BB employees please respond if you know...

Are Ipods still Devo Items? EG: my Ipod's battery charge lasts only a few days, so when it goes dead I want to know if when I return it (i have a 3 yr warranty) that I will get a new one and they wont try and fix my old one. Also if it IS devo, do I get equivalent technology or price? I paid 399 for a 15gb, so would I get the 40gb? or another 15 which is only 299 now.

Thanks for the help

AFAIK batteries are considered consumables and therefor not covered under warranty. But it's been many years since I was a blue shirt.

The battery isn't considered a "consumable" in an iPod, because removal and replacement of the battery would void the warranty. The case is completely sealed for warranty voiding purposes, so they would fix it or replace it.

I don't know if the iPod is DEVO, as I haven't worn a blue shirt (or black shirt, actually, as I was a technician) in a while - but I will attempt to find out... I still have some folks I talk to when I want to know DEVO status. ;D

I WOULD assume, however, that because of the price versus hourly labor cost of repair that it would indeed be DEVO - after all, they won't repair most cell phones and PDA's, which are all in the same department and have similar pricing.

Devo? I know we aren't talking about the band, so could someone define that word for me? (I also have an iPod from BB with the extended warranty, so I'm not just asking to be funny. But I do have Devo on my iPod...)

I was thinking the exact same thing.

Devo means the product cannot be repaired by best buy and therefore either must be returned to the mfg or destroyed (I think, its been awhile since ive worn the black techie shirt)

Working there, just got off 2 hours ago in fact. IPod batteries are covered under both the PRP's and PSP's. In either case, however, they'll replace the IPod instead of trying to repair it.

I'm pretty sure this is the case, but please correct me if I'm wrong.

Apple will also replace batteries for a $99 charge (http://depot.info.apple.com/ipod/). Technically, they actually replace your iPod with a new or refurbished iPod of the same model.
