Hi from Germany

Hi,

I am Angie, I am from Germany and I am here to improve my english skills. :) At the moment I am learning englisch for the LCCI and - you see it - my grammar is very bad - I hope you can give me a little help. I think writing here will improve my skills a little bit.

Angie

BAD lotsofmagnets! Don't listen to him, Angie.

We are here to help. We have a lot of people whose first language isn't English on this board, so don't be afraid! Your first post was very good. You have the same problem I had when I was studying German--I would often accidentally write similar German words in place of the English word, or put the German lettering instead of the English letters.

Hallo, Guten tag. Oh, Sie wollten Englisch sprechen. Schade.

Although, Angie, from the looks of things, your English is far and above my German.

Tully Mars 06-12-2008 10:37 AM

@all

thank you for your wellcome.

@all who tries to speak german: I understood you very well :)

The LCCI is a certificate (I thank the internet dictionary LEO for translating something just in time). There a serveral Level. Level I is for the person who needs english a lot in the job. The test ist about reading and understanding english. Also you have to write a letter. Level II is for people wo needs more english. For this level it is necessary (I have problmens with this word. I always forgett, that there is only one C and two S  :) ) to write letters by your own words, take care of your grammar. You have to write a letter and serveral lists oder leaflets. This Level seems to be difficult. Level III? I don't know what is requestet in Level III because I try to do Level II and I think I will have enough problems to pass this exame. Level IV is for nativ speaker.

I know the problem with foreign languages - because I always try to translate my german in english. Our LCCI-teacher says that we have to try to think in english. That would be better for the english skills and for the exame it would not take so much time.

And now for the german speaker :) - to keep in toutch with german :) :

danke für die nette Aufnahme.

(thank you for your friendly wellcome)

Angie

Willkommen! My German is limited to random words I picked up. Hope to see you around here. Your English is good so don't worry, you'll improve soon enough. :)

And let me tell you, your nation has one fine football team. :D

Welcome!

I don't speak much German, but I do speak French and your teacher is right -- in order to be fluent in a language, you have to be able to think in it. It's a bit strange, really, but it becomes natural quite quickly.

If you have any questions about English grammar, go here; we have a lot of people who are very knowledgeable on the subject in our community, and we'll be happy to help you!

One question: what do you mean with football team?

We are calling soccer in german Fußball - and this is translated verbatim foot (Fuß) ball (ball).

Also we called football - american football. In this case I can't say anything, because I don't know anything about american football. :)

And soccer? If you mean this - you must be mistaken - because Germany had lost 2 games the days before. We have actualy the european championship in Switzerland. Yesterday Germany played again Croatia and lost this game.

This was no problem for me, because I am a half german and a half croatia. I am not interesseted in soccer, but I noticed, that the german team lost this game.

So today I entered the class - an jubilated: Croatia won the game yesterday and germany lost.

Then I learnt, that eraser are able to fly. :) To my luck, the thrower missed me, so I was able to say: It is no wonder, that germany lost the game, when the player plays soccer as you are throwing an eraser. :orly: After this words I have been ask to run for my live.

I hope this is giving you a little impression about the soccer passion in the european area.

And thank you for the link for the grammer. I think I have to use it often.

Angie

I think Laugh-o-Matic means that they're physically attractive.

Marcell Jansen is a hottie, I have to say.

Hey, welcome to the forums. As a fellow foreigner, I gotta say that posting on the forums does help you improve English.
