hardee's angus beef vs. BK's angus beef

I think im getting addicted to hardee's angus beef thickburgers but i have never had burger king's new angus beef burger. I was wondering what you people think is better...

brandon11983 08-30-2004 09:04 PM

I can't speak for the Hardee's burger, but I eat the Angus from BK somewhat frequently. It's really good, and the best burger in fast food in my opinion.

sadistikdreams 08-30-2004 09:16 PM

I haven't tried either, but I read the angus diet book...

Good satire. Can be found at www.angusdiet.com

b1naryb0r1s 08-30-2004 09:26 PM

I've tried both and I believe that Hardee's is the better pick of the two and it may be a little cheaper. Not to thread jack but Backyard Burgers has one heck of an Angus burger as well.

Manic_Skafe 08-30-2004 09:51 PM

Hardees > Burger King

Angus beef really isn't that special but Hardees definetly has the better burger - Hardees has less of that food slapped together feel thang BK and their food tastes that way too.

Great_White 08-30-2004 11:43 PM

Im not a fan of BK at all.

And for anyone on the west coast wondering. Hardees is Carls Junior.

I think it changes in Texas or Oklahoma. But Hardees has a much more impressive breakfast menu, although that may be true with all of the country fast food places.

KirStang 08-31-2004 12:13 AM

I Like the BK Angus burger, never had Hardee's Angus though :\

RESPECT THE ANGUS! :D

K-Wise 08-31-2004 12:34 AM

Are you fuckin kiddin me? Hardees still exists? I used to go there when I was a child. Back when California Raisins were all the rage....they were big at Hardees too. We used to get thier cinnamon raisin rolls..they were quite good. Then they closed down...I thought they closed down all together. I had no idea some places still have them. I also had no idea they went by Carls Junior on the west side. I've never eaten at a Carls Jr and I've only seen one of them in San Antonio I believe but I'm not certain. This is crazy. I've never had the one from Burger King but my parents tell me it's nasty. I think I'll try it one of these days.

Asta!!

Glory's Sun 08-31-2004 09:38 AM

I've had both...and Hardee's, Carl Jr's whatever you call it, has the better angus burger.

omega2K4 08-31-2004 09:41 AM

I don't like either. I prefer my burgers from Wendy's. Plus their great fries and frostys don't hurt either.

I only go to Hardee's/Carl's Jr. if I'm out early and I was some breakfast, they got good biscuits there.

emopwr 08-31-2004 09:53 AM

i had the BK angus burger and i wasnt too impressed.

imo backyard burger destroys them all!!!

THGL 08-31-2004 10:18 AM

I've had one of the burgers from Hardee's and it did kick much ass! I haven't had the BK version yet but I've heard it's not all that great.

Here's another vote for Backyard Burger! :)

mb99usa 08-31-2004 10:51 AM

I've only had the BK burger and thought it was pretty good. Most of the Hardee's in my area closed down. Was sad to see the one I worked at during high school shut down.

Redjake 08-31-2004 11:21 AM

our damn Hardee's shutdown in my hometown. pissed me off, I was enjoying getting fatter off those damn burgers.

BKs are terrible, at least the two times I've had one. the first time it was so-so (not as flavorful as Hardee's) but the second time it was just plain room-temperature. eating a huge burger that is room-temp is disgusting :)

kutulu 08-31-2004 11:33 AM

The BK Angus burger is a hell of a lot better than anything else at BK, but overall it's still BK and BK sucks.

I haven't had the Carl's Jr. Angus, but I'm a fan of Carl's Jr. The Six Dollar Western Bacon Cheeseburger kicks some serious ass and is probably the best burger you can get from a fast food chain.

When I want a really good fast burger, I go to the Chuckbox in Tempe. That place is the best. Not angus beef, but cooked over real charcoal (big chunks, not the stuff you get in a bag). They toast the bun for you and you top it yourself. Anyone who lives in Tempe should try that place.

Has anyone see the Carl's Jr. commercial where the girl sticks her fist in her mouth? Kind of odd for a burger commercial, don't you thing?
You can see it here:

Sargeman 08-31-2004 11:57 AM

I've had BKs angus and honestly I wasn't impressed. It was okay but nothing special.

All the hardee's in the TX panhandle closed down a couple of years ago, but I did like their Monster Burgers. I've never heard of backyard burgers, unless you mean grilling out in you backyard.

Another burger I like but can only get down in mid to south TX is the Jack in the Box Ultimate cheeseburger.

Whataburger makes some damn good burgers too.

maleficent 08-31-2004 12:16 PM

Burger from the grill - either in the yard, or the stovetop grill - cooked nice and rare - with blue cheese and some mushrooms and onions on a Kaiser roll - -until the fast food places figure out that burgers are better rare-- my foot won't set foot in their door...

K-Wise 08-31-2004 12:36 PM

Cosign on the Whataburger burgers. I don't think a better burger than the A1 Thick & Hearty Burger exists anywhere.

Asta!!

I grew up on Carls Jr. Western Bacon Cheeseburgers here in so Cal, and then got stationed in North Carolina where I went through serious Carl's Jr. withdrawals, back then Hardee's wasn't owned by Carl Karcher Inc or whatever. Hardees still had a similar burger menu to Carl's but no western. Then in 97 Carl Karcher Inc. bought Hardees and they became the same.

I haven't had the BK angus, so I don't have an opinion on it yet, but thought that I would throw in my .02 about Hardees.

K-Wise 08-31-2004 01:58 PM

^ Try the A1 Thick & Hearty burger if you see it. It comes wit grilled onions though so if ya don't like onions ask em to leave the shit out. Shit is very delicious. They bring em back like every 3 years n shit....mad withdrawls for those shits but if you buy a regular bacon cheezeburgah and keep a bottle a A1 Thick & Hearty at home...knaw mean it's good shit mang.

Asta!!

I think it has more to do with liability. The whole thing about poisoning someone if the meat isn't cooked all the way through..

I havn't had either, and don't think I ever will... on the occasion where I feel like getting a big burger, there's a hundred other places that would make a better burger =)

rocinante2003 08-31-2004 04:19 PM

I love Whataburger wednesday nights, buy one get one free. I am so hungry right now, and I have cheese salad for dinner. Almost being cruel to myself thinking about burgers.

Willy 08-31-2004 04:57 PM

Carls Junior is not Hardees. Why? Because CJ doesn't have a mushroom and swiss burger, which means that they are CRAP compared to Hardees. CRAP!

(Yes I grew up with Hardees and am now stuck in a place that only has CJ).

I haven't had the Hardees burger, but I was not impressed with the BK version at all. Rather have their regular burgers.

Redjake 08-31-2004 04:59 PM

I hate how Dr. Angus says "pleasure" in his first commerical. He says "pleesure" isntead of "pleasure." really annoying.

merkerguitars 08-31-2004 08:40 PM

I tried the BK one when it first came out....I fucking swear if I scrapped up some roadkill (skunk) off the road it would of tasted better......However I do love the hardee's burgers....way good bang for the buck.....I should try the BK again...who knows....could of improved..

Jeff 08-31-2004 09:58 PM

Hardee's.

No doubt about it. I've eaten both frequently. The thickburger is an amazing burger.

Hot tip for you: Go to the Hardee's (or Carl's Jr.) website, and find the comments sections. Leave them a comment about how much you love their burgers or whatever, and they'll send you a coupon for 2 free thickburgers.

Redjake 09-01-2004 04:38 AM

I just told hardee's how awesome their thick burgers are. /awaits the thick burger awesomeness

They used to but I don't think it was a hot seller around here.

Thanks for the hot tip Jeff.

If I'm not mistaken, Jack in the Box got in big trouble a few years ago out on the west coast when they sold contaminated meat to customers and some died. What it basically came down to was that had they cooked them well and not had a little bit of unthoroughly (is that even a word?) cooked meat, that would of killed the botulism.

Arby's Beef N' Cheddar!

K-Wise 09-01-2004 06:54 PM

T.O.K. needs to tell everyone who that chick in his avatar is.

Asta!!

09-01-2004 06:58 PM

I guess I like Hardee's better overall, but they have really cut their menu down. For me, I'll pass on flame broiled.

BoomTruck 09-01-2004 09:17 PM

I had a Hardees thickburger a few years ago.... I knew it was a mistake before I got out of the drive-through, and 3 hours later my digestive tract was staging a coup.

shakran 09-01-2004 09:21 PM

no one's mentioned Culvers yet?

Jeff 09-02-2004 05:38 PM

Culvers is good. The double deluxe can be great. A little on the greasy side. But still good.

shakran 09-02-2004 06:05 PM

Yeah I'll give you the greasy part, which is why I don't eat there very often. But that BBQ bacon cheddar they had for a month or so was the best fast food burger in the north.

The BEST quick burger I've ever had though was when I was working in Albuquerque. Place called Blakes sold green chile burgers. DAMN those things were good!

anleja 09-03-2004 02:44 PM

Is the motivational speaker in the BK commercial the same guy who plays the motivational speaker in "Requiem for a Dream"?

jordan_is_god 09-04-2004 09:23 PM

HARDEES OWNZ JOO..... bk saw how much ass hardee's was kickin and is trying to jump on the bandwagon.... only not as good... a good burger but a thickburger its not....i'll take number 8 super size it with a coke... 2/3 lb double bacon cheeseburger.... mmmmm mmmmmm...
