Send a Care Package to ... Any Soldier

http://www.treatanysoldier.com/CarePackages.cfm
62 US$ to send a care package to "any soldier".

Send a post card or letter to a random US soldier in Iraq. 40,000 or so to choose from.

How this works:

We provide soldier contacts on the Where to Send page. Read through the names and select the ones you wish to support. They list what they need and want, we even have a search capability so you can easily identify what units need.

The soldiers are volunteers for this effort, they see the "ATTN: Any Soldier" line and put your letters and packages into the hands of soldiers who don't get much or any mail.

We also have What to Send and How to Send pages to help you properly send letters and packages, and a FAQ page, please read these. This effort is 110% voluntary. You send your support, and maybe some stuff, directly to whatever unit or units you want, you don't send us anything. PLEASE read the entire web site before you send anything, we want you to be informed and comfortable with this effort as many people are.
I thought it was a very nice idea.

edit: oops, this really should go in General Discussion, not politics. If a mod sees this, and is feeling managamous, can they boot it over?

I really like the responses from the service people about what they need and what they do with the things they receive. Finally a use for beanie babies and expired medication! I think I'll send a package for the post-christmas doldrums.

thanks for posting this. I hope that people who do not necessarily support this administration's handling of the Iraq war (like myself) will still consider supporting our soldiers there.

There are lots and lots of us who don't like the war, but love our troops.

I'm way ahead of you Yakk :) I've already begun to put together a care package of my own.

Write a letter. They are cheap money wise, and the program will get it to a soldier who hasn't been getting much correspondance.
