I've seen these pictures for years -- and don't ever recall this making the news anywhere -- Just wonder what airport this happened in... It almost looks like Continental terminal at Newark Airport, or Houston -- can't quite tell...

Is that for real? Or did someone make up a real fun story to go with the pictures? Ahhhh...who cares? Either way it's funnier than hell. Still...it'd be nice to know if it were real or not.

True or not, that's quite fabulous.

Heh - It was Newark
http://www.cargolaw.com/2000nightmare_n.w._brakes.html Continental Airlines Flight Now Arriving At Gate 114 A Continental Airlines MD-80 wound up in the terminal building at Newark International Airport June 14 2000 . Two mechanics inadvertently started one of the jet's engines during maintenance. Said airline spokeswoman Sarah Anthony at the time, "One of the engines fired up and the aircraft surged forward, hitting the terminal.... The aircraft was lodged in the building." The event is reminiscent of an opening sequence from the classic comedy movie "Airplane!" http://www.jacdec.de/j_report-00n16884.htm During engine test runs at gate 114, the empty aircraft ran foreward and collided with the passenger terminal C. At the time of the accident, the aircraft was prepared for the 1st flight of the day and 6 cleaners were abord the plane, who received minor injuries in the collision. Presumably, the maintenance workers forgot to set the aircraft´s parking brake (incl. wheel chocks ). |
I'd say of course the text isn't real. Who says "worry wart"?
