so many choices... whats your beer?
I stumbled upon this nice little page today(random google find) and it got me thinking, you all must have a favorate brew... so what is it? and what do you drink most often?
The best tasting beer I have had is Guiness, but its too filling and expensive to drink all the time... The beer I drink the most is Miller Genuine Draft its got a good taste and its inexpensive. |
Are we talking quality or quanitity?
Quality: Sam Adams Octoberfest Quantity: Michelob Golden Draft Light |

Negro Modelo -- always a winner. For cheap beer, I drink Miller.
|
Guinness
Killian's Red Lion Red<---Had when I was in NZ...those Kiwis can make some beer! Boddington XXXX<----Had when I was in the land of 'Oz...those Aussies can make some beer! I'm sad that I can't get XXXX and Lion Red over here in the States...I've been told there is SOME importation, but I haven't been able to find it... |
COLD Beer, preferable in a chilled mug.
Newcastle. Moosehead. |
Right now I prefer Yeungling, but recently I was told of a beer out of CA called Arrogant Bastard Ale that has some good reviews to it. Only problem is that you can't get it here in the People's Republic of Maryland.
I fucking hate this state. |
Urquell, Guinness, Tuborg Classic
|
We have about five threads goin' about this in as many sections.
Please do a search first before posting. |
The Best Beer is the Beer I just Brewed, whatever it is. Actually, right now, it's Ornery Bitter. It is to Bass Ale what Orange Soda is to Orange Juice. (BTW, that's a good thing.) 3-4% abv, in 22oz bottles. Perfect Lawnmowing Beer.

Quality= Samual Smiths Nut Brown Ale
Quantity= Sierra Nevada Pale Ale Runner-up for both= Arrogant Bastard Ale Hard to find but damn good=Buzzards Breath (on tap) |

I mostly drink Labatt Blue, or Blue Light. Now and then I'll have an MGD since I can get those, *cough* free.
As a treat I buy Sam Adams light, or any other Sam Adams brews. I'd drink Yeungling more, but can't buy it in Ohio, yet. |
Quality: Fat Tire (Greatest Beer in the World)
Quantity: Milwaukee's Best (woot!) Light Quote:
http://www.arrogantbastard.com/interface/cornerlogo.gif Oh yeah - and maybe in a few years you can get Arrogant Bastard Ale (ABA) in Maryland after all. They are in the process of building a brand new Brewery. I may go there in August for their 8th Anniversary Party. |
1. Stone Ruination IPA
2. Sierra Nevada IPA 3. Dogfish Head IPA When I can't afford or find these: Miller Lite (The True Pilsner) Never had a Yeungling. I hear it is quite good though. Did someone mention Moosehead? Yuck... Newcastle is a good choice though. |
Good beers that I wish I could get a hold of.....
Yuengling - Black and Tan (Tap) Sam Adams - Summer Ale (Tap) Killians Red (Bottle) Victoria Bitter - Lager (Bottle) Bitburger - Lager (Tap) the beer I drank the most when I lived in the states was bud light in a can or on tap, ewwwww.... blame it on college parties. Now it's heinys in bottles, coz it's the cheapest import in Thailand. As for local beers, Beer Chang (Elephant Beer) is the best Thai beer ever! |
BEER
I might as well be Homer Simpson My brother makes beer in Boston (Harpoon) and it's great. They make a great IPA and summer wheat beer (UFO) and the price is right :) |
Quality: Black Butte Porter (Deshutes Brewery)
Quantity: Henry Wienhard's Private Reserve (Inexpensive, yet good local microbrew) |
My tastes always change, right now I'm on a Corona kick, maybe because it's summer. Corona (w/ lime) is light and crisp... just what the doctor ordered on a hot summer's day (or night).

Beer was always there for me...and it usually stayed long after I had drunk it. Thanks for the memories but I've moved on and now try to avoid it (you know why).
Wine, spirits, and Japanese sake are my main staples now. |
Alexander Keith's
Most delicious brew of all time. At least I think so ;) |
I recently found a local place that has Hacker Schorr on tap. It's an unfiltered Belgian wheat beer that I'm really liking now, very smooth but not to the point of loosing its character. When talking about good beers, I get repetitive about mentioning how many good beers I had when visiting Belgium; Duval is another one but I don't remember all the names.
|
Guiness and then Heinken
Mr Mephisto |
sue me. i love heineken, which my husband calls weasal piss.
i don't like dark beer at all. don't care for ales much either. if i can't have heineken, then i will take a corona, rolling rock, just about any light lager (coors, bud, miller lite, whatever). not my favorite, but occasionally i'll have a MGD if it's in the fridge (hubby likes that as his standby cheapie beer). there's a few others i can tolerate, but wouldn't actually buy myself. i've never liked any beer at any brewery. so when i go to a brewery with friends, i always have a glass of white wine, preferably pinot grigio. |
Favorite Draft = Fat Tire
Favorite Bottle = Rolling Rock |
Blue Moon is my current favorite.
Though I have very fond memories of all the time spent in Oz with a bottle of Crown Lager in my hand, and a lovely Red Stripe beer in Jamaica (I hate rum, so it was the only alternative) The one I haven't seen in like forever, is Old Slugger, a beautiful pale ale from the Cooperstown Brewery... baseball and a beer - life doesn't get any better... |
My beer of choice is Corona. i used to drink Michelob Light all the time but once I went to the beach and drank Corona I've been hooked every since.
|
Guinness
Sierra Nevada or any good India Pale Ale |
Fat Tire
Has anyone ever had or heard of Monkey Wrench Ale (believe it is brewed in England). I have never been able to find it (anywhere in the U.S.), and have only heard good reviews on it. |
Bass Ale is my fav, but will go with a nice bottle of labatt 50 or maybe a nice pint mcafferys.......all so good!
bass ale the topper though. |
I don't like anything weird or fancy.
If I buy, it's almost always corona. If I'm at a party and there's nothing but Bud Light left, then I'll have that. |
The best tasting Beer I have had is Crown Lager while in Australia.
Beer I drink most often is Yuengling Black & Tan. |
I like Sam Adams and Newcastle
|
I always have Yuengling Lager in the fridge. When I have the opportunity I run down to Baltimore and get a few growlers of DeGroens. The marzen is fantastic and the seasonals are out of this world.
Guinness is always welcome, and the best beer I ever had was a Red Hook Double Black Stout(made with coffee cut with Guinness. Nectar of the Gods. |

Colt 45.. just because the "works eveytime" slogan is as honest as beer slogan's get.

Lion Red is rubbish, it's the cheapest mass market beer in New Zealand. We make many other far better beers. Most of the small boutique breweries produce good beers - no added chemicals. Next time you are in New Zealand demand to have a try of Boddingtons, Harringtons, MACs and Monteiths. Cheers. |
Killian's Draft...it sucks in a bottle
Bottle beer..Miller Lite.. |
Rolling Rock :o

Alaskan Amber is almost always in the fridge, i like arrogant bastard too.
|
no beer for me. i don't drink beer. i do drink a lot of water though
|
i know the brewmaster at the Chicago brewery here in Vegas, (go visit him, his name is Kyle) anyway he makes a "Blueberry Vanilla Wheat beer" it doesnt have a name, or that might be what he calls it, but its the best damn beer ive tried so far.
otherwise, if im at the lake or in the sun i just pound down the bud lights....its like water, only it dehydrates you! yum yum! |

If your ever in Austin, TX check out Copper Tank brewery. They have some of the best stuff I've tasted.
... not that I taste allot, not too much into beer. |
Well while Guinness is good, it's not my favorite.
While I'm in the US: I'll have to go with Pilsner Urquell. When I'm in Europe: No Contest, Budvar Budweiser. Best beer on earth and it really puts that cheap american imitation with the same name to shame. What can I say, I'm a fan of Czech beers. |
Quote:
although it is close between the nut brown and the oatmeal stout. When i can't get that, i go for what ever the best local beer is. |
I can't believe nobody's said PBR. Haven't you seen Blue Velvet?

I used to serve the Black and Tan all the time when I worked in a bar in NC. FYI, the proper way to drink a B&T is with a dash of salt, and a lil bit of pepper on the top! If you've never tried it that way you've gotta. It makes a meal out of it. I've never seen a VB in a 40, though I wouldn't mind trying to get some of that here in Thailand, along with the others. |
Corona baby!!
|
My choices:
Free MGD Fosters |
Absoluetly favorite: Oberon, the summer brew from a small brewery in MI. Can't get it now that I'm in CA, if anyone wants to mail me some that's cool.
For quantity I drink the champagne of beers, Miller High Life, tastes best fresh from the brewery. Take the tour and you get three free glasses, take the tickets from your designated driver and you can really tie one on. |

bud light in a bottle
|
My favorites.
Anchor Steam Newcastle Fat Tire Negro Modelo Guilty pleasures: Corona with lime (undrinkable without it) Original Coors (I don't know why but some days a 6-pack of Coors in the soft yellow cans is just what the doctor ordered) When I want to get really drunk: Bud Light |
Leinenkugel Original
Miller Lite:cool: |
I prefer a good cold Rolling Rock.
|
Guiness
Fat Tire Gordon Beirsch - Marzen Leviathan Red Stripe Sierra Nevada I need a beer now... |
corona has been my choice for sometime but lately stella atrois(sp?) has hit the spot quite nicely
|
I like Amberboch and PBR.
I don't really have much experience with a lot of beers though, nor do I think my palate is up to snuff to say what is a *good* beer. |
I also really like the Sierra Nevada Pale Ale.
Oh, and they have a really good cycling team, too :D |
1) Harp Lager
2) Amstel Light 3) Michelob Amber Bock And the dirt cheap beer that I actually enjoy: Miller High Life. |
Shiner Bock when I get a chance to hit Maryland and get it. They don't sell the stuff in Delaware or parts north. :(
Dos Equis Amber most of the time, but I'll grab a Michelob Amber Bock at the bar on occasion. |
1. Bud Ice
2. MGD 3. Bud 4. Michelob Ice cold in a bottle. No whimpy light beers in my reefer, unless you want to bring some over. |
Labatt Blue... hands down
I love it |
Beer? No Thanks, carbonated piss if you ask me.
Pass the tequila or something. |

Hint: If it's advertised on TV, its not real ;) And yeah, that stuff does taste horrible. |
To bad them missed most of the Canadian beers
Molson Canadian is by far the best! Miller Genuine Draft... Rating: Higher alcohol % gives it a half bonus point. Nuthin' special, and nuthin' overly offensive about it. Not bad for American beer:D Moosehead... Rating: Nuthin spectacular about this Canadian beer. Cool Moose logo on the label I guess. Not offensive, but nuthin' to make you do backflips for either. The green stuff is better then the brown:thumbsup: LaBatt's Blue... Rating: I went into the local likker store to get a quart of Tecate, or something else that would wash down the big fucken burrito I just bought at Pepe's. I couldn't find the fat bottles, but I did see some 40's and some oil cans; yer basic shit; Foster's and Ole E. The blue cans with the maple leaf caught my eye and I rolled one up for $2. Not too shabby... cooled me down, and went well with the burrito. Says alot for Canadian-Mexican relations. Not the best beer it give you the shits sometimes |
Guiness or Stella Artois, depends on my mood :)
|

To me it just tastes like how i would imagine moldy water. Thats not to say i still dont drink it on ocasion but its by far not even good for an american beer. |
Rolling Rock
Fat Tire Sam Adams Miller MGD All depends on my mood. |
I had Fat Tire for the first time when I was in Vegas last month. I had heard so much hype over it that I was braced to be seriously underwhelmed, but, if anything, the hype was understated. That is the single best American Amber ale. I have never had another that was even close to that good, and I have had some damn fine Amber Ales. Still, I have had a grand total of a six pack of it and it can't be found this far east, so calling it a favorite would just be torturing myself. And yes, that is a beer that is better than anything I can make.

Chiuey, just jerkin' your chain. Should have thrown in a Smiley. :) |
I'd rather drink paint thinner than drink beer.
|
Currently in Fridge: Guinness
Current favorite beer: La Fin du Monde (9% Triple fermented monk special!) Puts a lot of belgium's to shame.. A fantastic beer brewed in Quebec.. Thanks beerfest 02' |
My favorites are Bass Ale and Harp Lager, usually Bass. Both have a pretty full taste. For domestic, Sam Adams is pretty good. I try to stay away from Bud and other watery beers unless I'm offered and feel the need to be polite.
|
The typical beer of all retirees---cheap, cold and wet...

Quality: Killian's Red or New Glarus Spotted Cow.
Quantity: Bud Light Spotted Cow is made here locally in Wisconsin. Even made it into the July 04 issue of Maxim (p. 121) if you'd like to check it out. It's unique in the fact that they don't filter out the yeast, which gives it a cloudy look. |
Australia:
Carlton Draught normally. Crownies (Crown Lager) if I have the extra dosh. US: I pretty much stick to MGD. |
Guiness
|
Molson Canadian
|

I <3 Yeungling for quality Mich golden draft light for quantity. |
I bought a six pack of Heinekken this weekend.
Worse beer I've ever tasted. Brought back memories of those skunky beer commercials. I mean if I ever wanted to know what skunk piss tasted like, surely that would have to be it. It was all I could do to finish that one beer. |
