The luck of the Irish is alive!
 

Happy St Patrick's day all!
I for one have already been blessed by the luck of the Irish. On my way to school this morning, I was stopped at a stop light and a County Sheriff was stopped on the other side of the street facing me. And for some reason I thought the light had turned green and just started going. It wasnt until I was half way through the intersection and say a car coming at me from the side that I realized I was in the middle of blowing a red light. Sure enough I looked in my mirror and of course the Sheriff was busting a U with his lights going. I didn't even give him a chance to get behind me. I knew I was busted so I just pulled my ass over and let him catch up to me. He got my license and all that junk and asked me what happened. (honesty is the best policy) I told him I completely spaced out and thought that the light had turned green. He rad my info and came back and told me that he was going to let me off with a warning. At which point my stupid ass replies,"The luck of the Irish is alive." He smirked, gave me my stuff back and told me to pay attention. So with that, my adrenaline plus my coffee has got me on the verge of a heart attack right now. Just wanted to share... Oh and don't blow red lights in front of Sheriffs!

Being a Southern boy, I am Scotch-Irish through and through (just like all of my Celtic cousins in Dixie).

However, perhaps John Lennon said it best:

"If you had the luck of the Irish,
You'd be sorry, and wish you was dead.
You should have the luck of the Irish,
The you'd wish you was English instead."

I've done the same thing...I would be looking at the oncoming traffic's lights, see they are green and start going. :crazy:

My luck is that there wasn't any cops to see me do that :D

Sometimes if I am going straight and the turning lane next to me gets a green light, I will get an impulse to go. Fortunately, I catch myself in time.

I don't know about all this. I'm half Irish and I woke up in pretty shitty mood for no reason.

Oh well.

PS - I've got a hangover from last night's St Patrick's celebrations. Even if it was just the wife and meself...

When I was sixteen did EXACTLY the same thing with a cop on the other side of the intersection. I realized what I was doing just as I was half way through the intersection and just pulled right into the parking lot waiting for the cop to get me. He u-eed and didn't even turn his red & blues on as he saw me waiting for his legal attention. Handed him my stuff and was also brutally honest about my lack of attentiveness and also got away with a warning. It wasn't St. Patty's, but I must add my last name is o'---
