TFP New York City MEET-UP Discussion WHEN?
 

I was thinking that since the people on the Left Coast were going to get together that maybe we'd try to get together here on the East Coast.

I wanted to try to gauge how many people would be interested in getting together and then I can start looking for a suitable venue or location.

with enough notice, i'll make it my excuse to finally visit NYC

right.. if we don't have enough interest we'll put this together for an end of summer deal.

That's a bad weekend for me, I'll be in Maryland for a wedding :( Any other weekend and I'll most likely be in. Okay, except for the last weekend in June. So anything other than that :D

I might be able to make it if this is our only option - this is part of the three weeks I am gone this summer. That said, if this is going to be the day, I'll try to come back early to do it. I think Supple Cow will be in NY that weekend, so she'd probably be there.

If it matters, just about anytime after July 5 would be fantastic for me.

Also, I am sure that you put it on the same day as Seattle and SoCal on purpose, but that would preclude Halx from finally having an excuse to come here...

well... we have no commitments from anyone at this time, I'm going to couch this idea for a later time.

Icelandair had a good fare and I've just booked at trip to Iceland on that weekend.

Well, I'd go. I just can't go June 13th or June 26th. Any other weekend than that and I'm 98% there.

Well I definatly can go to the NYC one since I live in NYC lol

but from what I can see on the boards we need to do a different weekend.

I would be more then happy to help put this together.

I can do late summer

I'm generally free most weekends, so whatever dates are decided, I can probably make.

I suggest the following three dates:

July 25, August 1, August 8

This mostly meets the criteria of late summer.

one good thing about New York is..
That every sat and sun in the summer there is a huge street fair on a differeent block each day.

I'll be in NY sometime mid - late july. :D

If I haven't moved or am on vacation, then I may be able to make it. Only about 1 1/2 hours by train.

I'm never good at keeping making a commitment to a certain date, so once I see the final date I'll know whether I can go.

It's not a far cry for me though, on a day with good traffic the city's only about 20 minutes away.

I've only posted a few times, but I live in New York, so I'll go.

31 July works better for me, but I could swing 01 August. I'd prefer a Saturday over a Sunday since I have to work Monday.

I'm thinking that keeping it closer to midtown since those people who come in from Long Island/NJ would come in via Grand Central and Port Authority/Penn Station.

I'm planning on going to NYC Summer Stage on July 31, as they will have 2 Icelandic bands performing.. that's free too. A bit further than midtown...

Hey I love that bowling alley! You can rent lanes there for a decent hourly rate, particularly if you do it online. We could bowl, drink some cheap beer, and then the whole city is right outside. Not to mention, it is kind of skeezy, the way a bowling alley should be. I am not really comfortable with the flourescent sanitization of Chelsea Piers. (Did I mention that I was the founder and president of the Juilliard Bowling Club? Not that I am any good though!)

I vote for the bowling alley! Watch out now, folks. I'm a member of the Juilliard Bowling Club, too (though not actually a Juilliard student).

When Halx gets here, I am going for an outting to watch Yankee baseball at the stadium. Any person wants to go, lets get a date so I can try to get a group thing going..

the only times availible for a Yankee game are Friday (7pm), Saturday (1pm) and Sunday (1pm)

So I was thinking, depending on what day we have the meet up, I would like to see a game the other day of the weekend.

something has come up that will probably take me out for the afternoon, but if things are still going on a bit later (late afternoon early evening) i think can still make it.

I am trying to make arrangements even if I cannot attend as I have a good knowledge of lots of places here in the city.

There's a Chevy's across from Port Authority that isn't all that expensive...request from last meetup was that we do it where there's food first...
