Amazing that he had the presence of mind to go get help. I'd have just freaked out. |
Oooooook. Holy shit that man deserves a tough man award.
I'd be so out of my mind its not even funny. |
I never would have thought to get help, I would have been thinking to hardabout how to get the shark off NOW!
|
That story is unsettling and leaves open many questions in my mind:
1. Was he swimming alone with no one else around anywhere that could have driven him to the clinic? 2. What exactly killed the shark? The freshwater spray down, being out of the water or did someone murder the shark? 3. Why bury the shark; why not have it stuffed and mounted as a souvenir? |
Yeh
He should get it mounted to his leg :D. Itd be an excellend conversation piece |

1:Yes. 2:Several hours out of the water uaually does the trick with most marine creatures. 3:Wobbegongs are ugly bastards. Oh,and another thing. It was only a foot and half long,so it would be no good to eat either. |
I'd like to think I would react the same way in such a situation, but the truth is.. I don't really know.
I know my sister would... she's got that kinda mentality. |
I probably would have freaked out, and been scrambling on the beach for a rock somewhere to beat the crap out of the shark ;)
I think I could at least have made it back to shore, maybe... |
don't freak out people.
Wobbe's are NOT DANGEROUS... (note the line, he did not need stitches even after he had 70 puncture marks) i'm surprised that it bit him at all. he must have been deliberately provoking it. |
Im terrified of sharks..I wont even go into salt water...So, I guess I wouldve freaked out and probably drown ..with other nasty sharks eating me..*shudder*
|
I can see him now, in my mind's eye, lifting his trouser leg to show the scars to the cutey he's chatting up. Yep, he's gonna score big-time!
|
Hey, Richard Hatch from survivor was okay after being bitten by a small shark. He had to swim to shore with it still attached to his arm.
|
a GIS reveals the horror of the wobbe shark:
http://www.underwaterworld.com.au/fu...birthday_c.jpg I, for one am scared out of my mind. |
cchris, thank you for the information
After researching the shark it's amazing how the snorkeler was even attacked. Wobbe's forage at night and sleep during the day. So was he night snorkeling? Had to have been. |
I used to spearfish quite a bit and saw the odd one now and then during the day and pretty sure this one happened in daylight too.
The big ones scare the shit outta ya when you don't see them coming and they just float underneath. |
If I were to get bitten by that shark, I would have probably started panicking and rather take it off ASAP isntead of going somewhere to get it removed.
