World wall clock
Anyone know where I can buy wall clocks with several dials, so I can track the time and day at several different cities?
I currently work on a daily basis with Sydney (obviously) but also Singapore, Tokyo, Beijing San Jose, Raleigh, New York, London, Brussels (and several others). I have some funky little laptop based tools, but I am soon moving to Perth (yet another timezone) and will be working from home permanently. Ideally I should like a wall clock that would show me the time/date in each location. I don't want to go that cheezy way of buying several different clocks and putting names under them if I can avoid it. Surely there must be some "multi-dial" or "multi-zone" wall/digital clock out there? Can't find anything via cursory google search. Mr Mephisto |
eBay. :)

How about this one?
http://www.theclockdepot.com/images/...ii_612-371.gif I thought it looked cool but it might be a bit on the expensive sife. I just put in time zone clock and found quite a few things. |
IMHO you can go to IKEA and get some of those silver metal clocks, print up some labels, and your in business :)
I almost did it because constantly working with Singapore, NYC, LA timezones. I never did because I just got used to it. |
Even if you found one with multiple clocks in a smaller subset, wouldn't they be hard to read? Cheesy or not, 3 or four clocks would be handier, or maybe a chart to let you know the time in certain places? Ex: LA+3 hours, London -6 hours (uh, that was a guess, please don't mock my math!)

I have three clocks in my office for DC, Rome and San Francisco. People often make fun of me for it but I refer to each of them at least twice a day so it is worthwhile for me. I would recommend the multiple clock approach.

I use the multiple clock approach also, it's cheaper....and as a bonus, it just looks cool.

Yeah, OK. Multiple clocks it is.
I like the IKEA suggestion. Thanks, Mr Mephisto |
Using multiple clocks, how would you know if the time is AM or PM?
|
Experience.
Working with my colleagues in these countries is part and parcel of my job. I have a good idea what time it is everywhere I need to, but having a few clocks besides my laptop utility would be handy. Mr Mephisto |
Um, I'd get digital clocks and use 24-hour time. That's easier.
Or you can just remember to mentally subtract or add X.Y hours to/from your current time zone... which is what I'd do first, then get the clocks. |
I'm a big fan of these, as we've got some of them at work - the only downside is that they're very expensive.
The multiple clock approach sounds good, though. |
All times are GMT -8. The time now is 08:55 PM. |
