Post Your Wristwatches
I'm in the market for a wristwatch. Preferably something dressy, but not necessarily. I don't really know what I'm looking for, but I was hoping I could get some ideas here. I guess a picture and a description (make, model, caliber, etc) would be nice. Thanks! (I hope this thread doesn't get lost and bumped down to page 3 within a day.)
|
I have a Swatch Rainstorm. I've had it for about 9 months or so, and it still looks like the day I bought it. It's nothing super special, but I love it.
http://thestore.swatch.com/swatch/im...SVCN4000AG.jpg If I had the green for one, I'd get a TAG Heuer. I like this one in particular. |
Don't think my watch will do you much good function wise unless you've got a hearing aid, but I think it's soo cool so I thought I'd share :)
From Phonak, a Swiss hearing aid company, the watch retails for $500 and includes remote control features for my hearing aid. I've got the ladies model on the left. http://img78.photobucket.com/albums/..._black_120.jpg |
CASIO Edifice 107
http://world.casio.com/pacific/wat/c...107d-7avdf.gif Date display Accuracy: ±20 seconds per month Approx. battery life: 10 years on CR2012 Size of case/total weight 42.6 x 36.0 x 10.1 mm / 98 g Simple, looks good, and fairly inexpensive. |
An extremely beat up Timex Ironman with the old-style hard plastic flat buttons.

on the cheaper end of the casio protrek market... but hey, it does the job. |
|
Not exactly the same, but very similar.
Skagen (I got it with 75 or 80% off... something like that. bancrupcies are goood.) http://www.skagendesigns.dk/images/p.../524LSXB_l.jpg |

I own the swatch skin, "rubber dub". I bought it without really needing a watch, I just thought it was so cool, so I layed down the 95 bucks and took it home. I have worn it everday since. I don't have huge wrists, so this watch fits well. It is so light, that I dont really even know that it is on. |
I have a Citizen AQUALAND DUPLEX...
Nice watch with a built in Dive Computer... |

This is as close a picture of my watch I could find.
http://i.walmart.com/i/p/00/07/97/67...73_215X215.jpg This is a Casio. I bought an Elgin Blue Dial quartz watch with day/date display window for about 40 bucks that turned out pretty well, for a Walmart watch. ;) |
I wear an Invicta Grand Lupah and get a ton of compliments on it.

I wear this watch.
http://missingbite.com/picts/TDwhite.gif I get an enormous kick out of watching other people try to read it! |

This is my Watch. It is a Citizen Eco-Drive. It is solar powered, and is made of titanium. It is a lot light than a regular steel watch. It also has a rotating bezel. My other watch is an Omega that is about 40 years old. It was given to me by a personal training client who bought it new in Switzerland. It has a steel case, but the bezel and lugs are coated with rose gold. The face is not cleaned, but the plastic cover face was replaced. It also is a kinetic wind watch which amazingly still works. I believe it is a 17 jewel movement, and it is beautiful inside. |
This is one of my casually elegant watches. It is a Xemex, part of the Offroad collection.

This is my watch. Rolex Datejust. Not my actual one obviously, but same white gold bezel, stainless face, etc. |
Here's mine, got it refurbished at a Seiko outlet store for $50:
http://www.pulsarwatches.com/PulsarA...ail/PBK002.jpg I like the looks a lot, the light is kind of crappy though. |

Closest I could find, mine has a darker blue deal in the back tho.. |
Mine looks much cooler, 'cause it has a stainless steel band -
http://www.princetonwatches.com/imag.../H16311332.jpg |
Here's mine.. got as a 21st birthday present from the folks (retails for around 300 USD, I think), and had it for over a year now. This is the first, and hopefully last "real" watch I own. I love it.
You can beat a man to death with it, and it will not suffer a scratch! It does not need rewinding or changes of battery - it charges from solar power. It has other nifty features too, like seeing the time in different time zones, date, day of the week, timer/stopwatch, alarm, etc. http://www.citizenwatch.com/collecti...jr3060_59f.jpg Citizen Eco-Drive Skyhawk, full titanium model |
This is what I wear. It's lightweight and has the Tritium gas for continous lighting. It's the civilian version of the watch issued to many special forces.

Heres mine
http://www.nixonnow.com/prod_images/...cucie_hero.jpg Nixon Producer. Also a Nixon Powerslave: http://www.nixonnow.com/prod_images/894-hero_f14.jpg I dont wear this one much anymore... |
Love the Movados I don't wear a watch but if I did that would be it.
|
I have two...
http://www.thinkgeek.com/images/prod...-watch-new.jpg It's a 256M Flash Drive in a watch. I have a different face on mine (nicer), but I can't find an image of it. Geeky as hell, but it's great for taking a days worth of MP3s to work and back :) http://www.bevilles.com.au/images/Im...601_medium.jpg My other one is something like this one, although not exactly the same. |
http://images.google.be/images?q=tbn.../~pmwf/Watches
is what I normally use http://www.goldschmiede-peters.com/images/Rodania1.jpg or this either works great both are more accurate than you'll bother with anyway, and they weren't too expensive around $80-$100 |
http://www.hanowa.ch/image/watch/657215003.gif
picked it up on a holiday to switzerland a few years a go, swiss miltary i guess, dont know a whole lot bout it, but its titanium. |
|
Hanxter, I hate you. That better not be a picture of your actual watch.
/jealous |
Hanxter, is there a watch in your picture? :D

What is cool about this watch is that it bends around the wristbone, and the display is angled so that you don't have to bend your wrist to read the display "straight on". Lefties need not apply, however. |
I don't have one and I am sure that you aren't looking for a woman's watch so it wouldn't even matter what I had because you wouldn't be interested.

Tissot T Touch, has a touch screen that gives u acces to it's cool functions: Alarm, Altimeter, Chronograph, Compass, Barometric Pressure and Temperature. |
|
Timex 41711, gave to me by my friend in the national guard....same watch he had to buy......don't have many features but is reliable and light. Don't even have indiglo but does have glow in the dark hands...that are suprsingly easy to read in the dark.

skagen titanium thin.... always wanted movado, fell in love with the black/black/mesh look of this one when browsing around nordstrom's. |

TAG Heuer WK1110
http://www.blitzwatches.co.uk/images/WK1110black1.JPG Nice watch. Thanks Mrs Mephisto! Mr Mephisto |

Buy it here for $49.97 And Hanxter I'd like to know where I can get that display stand!!!:D |
I have to give both fossil and swatch credit for making really extravagant, beautiful watches for a low cost.

The luminous hands are pretty sensitive to light, and last for a while. Solar powered, and "never" needs a battery change. Should be at least 15 years for a battery change, but it's better to have it serviced every few years or so. The only annoying thing is I can't turn off the chronograph beeps and the alarm isn't nearly loud enough to wake me up. Citizen Eco Drive AP2161-68M |
I couldn't find a picture, but mine is a Guess waterpro w/ a red face. I'm really partial to the guess watches, this one is getting old tho, it was a gift from nearly 2 years ago.

This is my watch, of course its a few years old now, but you can get them for under a 100 now. |

Wow, everyone has such nice watches. I have a cheap Casio watch from Wal-Mart... it works though so I'm happy.
|
Has anyone else noticed that almost all of these promotional displays of watches have almost exactly the same time? Why is that?
|
http://www.fossil.com/images/us/loca...ail/PH2002.jpg
I got this for christmas, from the maternal unit. It is currently rocking my world. |
This is my new everyday, every activitywatch.
http://www.casio.com/images/b/g2300-9v_b_138x150.jpg finally replaced my other one after 10-15 years and 3 batteries later. The screws stripped out the last time I changed the battery and allowed water inside. |
mine is an old fossil blue. i couldn't find an exact picture since its at least 4 years old, but this one is pretty close:
<img src="http://www.courtesyparts.com/Merchant2/graphics/00000001/350z/5124_big.jpg" /> problem is this one's from a nissan dealer, so it had some changes. the big Z is replaced with the fossil logo and the watch face background has some texture to it on mine. other than that, same watch. |

yeah 10:10 is a standard. I read about it somewhere but can not remember where. Its kind of like the 555-XXXX numbers in the movies.
Did a search and came up with this: First of all, the 10:10 position does not block out the watch company’s name or logo. In this position the hands act as a frame for the name or logo. Some watches have the model name or some lettering such as the chronometer rating at the bottom section of the dial. There are watches that have a subdial for the seconds hand at the 6:00 o’clock position and indicating the time as 10:10 does not interfere with any of these. Some companies have started using 10:08 or 10:12 as the time shown on the watch in their ads. This stops the longer minute hand from blocking out the numeral or marker at the 2:00 o’clock position. On a chronograph with subdials at 3:00 o'clock and/or 9:00 o'clock 5:08 or 6:53 may be used to frame one of the subdials without blocking the watch company's name or logo. In addition, when the hands are in the 10:10 position they form a “smiley” face instead of a “frown” that would be portrayed if the time is set at 8:20. |
current:
http://i.walmart.com/i/p/00/04/93/53...10_215X215.jpg only cost me $46 but it's the thickest, heaviest watch I've owned. also current: http://www.edgetechcorp.com/Reposito...atch-Drive.gif I also have a blue-faced Casio divers watch that I only wear when I'm working around the house. It isn't waterproof anymore. |
I'd have to take a picture, because it's an original made by my jeweler here in town...
|
I have an ancient, white dial Citizen WR100. I love it, wouldn't change it for the world, though.
|
I have to go with the Nixon.
They have some very dressy models but carry the added bonus of being a more-core skate/surf/snowboard brand. I got this for my birthday. http://www.nixonnow.com/prod_images/...ider_Black.jpg 100m World time Alarm, hour beep. Stop watch You can also hold the light button down to hide the digital display for the clean lo-tech analogue look. It weighs a tone, which is how I like my watches weighted. www.nixonnow.com Check out their 'Collection' stuff. They have a few of their more popular models in a Ltd edition Matt Black finish. |
Currently I wear a fairly collectable Seiko men's Mickey Mouse watch.
Seiko doesn't make them anymore (Disney has since gone to Lorus or their own brand name). Some day, I want one of these: http://www.tic-tock.com/images/watches/564.jpg |
It's an https link, so it might not resolve...

I found this in the street several years ago, and have been wearing it ever since:
http://www.makedostudio.com/watches/....highlight.jpg Seiko divers watch. It does the job. |
1958 Waltham that I picked up on e-bay several years ago. It's a manual wristwatch (meaning I have to wind it every day) and it keeps excellent time.

A little clunky for me, I'm considering a switch. Also, when they went from 5 buttons to 4, the intuitiveness of the interface was lost. |
http://www.24carat.co.uk/images/watc...ntsmidi240.JPG
I'm thinking about an upgrade. |
I don't wear a watch anymore... I look at the time on my phone when I need to know the time.
I've owned a few watches but this one was my favourite... I lost it. http://www.todaysluggage.com/store/i...g/33908_64.jpg |

I loved that thing. Didn't lose it, it was ripped off my wrist as I fell out of a boat. It sunk to the bottom of the lake. The strap was weak, because I had it for so long. I think about the fish up north that swim by it every day to check the time. I bet that thing is still fucking ticking away, 100 feet under water. I had just replaced the battery. *cry* |
Daily Driver.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...n/1105e06a.jpg (classy, stevo. Real classy!) |
This is my blinging watch for fancy occations when I am dressed up. As far as a daily time piece goes I just use my cell phone, but I have always wanted a pocket watch.
http://www.rado.com/public/collectio...071_active.jpg |
I found the design company I was looking at in New York. Here are the watches I am looking at:
http://www.jacob-jensen.com/newsimag...ono_600_la.jpg http://www.jacob-jensen.com/images/640_650_la.jpg The cost difference is about $150 (stopwatch is more expensive of course). I'm leaning towards the latter watch due to cost, the fact I never use a stopwatch, and the I like the colors. It's really hard to find these in the US though. |
http://www.fossil.com/images/us/loca...umb/JR8096.jpg
http://www.fossil.com/images/us/loca...umb/JR8115.jpg In Blue http://www.nuvo.co.uk/images/jewelle.../fos_2_lrg.jpg http://www.watchzone.com/isroot/watc...ges/JR8501.jpg But on a metal strap I also have a Raymod Weil dress watch (gold watch, white face, on a black strap) |
Am I the only guy with a Timex Indiglo?
|
http://www.comparestoreprices.co.uk/...trap-watch.jpg
£6 from argos, taken it to 20m underwater without it even blinking, i'm always quite impressed by it. I also have a radio linked chunky metal watch which i can't find a picture of, but is pretty snazy (and considerably more expensive) too. |
Here's the watch:
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/billege/148444043/" title="Photo Sharing"><img src="http://static.flickr.com/49/148444043_0f6006bc77.jpg" width="375" height="500" alt="Watch" /></a> Given to me by my parents about oh...10 years ago around my 18th. Here's the thing I look at almost as often for the time: <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/billege/148444036/" title="Photo Sharing"><img src="http://static.flickr.com/47/148444036_3dadbf08d3.jpg" width="375" height="500" alt="Phone" /></a> Works just as well. I hear kids today aren't even buying watches so often because they all have the phone. |
I really dig this dress watch. And people seem to love it.
http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a3...x/DSC01025.jpg Not great with t-shirts or at the beach though... |
