Online Dating Service Techniques
Ok, you guys...
Anyone have any good techniques for getting replies. I have a buddy that has an online ad on Yahoo, (I think) or maybe it's Match.com...I dunno...but that's not important. He keeps complaining that he sends out email to girls that he finds interresting or the in the pic looks attractive, and just does not get any replies. He is not even getting any "sorry you are not my type" emails. Just nothing. I really don't know what to tell him, as I am already married and have never done the online dating bit. So, how do you guys approach it? What techniques do you use?? Do you have any tips for my buddy? |
Does your "friend" have any of his pictures posted? If not, from my perspective your "friend" shouldn't expect replies because people want to know who they are talking to.
I hope my advice helps your "friend". |
hmmm, I am not sure if he has any pictures on line. I am assuming he does, and he is not bad looking. He is not GQ material but definitely above average. I DO know that he sends his picture in in the emails that he sends.
But my questions is there some techniques or pointers that would help him get replies to the emails that he sends out?? I was actually thinking that maybe he should start to concentrate on the girls that don't have any pictures in their ads. Since some of those girls with pictures are actually just bots... What do you think? |
Most replies you will get from online dating are tricks to get you in to porn sites. Would an attractive lady really need to use a website to find a man? I don't think so. Your best bet at picking up women is the old fashioned way, hit on them in person.

It's my impression that dating services create a lot of phony entries in their database to make people think that really attractive people are actually using their service. Call me cynical, but look at fark.com's personals for instance - all their featured profiles have pictures that are professionally shot, they almost look straight out of a stock photography portfolio.
I've heard of online dating services working out, but something tells me he's better off using one of the more personalized dating services that run locally that guarantee X amount of matches for X amount of dollars, not those $25 free-for-alls that you see online. |

And....for the original poster....I'm sorry I don't have any advice because I haven't tried it but I would say as long as he's honest he should do okay. A picture would help a lot though. |
I have had an ad on Match.com for a year. I met two women the first two months and they both had psychopathology and neither was my type. I talked to a few others on the phone that seemed promising, but schedules intervened and we never ended up meeting. I did meet a third woman, but I did not find her attractive.
I have answered 6 to 8 ads over the year, and I have never gotten ANY kind of reply. By the way, I am a real catch. At least the women at work think so, but I won't date anyone I run into at work. |
