Cooked Thai food for the first time last night

I was shocked that it actually came out awesome. The taste was damn near that of which I expect at a good Thai restaurant.

I made chicken panang and some soup whose name I just don't know. If there are any Thai people out there who can hook me up with a name for the soup, here are the ingrediants in it:
Boiled pork and fish balls, green onion, red chili paste, crushed red peppers, chunky peanut butter, lime juice, sugar, black pepper, rice noodles, water from the pot that boiled the pork and fish balls, and bean sprouts.

Here are a couple pics

So much of the recipe is "some of this" and "some of that"

It's kind of a taste as you go and adjust sort of thing.

sounds like a variant of tom yum soup

Sounds good whatever it is.

It's too bad there aren't any good Thai restaurants around the neighborhood. I've only had a few dishes and they were all quite tasty.

Was it difficult to make? It sure looks tasty, but I'm not sure I could pull something like that off. I mean, I can bake and I'm no slouch in the kitchen, but that looks decidedly difficult to put together.

i am not sure about his recipes, but I find most thai food to be just throw in what you like and stick to a few flavours. I make an imitation Pad Thai that I absolutely adore, but rather than throwing in beef, I use deer since it is handy. I generally just grab most of my ingredients from oriental markets in town and it makes some definate tastiness! :)

There are a fair amount of ingrediants, but it isn't difficult to prepare by any means. The soup was basically just boiling things and mixing it with fresh ingrediants.

Nice, I took cooking class for a few weeks now and it's going great but I need to get more variety

One of my best friends is thai. Every couple weeks she'll cook me thai food. And damn is she good.
