I don't know.

I was a Sales Analyst for a pharmaceutical company up until May 1st. Then they "centralized" all analysis functions for the corporation. The new department has not really been formed yet and the new department heads aren't real big fans of mine (I disagreed with the marketing assessment on one of our products and made a case for eliminating an outside sales force. They didn't like that and since I was right that bugs them even more).

My current division doesn't want to lose me so they keep paying me to come in even though I really don't have an official job. Been working on various shit projects for the last 3 months.

Why is that sad? Do you want another job that's not available?
It shouldn't be "sad" just because it's the car sales business. Sure some people despise car salespeople, but if you're honest and work hard, there's no reason to feel sad.

After 30 years in the semiconductor industry, I retired in the summer of 2000, convinced I could make more money in the stock market than in salary. That lasted for almost 2 months! Then the bottom dropped out of the market and, while I call myself an "investor," there's not been a lot of cash flow for the past 3 years!

I have a nice garden so I usually answer that I'm a "Plant Manager." Most days I'm truly OutStanding In My Field.
