Don't know quite where to put this...

So general discussion can't be a miss. My query to you, those who have had anniversaries anyways, is, do you do that whole paper-wood-silver-gold-diamond (for certain anniversaries)* thing to celebrate being with the same person for however many corresponding years? I personally think it's stupid, but I'd like to know if there's a general expectation of it or not in contemporary society.

*What I'm talking about is the "custom" I guess one could call it, of giving gifts or having a theme of a certain type of material for corresponding anniversary years (just for a likely inaccurate example, gold at 20th anniversary)

Oh, you mean like silver for 25th anniversary, gold for 50th, diamond for 75th. I had no idea what you were talking about for a second. No, I've never done or heard of wood, paper, etc.

Paper is the first, I honestly don't know the rest because, as I mentioned, I think it's a dumb idea to restrict yourself like that. I'll edit my first post to clarfiy though, thanks.

My answer is sort of. I try to find something that goes with it, but if not oh well. I did the Silver bit for 25 and I already know what I am getting for 50. How is that for optimism?

Well if she tries to get away, you can just drug her 'till the 50th.
