Another personality test [Via the BBC]
While scanning the web during my daily round, I found a personality test on the BBC site, http://www.bbc.co.uk/science/humanbo...ke/index.shtml
It was actually a pretty good one, compared to the typical ones found on blogs and quiz sites... I didn't know though, what to do put down when it asked what education level I had [had GSCE, degree, and another option] [Don't worry tin-foil hatters: it only asks for what country you grew up in until age 10; your education lvl; age; and sex.] I ended up as the personality type - leader: http://www.bbc.co.uk/science/humanbo...ty_type=leader Feel free to share your results and discuss [PS - the 'another' reference was from that there's been already a few discussions about personalities on the forums in the past, though the last one was from 2004.] |
I got Big Thinker.. which I guess is right.

Your answers suggest you are an Idealist The four aspects that make up this personality type are:Spontaneous, Ideas, Hearts, Introvert Summary of Idealists Make sense of the world using inner values I make no sense of the world at all Focus on personal growth and the growth of others Think of themselves as bright, forgiving and curious May sometimes appear stubborn More about Idealists Idealists put time and energy into developing personal values that they use as a guide through life. They may seek fulfilment by helping others improve themselves and often want to make the world a better place. Idealists only share their inner values with people they respect. Sort of true. I do enjoy helping others in a creative sense. But, I share my values with whomever cares to listen. Idealists are the most likely group to say they are vegetarian, according to a UK survey. I don't THINK so Idealists enjoy discussions about a wide range of topics, particularly those that deal with the future. They are typically easy-going and flexible, but if their values are challenged they may refuse to compromise. In situations where they can’t use their talents or are unappreciated, Idealists may have trouble expressing themselves and withdraw. Under extreme stress, Idealists may become very critical of others, or lose confidence in their own ability to cope. This is very true. Self-doubt can be a way of life. Recognition for their work is important to Idealists; however, they are also good at spotting false praise. Idealist Careers Idealists are often drawn to jobs where they can help people reach their potential. They are also attracted to careers that allow artistic creativity. This is right on. I love teaching and anything I can do creatively, writing, photography, a good crock of chili... Ok, Not too bad. |

Your answers suggest you are a Strategist The four aspects that make up this personality type are: Summary of Strategists Quiet, easy-going and intellectually curious Use logical, objective thinking to find original solutions to problems Think of themselves as bright, logical and individualistic May be impractical, forgetting practical issues, such as paying bills or doing the shopping It's so sad that such important aspects of my personality can be figured out in 20 simple questions. :D |
I got Supervisor... hmm. I guess that's somewhat true. I didn't really look at all the other options, but I'm usually pegged as a leader. This is obviously the first test I've taken with more nuanced takes on that category of personality.

Your answers suggest you are a Counsellor
The four aspects that make up this personality type are: Planners, Ideas, Hearts and Introvert Summary of Counsellors * Search for meaning in their life and develop powerful insights * Are dedicated to helping others reach their potential * Think of themselves as gentle, peaceable and cautious * Others may find it difficult to get to know them More about Counsellors Counsellors have a natural understanding of human relationships and the complexities of life, which they use to help others. They search for meaning in everything and develop complex insights. Counsellors are least likely to describe themselves as atheists, according to a UK survey. Counsellors feel most relaxed and creative when their surroundings are organised. They are deeply private people who only share their insights with trusted friends; however, they will defend their values if challenged. In situations where they can't use their talents or are unappreciated, Counsellors may withdraw from the people around them or become resentful. Under extreme stress, Counsellors may feel overwhelmed and be driven to organise small parts of their lives such as their kitchen cabinets or their record collection. Counsellors typically prefer a few close relationships to a wide circle of friends. Sounds about right. |
This is pretty close to my personality. I disagree with the Realists may complain loudly that events have taken a turn for the worse and predict negative outcomes line. That isn't me.
****************************************************************** Your answers suggest you are a Realist The four aspects that make up this personality type are: Planner, Facts, Heads, Introvert Summary of Realists Loyal and steady workers who meet deadlines Believe in established rules and respect facts Think of themselves as mature, stable and conscientious May appear too logical or tough-minded and forget their impact on other people More about Realists Realists are loyal to the people around them and work hard to keep their promises. I got strategist. It's pretty true.
|
Supervisor - Hmm. Different. I've not taken this particular kind of test before. Many of them peg me as an extrovert but not that many mark me as a someone who goes by the facts and is a perfectionist.
|
Peacemaker
|
I am a Supervisor. Oh, yeah, they big time nailed that one on the head. I don't think I've seen a personality test that has rung more true.
|
Peacemaker for me... pretty on the mark for most of it, no doubt comes out of growing up in a home where my parents fought very heatedly, and often (and I am an only child).
My only problem with tests like this is that every single "type" is some glorious, positive title. Trying to make people feel better than they are?... (so much for being a peacemaker!) |
I'm an Idealist. Apparently a frustrated one. No surprise there.
|
I got Supervisor... for me the test was very limited in it's response range. I had difficulty picking a particular response as I seem to blend between all the options presented.
Maybe I'm not defined in myself yet!, though really I think when I read through the options provided, I can apply each of the responses to different situations more so than a standard one response across the board type of way. |
Ha Ha! I, apparently, am a mastermind
Quote:
I mean, I don't enjoy dominating the conversation, I frequently ignore the phone and I like to stick with the people I know....The test called me an Introvert. Well, damn, they hit that nail right on the head. |
hmm I seem to be the only "Performer" in the group thus far.
|
Peacemaker like my Abaya :). Funny, since we are quite different in some aspects.

Big thinker here... I dunno though, I think this test puts too much stock into how I do my grocery shopping.

SECTION 1: Your answers suggest you are Spontaneous, not a Planner.
You are flexible and take life as it comes. Section 2: Your answers suggest you are an Ideas, not a Facts person. You focus on the big picture rather than on details. I'm a Strategist
Summary of Strategists * Quiet, easy-going and intellectually curious * Use logical, objective thinking to find original solutions to problems * Think of themselves as bright, logical and individualistic * May be impractical, forgetting practical issues, such as paying bills or doing the shopping Bills? What are Bills? There are a couple of quite interesting tests on that side. anyone tried the Spot The Fake Smile Test? I had 19 right anweres there, quite surprisingly. |
It looks like I'm the only nurturer. You can all come to me with your problems.
Edit: Now that I think about it, my personality type goes pretty well with my avatar and title. |
i'm a peacemaker. nothing new there. very spot on. i don't normally learn anything from taking these personality tests, because they usually tell me stuff i already know about myself, but i did learn something new this time.
|
Before I even complete this test, I can tell I wont like what it has to say because I feel like I am equal parts of all of these options. For some of the questions, I could answer for all 4 options. It just depends on what the context is.
It says I'm a Resolver, like mal. Not incorrect, but not really accurate either. |
Another Resolver here. I rarely grocery shop so my answers to those questions skewed the results. Me "spontaneous?" Rarely.
|
I have realist.... comes really close.
|
I'm also a Strategist. I guess I'm in good company.
While not entirely true, this is probably more accurate than anything on quizilla, or whatever those other quiz sites are. Quote:
|
Peacemaker. Funny, I like to have things peaceful, but I dont fit the rest of the description at all except that I value independence. I hate hippies too.
|
I wonder what kind of pattern my results would make if I took this once a day and answered the questions as quickly as possible (going on my gut insticts for the day). I bet I'd get at least 3 different results (maybe more) and discern some kind of pattern. Anyone care to join me in this experiment?
|
It says I'm a nurturer. I'm not so sure about that, since I generally can't be bothered to interact with people long enough to take care of them.
I'm really kind of complex and contradictory though, I'd challenge any personality test to peg me. I noticed while I was taking the test that my answers seemed those of an entirely different person depending on the type of situation. Other parts of the description did seem to fit though, although I don't know about that part about the job where the same thing happens every day...that would bore me silly. I'm going to try taking it again in the morning, just for fun. We'll see if I get the same result. |
I'm a strategist, which is weird because I suck at chess.

Looks like I'm the only Provider so far:
Summary of Providers * Warm, caring people who value order and tradition * Loyal workers who follow through on commitments * Think of themselves as sympathetic, easy-going and steady * They don't feel comfortable with radical change More about Providers Providers like to make plans with other people and then to work with them towards achievable goals in a fun, harmonious environment. They support people that are important to them and respect their individuality. Provider is the most common personality type for women in the UK, according to a nationwide survey. Providers have traditional values and support order and responsible behaviour. They enjoy social events, particularly family celebrations, and often help plan them. Providers work hard to avoid conflict, but they will state their beliefs when they think it is suitable. In situations where they can't use their talents or are unappreciated, Providers may doubt their abilities and focus solely on the needs of other people. Under extreme stress, Providers may withdraw completely and become excessively critical of themselves and others. Providers prefer warm, face-to-face communication and often express their ideas by telling stories from their own lives. |

I don't think I do enough shopping, and certainly not at the same shop (so aisle-layout is not something I lay awake about).
Still, I'm hovering between Innovator and Idealist really. The test itself gave me Idealist, because I'm not extravert enough... Oh well, it's a good test, not the best I've seen. |
I got Peacemaker. Most of it sounded about right, I was a bit surprised by this though.

Supple Cow's Useless Experiment
Pre-experiment: Supervisor (pretty close)
Day 01, 4/14: Strategist (:hmm: how did that happen?) |

Under extreme stress, Realists may complain loudly that events have taken a turn for the worse and predict negative outcomes. eh ... yeah. especially the other people doing the job properly thing. definitely a trait I've had since childhood. don't work well under pressure usually either. Realists typically only share their opinions or personal experiences with trusted friends. definitely. I do not wear my heart on my sleeve. yuck. not a bad test, but some of the Q's were definitely hard to choose the 'best' answer. |

I guess i'm a Nurturer.... and it's pretty dead on actually.

Wow, this seems spot on...I am a Counsellor (funny as it's the same as that other test, where I came out INFJ -which is also called the counsellor)
Summary of Counsellors - Search for meaning in their life and develop powerful insights - Are dedicated to helping others reach their potential - Think of themselves as gentle, peaceable and cautious - Others may find it difficult to get to know them this kind of got me though...Counsellors are least likely to describe themselves as atheists, according to a UK survey. - ? that's definitely not me! apparently they get this test 89% of the times right. Supple Cow's Useless Experiment
Day 2 - Mastermind. This is getting very boring and I'm starting to memorize the questions. That was truly a useless (and short) experiment. At least I found out my true nature as a Superstrategizing Mastermind ;). If that were all so true, I think the title I would really deserve would be Puppetmaster.

Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall inherit the earth ;)
"Your answers suggest you are a Peacemaker Summary of Peacemakers Value personal freedom Particularly sensitive to the feelings of others Think of themselves as steady, gentle and sympathetic Others may mistake their quiet nature for weakness More about Peacemakers Peacemakers focus on the present and enjoy helping others in practical ways. They are sensitive to the world around them and take quiet joy from people and nature, particularly animals. Peacemakers value close relationships, but it may take time for others to get to know them. Peacemakers are the most likely group to say they dislike reading history books, according to a UK survey. Peacemakers live by a set of personal values, which they work hard to reflect in their everyday life. They would rather support an activity than organise it. When they do find themselves in leadership positions, they observe quietly and lead by example. In situations where they can't use their talents or are unappreciated, Peacemakers may withdraw and become self-critical. Under extreme stress, Peacemakers may become even more critical of themselves and others and make harsh judgements about minor issues. Peacemakers tend to show someone how much they care about them by helping them in a practical way rather than putting their feelings into words." |
