this is my 3rd.

And I <i>had</i> 600.

I would have been here a year next month. I had over 1200 posts but it was that year thing that I was kind of proud of, and having an avatar.

Oh well, not the first thing that I have had to start over. On with the show.

wow I was proud of my 60 posts but you guys make me look pathetic

3000+ posts, a year in the making.....now it's 11 and less than an hour. Everyone's got to start over every now and then. :p

I think I had over 700, didn't pay that much attention.

Hey at least the database of lurkers cleared out.....and now we all are pretty much startting around the same time...

I lost all of probably 50 posts :).
This site is great, also going to be cool to watch you heavy posters climb up in post count.

I was somewhere in the 100 range, so I wasn't exactly a powerposter, but it's still odd seeing these single and double post counts here, and all the naked headers (no titles, no avatars, etc).

So who's going to be first to avatar status (not including Hal, of course)?

I can see this as a good opportunity to make my presence more known than it was before. I believe that we all have something intellegent to say and we can all learn a great deal from each other - especially if we all start on the same page!

I can feel your pain KWSN, i only had 150 posts but it still sux.

I dont remember my post count but its always sad to be a newB. Definitely dig this site and am very thankful that everything got fixed. Mad respect to the administrator for working his ass off and getting this back so quickly. it is definitely appreciated

I think I had only made it to 73 posts, but none of them were spam. I just don't seem to have a comment on everything everyone says. I think its because Im not good with words.

I was a member for probably 3 months, only had a couple hundred posts, so I didnt lose a whole lot, but I dont mind

I have lost it all!! Lamentations and remorse!

I was never that high on the posting scale, but I get what you mean. Its fun to take the opportunity to reinvent yourself, so to speak.

I think that I also had something close to 200 posts. And to think I was wondering what I was going to use as an avatar, guess I don't have to worry about that for a while.

I don't like this n00b feeling again. It's like being dropped back to freshman year in high school when you're halfway through college.

well i never go very high in the post game because i only talk when i think i should i dont just go around looking to post in every thread...But that could just be me.

Post counts don't change who you are, and caring about them doesn't make you any better. I suppose it's just a neat perk for participation.

I was finally closing in on that ever elusive avatar. Wouldn't have been half as difficult except I don't have anything intersting to say!

On the cusp of 1000...

Interesting is in the eye of the beholder. As long as you post something that has some thought behind it you will find that people are interested in what you have to say.
In some ways I like being a noob again. The avatar was never the most important part to me. Having a fresh start for everyone can be a good thing some times.

ahhhhh. so much work so little time.. Irregardlesss. my 300 plus post weren't much of anything compared to what some of you had.. I'm just glad t have the board back.

I was just getting to the point where people noticed me.

i'm just glad to see that the TFP is back up and alive again. I was more proud of my six months then of anything else, having just over 100 or so posts... anyways, i'm glad to be back!

Starting all over again for the fourth time.
Empty feeling as 3000 goes by the wasteside but TFP has gotten better ever time around. So having seen versions 1,2,3 and now 4 I look forward to building a better home with my bros and sisters. TFP 4 ever.

Sorry, but I'm still getting the gist of what this community is all about. I probably only had a handful of posts before the place had it's trouble. However, I was a little sad when I tried to venture here and everything was lost. However, that helped me to discover the IRC channel, and I found a whole new place. Maybe in time I'll find my niche.

Guess I'll chime in too. *grumble* *grumble* I miss my avatar already. Oh well, nothing like starting with a clean slate.

The worst part of this ' starting over ' process is what was lost in many hours of contributions over the past year. :mad:

I was just starting to explore TFP when it borked -- I like that everyone here is so polite and can write in complete sentences. For the most part.
I'm amazed at how prolific some of you guys are. Don't you have jobs to go to?
I doubt that I'll ever be in the top 100 posters, but I enjoy reading the forums and hope to contribute in some small, perhaps irrelevant manner.

A hard drive failure, the system equiliser and all all that.

Oh well back from something around the 30 post mark to one, at least there are plenty in the same boat.

i don't mind losing post counts nearly as much as i do the loss of everyone's awesome posts. there's was always something cool at tfp, no matter how many times i went back, and its sad to think that all those contributions are gone now

man, i was a n00b on v.3 and now, still a n00b on v.4 -- reminds me of Monty Python's Holy Graill, when John Cleese is running up the hill to the castle, and every time he's almost there, he gets reset to the bottom of the hill. I now feel his pain... ;)

Does everyone derive their validity as a person from their post count? Don't make no sense. If you have something worthwhile to say it shouldn't matter if you're a total rookie.

I had just nailed 666, uploaded my cool new avatar, gotten a cool title, posted a link in my signature, and my world collapsed. On the other hand it feels cool to be close to BoCo and Phred!

I was close to 1200 but now if you notice they took the numbers off and its only the level we are at now. :(

I was a member for less then 6 months before the upgrade, so its not like I had much to lose. Only about about 180 posts.

I'm glad someone started thid thread. For a moment, I thought it was only my problem.

i'm just glad tfp is up and running. almost like missing an old friend.

I hadn't been here for a while and when I dropped by, I was no longer a member and didn't know why. I thought I had done something wrong.
I think I had somewhere aroud 360 posts but, I am using this fresh start to give myself a new name. I used to be Captain Kangaroo but I decided to go with Mud Puppy this time around.

So that's what happened. Sounds like I'm in the same shoes as someothers. I registered back in Decemeber but school got to me and I wasn't able to visit as often come early April. Then I try to log back on today and I'm not a member....

Weird. Oh well, glad its back up. :)
