e-bay wedding dress FUNNY!

Wedding Dress! Cheap! Only worn once!

Bill O'Rights 04-27-2004 11:38 AM

No bitterness there...no, sir.

txlovely 04-27-2004 11:47 AM

I found the tattoos and mullet added extra special touches...

Hey, BOR... I like your sig

denim 04-27-2004 12:09 PM

I e-mailed him with the URL for this thread, if he's interested.

Bitter? Maybe, but he's grown a sense of humor from it.

This dress cost me $1200 that my drunken sot of an ex-father-in-law swore up and down he would pay for but didn’t so I got stuck with the bill. Luckily I only got stuck with his daughter for 5 years.

Best eBay item description ever.

Not sure if this goes in Nonsense or whatever, move it if its out of place. But this is the best ebay item description ever.

That line had me laughing soooooo hard.

heccubusiv 04-27-2004 08:30 PM

haha... that is a great auction, too bad the auction is not for real by the 99,999,999 price

Fremen 04-27-2004 08:36 PM

What woman wants to wear it now???

StormBerlin 04-27-2004 08:36 PM

That was the funniest thing i've read in a while. Good laugh :) I think I'll email the guy and thank him myself.

Well, the man clearly stated that he had clothing on underneath. Maybe you forgot to read the description, seeing as all the jokes are in it you should 8).

animosity 04-27-2004 08:50 PM

hah... couldnt get through the whole thing. what an odd fellow

edit* i dont see a woman actually buying this.

Actually, my best friend's wife probably would have. Aside from being a total bitch, she's all about saving pennies in the most obnoxious way. She'd be bidding on that dress for $1 or $2 just to save the money for her QVC and Operah addictions.

04-27-2004 09:18 PM

He was on the local news (I'm in WA). Guess he got busted for having an auction, wearing his exwife's dress. He thought it would be good revenge. He wants to use the money to buy beer and Mariners tix.

bparker805 04-27-2004 09:25 PM

This is the line that had me rolling:

Some of your emails made me laugh. Like the bitter woman that wished she had her ex’s testicles to sell on eBay.

How could anybody think this woman was bitter?

What channel was he on? I live in WA too but I didn't see this.

04-27-2004 09:39 PM

I don't recall- just about any cable news channel Kiro, King, Q13, Komo...should have it on.

Karby 04-27-2004 10:08 PM

the aution is funny. not so much for the price of the dress.

Tirian 04-27-2004 10:27 PM

1.7 million hits on the counter - holy hits batman !!!
funny stuff.

Asuka{eve} 04-27-2004 11:11 PM

Man!! Last time I checked that auction it was at 300$!!!

Jam 04-28-2004 01:49 AM

holy fucking expensive dress... sure looks like a real auction ... if you didnt notice he has sold alot of other things... i think people just bid alot as jokes and screwed up the thing... some poor saps going to have a bloody expensive dress

CSflim 04-28-2004 02:42 AM

I guess the $9,999,9999 was (rightfully) removed by ebay. The current highest bid is $17,000.
The thing about your ebay auction becoming well known is that you get a lot of losers just bidding as a joke, with no intention of paying.
This guy actually wants to sell that dress. I wonder if that $17,000 was serious? I mean he says that the dress cost $1,200 new!

ratbastid 04-28-2004 04:28 AM

God bless the blogosphere. A couple major blog-news sites pick up on something like this and suddenly Some Dude in Washington is the Internet Celebrity Du Jour.

I'm SURE this was on Fark. Most oddity/human interest TV News stories I've seen got scooped by Fark.

We tried taking pictures of this lovely white garment but it didn’t look right on the hanger as you can see, so my sister says, "You need a model." Well, quite frankly my sister isn’t exactly small, (like a size 12 is?) so she wouldn’t pose for the picture. Seeing as I have sworn off women for the time being and I ain’t friends with any, it left me holding the bag.
Gee, I'm amazed that this guys marraige didn't last, AND he doesn't have any female friends!

I saw this on the NBC Today Show this morning, I'm surprised I only heard about the ebay auction yesterday, and it's on the Today show today. Fastest growing meme. Ever.

MaGlC_MaN 04-28-2004 05:18 AM

lol, ebay's crazy

Midnight_Son 04-28-2004 05:56 AM

If that guy writes a book, I'll buy it....he's got a flair for words

hotzot 04-28-2004 06:07 AM

jesus! is the dress really up to $24,900?

rockogre 04-28-2004 10:30 AM

Too funny. It was just on the news at noon from Oklahoma City, channel 4 in case any of you Okies wasn't goofing off and watching the news and weather.

majik_6 04-28-2004 11:02 AM

Wow! Although I'd say it's going to be hard for him to get any legit price (with gag bids and such), I must give him credit for taking a shitty situation (wife leaving, but keeping the ring) and turning it into comedy gold!

His updates are some of the funniest things I've read in a while.

Plan9Senior 04-28-2004 12:15 PM

Auction is changed to approved bidders only and the bid is up to 15 grand, so he will be getting that ;). Not bad chunk of change for having a little fun I must say.

minyn 04-28-2004 12:34 PM

what a worthwhile endeavor to lay your heart in front of millions of people and embarrass yourself just as much! damn, if i get a divorve, ill make a point to slap my daddy in my dress to get rid of it right quick!

Halx 04-28-2004 12:55 PM

I've been following this auction since it had less than 50,000 hits. Now is has nearly 5 million. Wow.

denim 04-28-2004 01:11 PM

He doesn't sound embarrassed. :) Looks like he stands to get what he went in for, plus enough money to get it several times over (tickets and beer). What more can he want?

He doesn't even have to handle being famous!

Grondar 04-28-2004 01:12 PM

I kind of have a desire to hang out with this guy.

Is that a bad thing?

StormBerlin 04-28-2004 01:21 PM

So I'm watching Dr. Phil, and they interrupt Dr. Phil to let me know that this story will be on the news tonight. In Salt Lake City...
I don't know where this guy is, but I'm surprised word's getting around like that....

Winning bid: US $3,850.00
Price went down abit, but none the less 4grand is a good amount of money, and I think he can catch afew Mariners games with that money. And besides that he got awesome publicity, and probly had tons of fun doing it. This mans my hero, i would definetly buy any book he put out.

He's in Washington, near us. The local news said that he was improperly selling his ex-wifes dress to get revenge. He wants to use the money from the auction to buy beer and Mariners tix. He was not afraid to be on camera. He's also gotten marriage proposals as well.

mingusfingers 04-28-2004 03:09 PM

And he makes 3850! That would certainly make me feel a bit better.

merkerguitars 04-28-2004 10:03 PM

I hope that guy gets the money that it sold for. He did a great job on listing an auction (perfect humor all the way through the listing) and the auction spread like wildfire on the internet.

Bobaphat 04-28-2004 11:38 PM

What I can't understand is why this guy want Mariner tickets. Have you seen them lately? I am a diehard M's fan but I want to slit my wrists watching those games day after day. I guess that's why he wants the beer...

telekinetic 04-29-2004 12:36 AM

Wow. This guy could sell ice to eskimos.

In other news, our morning DJ tried telling people about this auction, and attempted to read the entire link.

This one guy emailed me and said, "Hey, bud. What part of Texas do you live?"
Uh... Well, sir, I am from Seattle. Uh, Seattle, Texas.
Right next to AreYouAFreakingMoron, Texas, which is a hop, skip and jump from IWasEducatedByGeorgeBush, Texas. Thanks for asking, neighbor

AHAHAHAHA

CinnamonGirl 04-29-2004 03:01 AM

heheh...he was on MSNBC last night. The number one story on the Countdown show..and he was wearing the dress

Ilow 04-30-2004 06:39 PM

good for him, that's taking lemons and making lemonade!

crfpilot 04-30-2004 06:51 PM

wow 11 million hits, does anyone know what the ebay record is for hits?

Asuka{eve} 04-30-2004 07:57 PM

Today picked up the paper and saw him OMG.

qtpye4u84 04-30-2004 08:16 PM

Wow.......That was kinda funny.
I would not want to buy that,it looks ugly I like the wedding dress from kill bill now that was cool. I think maybe he lost a bet and had to wear it lol.

isis 04-30-2004 08:19 PM

Ahaha, this made my entire day. I love this man.

H12 05-01-2004 10:11 AM

I (along with many of our school's football players) wore a dress and girly tank-top in front of my entire high school yesterday for our Relay For Life program in order to make afew bucks, and I didn't keep a dime of it; the $3 bucks I made went straight to their cancer-fund, heh. Now, with that said, I'd much rather be that guy who made nearly $4,000 and get to keep the money than being myself yesterday.

I look up to this guy.

Captain Canada 05-01-2004 01:28 PM

Haha. That's really really funny.

Vales419 05-01-2004 02:08 PM

That was hilarious, at least he made some money from the deal.

Thanks for the link.

V.

troit 05-03-2004 12:30 PM

Yeah I heard about this over the weekend. Too f*ckin' funny! ;)

yabobo 05-03-2004 04:31 PM
