Do you have a wireless router? If you do, and IF I can come, I can bring my laptop.

Hey I just joined a few days ago but am really getting into this site. I live about 4 hours away from Rochester. Is the invite open to anyone on the forums or do I have to "put in my 9 to 5" first and get the inside invite? (Keep in mind it will be in the middle of the summer and I will have been on here for a decent length of time by then.)

Pain Train and amonkie - thank you for the warm welcome! And amonkie, I was perusing the post about the "view out of everyone's bedroom window" and can I say that I'm so happy for you! You know I really think brick walls look beautiful in the winter!

Yeah...they are selling the service. No more Canada link by boat....kinds sucks. But it takes about the same time to drive it as the ferry trip, depending on traffic and weather.

I am pretty sure that Kingston is even closer to Rochester than Toronto. It should only take a couple hours.

so... I am certainly coming over to the states in this period, Im gonna stay with my boy who lives near Old Saybrook, CT - so I figure Rochester isnt that far out of my way for a few days first, and it'd be cool to meet some dude's from this site.

Im probably gonna come into NYC and then bounce up to Rochester and then get a bus or something back down to CT.... this sounds reasonable to me, but then again I know fuck all about US geography.

Someone hit me up and let me know where exactly this thing is gonna happen though, so I can look for cheap hotels that I can crash at, cos Im not gonna have a car or any home base or anything so I wanna find somewhere as close as I can to save on transport. PM me or something it isnt cool to post the info in public.

Most people end up crashing at the house....but if you need a hotel there are several in the area. As we get closer to the date (still months away), these things will get worked out

I am getting very excited, this might really happen for me! My husband does not seem to mind if I go to Rochester without him. Now I just need to see if my mother in law will be around to watch the kids while he is at work.

Because you actually do have friends on this site, but you tend to send them away whenever your feelings get hurt. But I would certainly not want someone here that does not actually want to come.

My apologies to all but, plans do not always come to fruition regardless of how hard we try. It seems I will not be able to take the time off for this event, and must unfortunately cancel the Rochester Get Together. Luckily we are still three months out which hopefully means little if anything other than Hope was invested in this event.

I am sorry for any dissapointment.

That should work for me. If my plan to leave the kids at my sister-in-law's works out. but you have to do what is best for you, Tec.

edited to say: any weekend would be ok with me. whatever works for the majority.

I think you assume I care more than I really do.

No one on here really hurts my feelings. The thing is, I post here for a bit, then someone does something that I don't like (like delete a thread I make because it doesnt properly encourage discussion or something like that) and I think "why do I come to a site run like this when I can go lots of places I can just say what I want and not have to worry about it...." so I dont bother to post that much.

There are a lot of people here I COULD be friends with if I had that much contact with them, but I simply dont really talk to many people here, cos the sites is so heavily moderated I dont come here a lot. I dont have friends here cos I dont talk to anyone here that often, thats all.
