The truth about Whinnie the Pooh

I was just thinking about Whinnie the Pooh, for some unknown reason a thought struck my head: "Whinnie the Pooh's a hippie!". First of all he is always relaxed, even when in an extremely stressful situation. That is because he is always stoned. It also explains why he is so fat. He gets a major case of the munchies and has to eat heaps of honey. He stresses out when he runs out of honey but hey thats what the munchies does to you.

Secondly lets look at 'Pooh logic'. Pooh always takes us through his reasoning step by step to come to a conclusion. The problem is that it is the wrong conclusion even when you were with him for every step of the reasoning. This is Pooh Bear rebelling against the predetermined existence of western society. His logical reasoning mocks the science of which most of our society is based on. It is a form of passive resistance, a form of protest often favoured by the hippie community.

Now Piglet is Pooh's dealer. That is why he is so small. He got into drugs early into his life and it stunted his growth. It also explains why he is so skittish. He is always stressed about getting busted by the appropriate authorities (Christopher Robin) and all that speed doesnt exactly help in calming his nerves. Also everyone keeps finding him hiding in terror. This is from all the flashback illusions experienced by his past uses of LSD.

Rabbit represents the narrow mindedness of the more conventional society. He has no tolerance for Pooh and Co's antics. He flat out refuses to even listen to their thoughts on a subject let alone acknowledge them as having some truth. His philosophy on life is correct and therefor anyone who does not adhere to it is being stupid. Rabbit, even though he repressents the masses, he stilol fails to adopt the egalitarian principles of that same society, further stating that by failing to conform to the norms of society you will only be met by negative attitudes by the very society that you are a part of.

Now Eeyor is at the other end of the spectrum. He represents the junkie that you can turn into through the use of drugs. He has no friends, house, love, self esteem and most of the time no tail. The loss of his tail is a metaphor for the loss of his identity and soul. He has lost everything to the point where he has nowhere to live. Everytime he makes a little hut for himself it falls down further showing the precarious existence of artificial happiness. As he has lost himselfspiritually he has also lost himself socially. A natural by product of his loss of soul and identity is low self esteem. His depression effects his social life further developing the self esteem issues that brought on the problem. It is a vicous cycle that spirals down into a pit of hopelessness. This is where drugs can take you.

Whinnie is the medium of the two extremes of which he mocks by his very existence. Another medium is Tigger. Tigger is always happy and full of energy. I would theorise that he is so happy because he has so much sex. Thats why he is always bouncing around everywhere. He has an extremely high sex drive and satisfies it endlessly. His 'best friend' Roo is his gay lover. That is why they are always bouncing around TOGETHER. Tigger is the butch and Roo is the bitch in the relationship. Further more Tigger is also boning Kanga (Roo's mum). That is why Kanga is always a bit hesitant about Roo spending so much time with Tigger. She gets jelous. You could probably theorise that Tigger is so full of energy because he takes so much speed and you may be right but it is probably just the constant glow of post and pre sexual encounters.

Christopher Robin represents the government and other authorities in our society. He shows up once in a blue moon and issues a few orders and everyone obeys. It doesnt matter that society was running quite smoothly even with the differences before he showed his face. But he believes that nothing can work without his exoressed organisation. Unfortunately he holds all the power (it being his imagination and all) and so everyone jumps to attention in his presence and obeys his orders without question. No one can relaxe until Christopher Robin leaves.

First: It's Winnie. I don't know where you got the extra h from. Maybe you were thinking of the noise horses make ("whinny").

Second: If you're convinced it's a drug-based metaphor, I'd say Eeyore's near-perpetual lack of tail is a lack of fine female forms in his life ("tail").

Third: What do you make of the game of Pooh-Sticks?

So then, Owl must represent Academia , his tree house being a metaphore for the ivory tower.

Ultimately, his knowledge is exposed as nothing more than hubris, failing miserably in solving any of the societal problems of the 100 Acre Wood.

Ever read "Winne the Pooh and the Philosophers"? Excellent book. Or "The Tao of Pooh". Both excellent philisophical works about Winnie the Pooh.

So umm..when you come to those "conclusions" about Pooh-Bear...do you have to do some sort of "review" or purely out of memory?

Winnie The Pooh in the classic and the new cartoons was created as a male bear. I forget the whole story behind it on how and why they changed it.
But the original Winnie bear was actually female named by I think the writers son Christopher Robin.

I thought that was hallarious! I've never read anything relating Winnie the Pooh to drugs before. Scooby Doo, yeah, sure, we all know about that one, but not Winnie the Pooh.
I don't agree with the Tigger, Roo, and Roo's mom part. I think it more likely Tigger's on Speed, he's getting Roo hooked to speed, and Roo's mom is that way because she sees that Roo's not acting the same after meeting Tigger and getting hooked on Speed. She represents the parents that don't know what their kids are getting into, but know that whatever it is, it's bad and although she doesn't want Roo getting into it, she's powerless to stop it.
Owl represents the academics and scolars.
Gopher represents the average hard working citizen in society who never takes time out of his day to stop working and enjoy life.

I'll clarify a few things for you guys.

1) I was not on drugs when this entered my mind though I do completely understand why this assumption was made.

2)This is just the type of stupid shit that enters my mind and I dont know why. I do this type of thing all the time I just dont speak about it aloud very often.

3) I was actually trying at the time to fall asleep but my brain wouldnt stop churning over.

4) I didnt even think of Owl or Gopher but I do like the ideas that some of you guys have had about them.

5) I always loved Pooh Bear but most of my knowledge is from memory of when I read it as a kid.

6) Good point about the rabbit hole Joshibahn. maybe it represents that the common masses security of hiding in the dark from new ideas and experiences?

7) Maybe the 1000 acre woods shows that even though everyone has their own knowledge and experiences they still only know a tiny fraction of the world they live in. All the unknown (1000 acre woods) is there to be discovered. All anyone has to do is enter them.

8) Thanks for the book recommendations. ill check them out.

9) Despite all this deviency involved in Winnie the Pooh I do like him alot. He enjoys life but without being at the expence of anyone else. He doesnt wish harm on anyone. I respect that.
