How much does it take to get you drunk???
Let's measure it in 12 oz. cans of beer. Drunk meaning you have a noticeable hangover the next morning. So far for me, a 12 pack.
Well I feel pretty drunk after about 6, but I can get pretty drunk and not have a hang over.
I'm usually getting a good buzz after 5-6 but I ususally have to break 8 to feel it the next morning.
It depends on what kind of beer it is. 3 barleywines or Imperial IPAs will do me in. If you're talking macroswill, probably just over a dozen
Lightweight here. But I do like do drink Yuenling through a from a garden hose. :D
Far too much.
I drink a lot. Not such a big deal as it has always been part of my culture and social scene. I don't drink as much as I used to, now that I live in Australia and not 25 metres from my local pub and sharing a house with my life-long friends. But I still put away a bottle of red and a few beers most nights. When I do go out drinking, it's usually about 6-9 Heinekens followed by vodkas later in the evening. Of course, this can change if I drink on an empty stomach. Mr Mephisto |
I can get drunk off of about 4 or 5 beers, so I picked less than 5, but I don't often get hangovers, cause I eat a lot of peanut butter and drink a lot of water before going to sleep.
depends on what you define as drunk. I feel pretty good between beer 5-10, but I don't get really drunk until around 15. That's a lot of liquid to drink, so if I'm drinking to get really trashed, I'll only have like 5-10 beer, and have shots and some mixed drinks mixed in there too. I guess I'm just a lightwieght ;)
about 8-10 drinks and i'll feel it the next day usually. Sometimes more than that, rarely less, and cheap beer seems to make me feel worse the next day then something quality (probably because I slam it faster so I don't have to taste it).
I don't usually drink, and can't stand beer.
After 6-8 shots I start swearing a lot and maybe the ground starts moving funny. Never been hung over. |
I hate beer and wine, I only drink hard liquor. It takes me about 4-5 shots to feel a little drunk and to where I'd feel it some the next day. I had about 9 shots on New Years though, and only had a mild hangover the next day, and I was pretty drunk. It would be hard to vote in Utah anyway, because our beer is weak, only 3.5 percent alcohol compared to 6-7 (correct?) for regular beer.
I clicked 10, but that can vary... If I mix bottle/can beer with tap, then I definately feel it the next day. Same if you throw in a few shots. If I simply drink 10 beers in about 3 hours, nothing but a very good feeling. The other day, my wife and I went with our neighbors to hooters, and in the span of about an hour and a half, I had 5 beers, and ate, and was starting to feel really good, 2 more beers, and I would have been teetering on drunk.
Last semester it was usually around 2 24 packs per week + $100/week at bars. After realizing I gained 30lbs. I haven't drank yet this semester and will only drink hard liquor on weekends and no drinking during the week. My beer diet didn't work :P
If I'm drinking only beer, it takes over 12 for me to feel it the next day.
Shots, on the other hand, don't agree with me very well the next day. I would feel much worse the next day after drinking liquor than beer; the level of alcohol being equal. Maybe it's because beer has more water or something. |
First, really depends on how frequently I've been drinking in the recent past. I can get up to about 10 drinks normally without having any hangover at all in the morning though. That's with the 4-10 glasses of water I have before going to bed. If I didn't have that water, I'd get hung over after about 6 drinks. I can get a good buzz/tipsy after about 4 (in rapid succession), and just past tipsy/still pretty in control drunk 'till about 6 or 7. After that it's not really worth it normally.
I weigh 230 lbs, and if I drink 4 beers quickly I should definitely not be driving.
have not drank in a while and two beers gets me feeling pretty good and am out by 5... its sad but cheap as hell
I know I'm usually drunk after 7, but I've knocked myself out and not felt it the next day ;)
Personally, I hate the taste of beer. How would we rate it in glasses of wine?
I went with 10. Drinking is becoming an expensive habit for me.
i generally get the most buzzed after beer 3 and it kind of stays at that level up until 8+ when a buzz starts going up again depending on the beer, if my stomache is feeling expandable i can do 18 19 beers in a night and be fine, although usually its around 8 or 9 because none of us want to spend 12$ each for beer
for commercial beer 9 icehouse or henry weinhard is a perferct place to be for a couple hours |
I used to drink to get drunk. Between the ages of maybe 15 and 18 I would go to parties every night and drink dangerous amounts of alcohol. Near the end, it would take well over a dozen beers to feel buzzed. A friend died in a car accedent coming home from one of the parties I attended. I stopped and I've been sober ever since.
3 or 4 years ago, my answer would have beeen 12+, but now I'd guess it's closer to 4 to get buzzed and maybe 7 or 8 to get drunk. It'll never happen, so it's just speculation. Don't drink and drive. |
that sucks will
ive had friends go over a cliff while drunk driving they dropped onto ledges and flipped the car a jetta 3 or 4 times. luckily they all survived and everyone learned a valuble lesson. as for beer i forgot to mention that i cant stomache enough beer to get drunk anymore |
It's my Birthday and I have had 12 so far. I don't think I am drunk, but I am sitting here wearing only socks trying to get frisky with my wife.
Pythos: Good luck with your wife! And yes, socks notwithstanding, you are drunk  .
This poll is a bit flawed in that it is only asking about beer. I personally don't like beer or wine (except for cooking) and therefore only drink liquor. I'm too afraid to measure the amount of vodka I drink in a week, so I won't. Let's just say that I can hold more booze than I'd like. I think I'll be cutting back as of Monday. Maybe if I'd drunk more in high-school and college, I wouldn't be making this a New Years resolution now at 33! Ali P.S. I mean't by the last sentance that maybe the experimentation in my youth might have taught me a lesson, not that it's cool for kids in high-school to be drinking. |
Hrm. Well, I think I had over 20 the last time I had a hangover, but that was such a hodgepodge of beer, ale, hard liquor, and soda that I'm surprised I woke up from it. I haven't gotten a hangover from straight beer yet.
I don't generally get hung over when just drinking beer. I don't know why that is, but its the case. I tend to get hung over when having lots hard alcohol or chanpagne. 8 beers will generally give me a good buzz, but it really depends on over what period of time we're talking about. I can go out on the town for 5 hours and have 8 beers and not be buzzed at all by the time its time to leave.
As a professional...
Only about 10. I'm really small. |
i would say that about 10-12 for me to feel a little off in the morning but still able to function properly. for me to have a hangover in the morning that i know about i have to drink a lot more than that, and i usually end up mixing beer and bourbon.
then again it could take more or less, depending on how much i have eaten and what exactly i am drinking. |

it doesn't take me much. i voted for 6, it's around there somewhere. i'm a cheap screw :)
back in the day it would be 12+, lucky now i can feel hammered after about 6-8 beers. alot has to do with mood, very happy, drunk quicker, average mood, need more booze. don't get drunk very often anymore, maybe once every 4 months at best. about 5 years ago i was drunk 3-4 times a week. lucky i came to repect the bottle and now only have a drink or two for taste, not to get bombed out of tree. that and i'm too old. hangovers hurt now!
I dont drink beer for I think it is one of the most disgusting things ever.
Malt Liquors are ok, but hard liquor will always be my choice. So your poll is a little lopsided. |
I don't know about beers, but it takes about 75% of a 40 oz bottle of crown royal, but i've recently given up drinking
I clicked Seven.
I'm not real sure what it'd take right now, as I haven't been able to drink in 11 months. Normally, though, I'm a pretty tough girl, but when I was home in September for a few days I found I had lost a lot of my tolerance. |
about three will get me buzzed pretty good...
*shrug* mebbe cause I hardly ever drink and am in pretty good physical shape.. |
seasoned veteran here.......like Mr Mephisto....usually a bottle of wine and quite a few wobbly pops a night.
if i wanna get drunk......i'll drink the hard stuff.........but i hate that shit anyways so..... ......i'll say 12 or more with the wine |
Well, last night I had 9 beers and three shots (two vodka, one tequila), and I feel fine today. I wasn't even really that drunk. I was feeling pretty good, but nowhere close to being hammered.
i don't know
i don't drink much beer liquor's [in] my cup of tea |
According to how "drunk" was termed, I had to say 12+ beers, because I don't get hangovers, but I do actually become drunk well before 12 ussually around 5-6 is when I start being more than buzzed and start becoming drunk.
