Forum Shorthand
 

Hey there,

I'm not really a noob, but I just wanted to find out what some of the forum shorthand means. I know that lol = laughing out loud and lmao = laughing my ass off, but I would like to know if there are any others that I (and others) may not know. Thanks!

We tend not to use that much shorthand in the forum.
There is a lot of it in chat but that's to keep up with the flow of the conversation.
Here, carefully constructed sentences are more appreciated.

I use the OMG-oh, my god occasionally

yeah, i see relatively little shorthand at tfp.
there are some i think i've seen fairly often though

btw = by the way
imo = in my opinion
imho = in my humble opinion
so = signifigant other
bf = boyfriend
gf = girlfriend

that a fact, Red? whats that NSFW that keeps popping up? :D

I sometimes use FM (fuck me) and ISASA (I'm such a stupid asshole). ;-)

I have to say, I've been an internet/chat junky for YEARS, and I've never heard that one. I prefer acronyms i can spell. :P

There's also 'stfu' for shut the fuck up. I don't know anyone who uses it in any way other than to mock the people who apparently say it seriously.

There are hundreds of little acronyms out there. Like Roy G Biv, if you wanted to tell the message board you were describing the rainbow.
