I did a search on this and didn't find any relevent posts.

Yahoo! mail recently (06/16/2004) gave all of their members a massive storage upgrade, from 4mb to 100! And a cool new interface. I think this is pretty exciting news, so I had to post. I wonder why they decided to do this? New shipment of harddrives? I just hope this isn't something they go back on, because this is pretty cool :)

Edit: I'm talking about the free service here, not the premium service. They're actually offering 100mb of free storage to basic users.

Yup...I have the 100meg. Not that I use it that much, but it's good news for this Samantha chick who spams the fuck out of me!!

Yeah no shit... Now I have more room for spam. Yahoo Mail can bite me.

I don't even use up the 10mg offered by hotmail. I never get any mail :(. If I do, it is some stupid service I signed up for only to never use. That or ebay- they send me a lot of crap.

I actually receive a lot of e-mails from people I know. I actually don't receive that much spam, so this is a welcome change for me.

Hmmm...I'm in Canada and I have 100 megs.
The 10 meg file size will be handy.

Nice...now if only I needed that much storage space, maybe I'd switch over from Hotmail.

Oh, quit complaining. Sign up or not, Yahoo has been a good ride for me since I use my other emaill addy to catch the spam. The 10 meg filesize is definitely a plus. If you want it, I advice go for it as a second email addy and give it to those you really want to find you or a job contact.

I've always liked Yahoo better than Hotmail mail. It seems like it's even better now. My account gets a lot of spam, but it's not like it is their fault!

What's the catch to it though, are they doing the same thing that GMail is doing? Basically reading your mail so they can show appropriate advertising?

I'm way too cynical, you can't get something for nothing..

i think that they're just trying to close the gap a little so when gmail is released to the public, people will be less likely to switch over... the trade-off being more privacy for less storage (now only 10x less rather than 100x less previously).

Just create an account on the US servers. I've made several yahoo.co.uk accounts, so I think you can make one on a US server, too.

100 mb is just not what it used to be. Think of it as if they are replacing your 3 1/4" floppy with a zip drive disk.

I'm still on 6 meg.. :( wonder why.. how do you create an account on a different country server? I get automaticly redirected to the swedish sever...

I got spammed so much and I got fed up with their interface. I dropped them for cable modem.

i got the upgrade, although not sure if I'll ever come close to 100mb, hell 5 mb will do me fine.

I have 2 accounts and I never receive any spam. I've had one account for over 7 years and it's completely spam free.

This just made a good thing even better.

just get gmail and then you have a 1000 megs of storage

i've been using yahoo for yrs. it's what i use to sign up for almost anything.*
the best thing is their spam filter.

get spam in your inbox, just click the check box & mark it as spam. then it will go to your bulk folder which gets periodically automagically deleted. unless you're anal about it like i am & empty it daily yourself.

100 mg... that's just gonna make us all lazier than ever about keeping our mailboxes tidy. :lol:
