Camel spiders!

I'm not particularly fond of spiders, especially the ones that can kill you (literally) that are found in Australia, but I'm no arachnophobe.

Having said that, these feckers give me the willies

I saw this a short while back. An interesting disclaimer: those spiders aren't NEARLY as big as that first picture makes them look. They are about as big as a stick of deodorant. Still scary though. They can haul ass.

I'm gonna be scared for a week now, thanks a lot.

BTW, there are spiders in the USA that can kill you too. Black Widows.

Probably in your house and your yard right now.

Don't worry, the odds of being killed by one are less than winning the lottery (as in a handful per year, those killed are either the very young or elderly.) Hell you probably won't even see one unless you're an eagle eye.

ok, i will admit a few things here,

one. i don't like spiders.
two. i kill spiders if i find them in my house or encroaching on my doorstep.
three. i would't mind owning a tarantula, I've held them twice and it didn't bother me.
four. I do what little stupid curious kids do. i once trapped a rather sizeable spider in a glass jar, slid a piece of paper under neath, lit the paper on fire, and watched the spider have a massive panic about its' impending doom.

i wouldn't want to be anywhwere near a solifugae, they prefer to hunt at night (their venom is anaesthetic so they like to feast on the flesh of sleeping mammals), but they are very territorial and those 4-way mandibles can produce a pretty powerful bite.

where's my raid, i'm not sleeping without it tonight...

I also don't like spiders, but only if they are in my space. Outta sight, outta mind...

However, I rarely ever kill any bugs, except mosquitos because those f*ckers exist only to piss me off and I don't think they'll ever be in danger of extinction.

Now that was interesting, especially the video. I have Wolf spiders in my shop that get a little bigger than a silver dollar and they are agressive but I haven't seen one take on any of the scorpions or centipedes wandering around the place.

I also get large Black Widows in the shop. They are kind of beautiful in their own way.

Other than my occasional killing sprees, we all sort of just respect each others space.

I see huge spiders all the time where I live. I witnessed a black widow (huge one) take down a preying mantis on the first day I moved up here. It was beautiful to watch the battle between the two of them. We also have Brown Recluse spiders here which are much worse than the black widow.

My wife is definitely anti-spider. I'm the designated spider killer of the household.

When I was going through some military training in Florida, I noticed almost all of the "nasty bugs" (spiders, roaches, etc) were so much bigger than I was used to seeing in Virginia.

How could you stand going to an area where you know
TONS of BLACK WIDOW SPIDERS live all the time?!?!?!

If I even ever saw one, even remotely close to my house, let
alone inside of it, I'd move as far into Northeastern Canada as
I possibly could.

I love spiders.
What's a Solifugids?
"Solifugids are a relative of spiders and are sometimes referred to as sun spiders, wind spiders and wind scorpions. They have 4 powerful chewing fangs, they lack venom but some species will regurgitate digestive fluid on their prey, the 2 front arms have suction cups witch are used to help them climb and to pull themselves or there prey into there fangs in the same fashion as a squid or octopus grabing prey with there tentacles, some of the larger species of solifugids feed on lizards, small birds, frogs and rodents but most feed on insects, they have 2 eyes and the daytime hunters have better eyesight than the nocternal ones.
