Happy Father's Day - 2005
Happy Father's Day to all the dad's out there... Hope your day is filled with fishing and golfing and barbequing and all that other good dad stuff.
Dad's are probably very underrated in the grand scheme of parenting (Mom's seem to get all the credit) but you dad's are very important too... and we appreciate ya... :icare: (Oh and to all the mom's out there serving double duty as a mom and a dad by chance or by choice... Enjoy today too) |
Thanks Mal... being taken on a picnic this afternoon by my wife and kids.

Here here!
Happy Fathers Day to all of you dads who take the time to support and care for and comfort your kids. To all of you who play catch with your sons in the back yard and tea party with your daughters. To all of you who play catch with your daughters and tea party with your sons. To all of you who leave work early to go to a concert of third graders playing plastic flutes badly, who go to a baseball game after a ten hour day instead of stopping by a bar on the way home. To all of you who read the bedtime stories, and who stay up all night when the little ones have a fever. To all of you who stay up late the first time your daughter goes out on a date by herself, and every time afterwards. To all of you whose ex-wives keep your kids from you, but never miss a child support payment. To all of you who call your adult children once a week just to say Hi. And especially to all of you fathers who accept it when your kids are different and support and love them anyway, thank you and have a good, happy Father's day. |
make sure to call your dad's today. i just got off the phone with mine. he'll love you more for it and you will love him more as well.

Thank you guys, sometimes being a full time single dad I really wonder if the sacrifices i make are enough. It's when I read stuff like Mal's and Gilda's posts that i remember it's all the dumb little stuff i do that makes the difference.
On a side note my 11 y.o. dughter saved up her money to take me out to breakfast this morning, she totally made my day! |
Keepin' it low key here. At the moment, my wife and boy are both napping. Yesterday, we went to a local Irish festival (my wife is 0.25 Irish, me not at all), checked out the crafts, etc. Went back at night with our handstamps to catch Black 47, who rocked live. The best part was watching my boy (33 months) dancing with a 2 year old girl, bouncing to the music.

I got flowers for Father's Day.
I gotta go out and plant them now. |
/me did a reverse thing today...took my nephew to a father's day golf tournament (i don't have any children.) we had a great time after it warmed up but, alas, golf is a funny game...

I give my dad every bit of credit for teaching me, supporting me, and loving me. he's the one who deserves all the credit. :)
i bought a cool picture frame and made my daddy a cool picture collage of pictures of him and i. oh... and what's he doing for father's day? fixing MY car. haha. he's awesome. |
I called my dad. Last week I bought him a nifty gift for Father's Day--it's a clock and weather station combined. He's never very enthusiastic about gifts but I'm sure he'll find this one useful, which is important.
My dad is my rock and he knows it. |
My 2 younger sons took me to MacDonalds (:() and the movie Madagascar. Great flic and I enjoyed their company for the last day and a half - just dropped them off at their mothers. Good time had by all.

|
Thanks you guy's it was a great day for me
|
Thanks Mal, Gilda and everyone.
Played with my daughter on her new swingset and then took my day golfing. I even "let" him win ;) It's good to be the dad. |
I also had an enjoyable Fathers Day. I fell asleep on the couch watching the US Open after a meal of burgers. I called my Dad and wished him a HFD as well. That was about the extent of it...
But I did have an awkward moment here at the school where I teach. On Friday I decided, upon the request of a few students, to spend some time making Fathers Day cards so each of the students could take it home to them. But for a brief moment I felt that slight awkward feeling that maybe there were students in my class who did not have a father present, or at all, or had stepfathers, or fathers they only see on the weekends, and I felt that I should have said something, or provided a way out for those students who didn't feel that they could or should write a card to their fathers expressing their gratitude and love for them. And then I was thinking, maybe some of the students will just do a card because they want to fit in, they don't want to admit that they dont' have a father or father figure in their lives. I have to admit that it made me sad, but it also made me so grateful that I had a strong, supportive dad all my life. I am extremely blessed to have come from a two parent family, and to have had a father who was there for me and continues to be even now. So, thanks Dad. |
I bought my dad a tree. And happy belated fathers day to you all.

This is to BBtB...
I just wanted to wish BBtB a happy late father's day. He just became a new daddy on July 6, 2005.
From the mother of his child. :icare:  |
