I like Sophia. It's a graceful name she can grow into. Sophie while she's still a kitten, Sophia when she's mature.

That was great!
One thing to remember, most names are eventually going to get shortened, how would you shorten Octavia???

p.s. I think someone ^ spends too much time on the TB. Me too!

When I get a cat, it'll be a random, ex-stray bastardised tabby of no particular origin, and I will call it Average The Cat.
But that cat should be called Maurice. Awexome.

That is DEFINATELY Julia...

I have three cats, and strangely, the names for two of them came immediately... the third was my niece's idea... I was gonna call her T.C. but my neice figured I HAD to call her Miss T.C. cause she was a girl kitty.... changed that to "Mystici"... the other ones are "Trixie" and "Elam"

Here are a few cat names I've come with over the years:

Chaos ("Kay" for short)
Queenie
Grace
Petite
Xena (if she's a warrior princess)

You want to stay away from names that have a long "o" sound, like Sophia or Joan. Among cats, the long "o" is a warning or threat signal. If you give her such a name, it could confuse her, although she'd probably figure it out eventually.

Doesn't make any difference.

She won't come when you call her.

But my cat would call her "Lunch."

It has been a fun week reading everyone's posts while getting to know our new addition. And I am happy to say that we no longer will have to go around calling her Baby Kitty until a new name is chosen. There have been some great suggestions and some strange ones also. Below you will find a summary of the names you suggested to us. It has been a blast, and we loved all of the ideas you had. Oh, and if you scroll way down, you will see our new kitty and her new name............

These particular names were seriously considered while dining on Italian pot-roast at the local Italian eatery….

Sophie Moon….we may use this on occasion
Shifty McFrontpocket….I love this. Classic. Someday I will have a cat with this name.
Mrs. Mary Sparkles…..This is such a name that I would come up with.
Muffincakes…..All of my cats are muffins. We use Mighty Muffin. But Muffincakes may come into use also.
Arwen….This is a fabulous name.
Lunch (love your cat, Tarl Cabot)….This is wonderful. So typical of a nickname I would call my cats.
Spazz….Excellent…

These names were a little too catty……

Kitty kitty…..here, kitty kitty…..
Kittah…..sounds a little snobby
Sapphire…..too swanky
Fuzz….too common
Claws….too rugged
Claus….too stuffy
Katie….niece’s name
Amber….then I would have to have a Rob, also
Pebbles….then I would have to have a Bam Bam, also
Catgirl….too cartoony
Cat….a little dull
Kittan….too foreign sounding
Freja….just not into this for a cat
Aphrodite….too many syllables
Athena…the richest little girl in the world
Juno….makes me think of Uno
Maya….too vague
Tammi….Tammi and the professor?
Natasha….too Bullwinkle
Boots…loved the book as a child, but no
Mittens….Three little kittens lost their mittens….
Grace….hated that show
Tippi….Alfred Hitchcock’s The Birds….scared the hell out of me
Tavey….makes me think of Riki Tiki Tavi
Julia….the movie was too dark
Chaos ("Kay" for short)….makes me think of college
Queenie….this is a dog’s name
Petite…..too French
Xena (if she's a warrior princess)….she’s not

I’ve had cats with these names, so these are out…….

Noelle…and she was a Christmas kitty
Bugsy…..was a nickname for previous cat
Bugs…nickname for the same previous cat
Ears McGee….McGhee was the previous cat’s name

My other cats would laugh at her if I named her one of these…..

Sparky….too doggy
Kinky….just, too
Death Immutable….my brother would love this
Cat-thulhu…..my sister-in-law would love this
Catman….she’s a lady
George….I’ve had Georges in the family, no
Stupy….don’t won’t to give her a complex
Eric….I’ve known an Eric, so no
Dog….yeah, right
Spot…..too doggy, also
Clone…. people would ask too many questions
Stumpy….she’s not that short
Lefty….don’t know yet
Domo-kat…..my nephew would love this
Patches….now that song is in my head
Rocket……now THAT song is in my head
Sprite…..I prefer 7-up
Frank…..My uncle with this name crushed the azaleas, so no
Hard8s…not sure about this one
Maurice…..now THAT song is in my head
Bup-Bup….people would think I stutter
Brian….great, now that movie is in my head
Dave…..now, THAT movie is in my head
Bob….now, THAT movie is in my head

And here is Sophia...............

Eblis O'Shaunnessy is not a bad idea, but perhaps the wrong name for her personality.

Trial and error. I took about 50 shots before I got one that I was happy with. Digital cameras are wonderful in that you can shoot all night long if you want to. But the blur factor with moving objects and you don't want to use a flash.....yikes.

Who in the world suggested that one ^ it wasn't me! I would never name a cat that either, unless it had two sets of 4 dots on it.
