What are the average salaries of different occupations?

Anyone know where a chart of different salaries made by different occupations in North America can be found?

For example the average yearly income of : police officers $20, 000
advertisers $22, 000
etc...

Salaries are really dependent upon location... a position in a major market will pay a lot more than one out in the middle of no where -- but your cost of living will also be a lot higher...

Places like www.salary.com - allows you to enter a job title and a zip code and it willt ell you approximately what it will pay

Geez, that's so true...I'm planning to leave northern California 'cuz the rent is outrageous and the employors are rather greedy bastards. ah, but such, The Landed Gentry.

OKay, it's in Napa, but the real estate just isn't worth the money or inflation points now, especially since the flood plan is failing miserably! So those who own land are being wiped out or seriously challanged because most weren't insured properly in the City's flood plan.

It's a sad situation. Unless Napa prepairs to be the new Venice of the West...oh, it''s so Altantian...sorry I got Hollywood there for a second.

The Department of Labor's "Occupational Outlook Handbook" is an excellent source.

Beyond an economics study, to me it's more interesting to find average starting salaries and then the potential for overachievers. Many industries have a relatively flat range with a minority of exceptions for tenure or mastery. Other industries - often young or heavily tied to consumerism - look more like the Alps on crack.

Here's another salary reporting page. Allows you to search for different occupations.
